Chapter Four: He Felt it Too

1739 Words
Avery's POV Everything burned. My hands, my skin, even my blood felt like it was boiling. The man who was holding me was very gentle, and for my dying state I was very thankful for that. I wanted to be with my family, I was ready to be with them again. To be with Daniel again. "Don't cry little one." He whispered softly to me, but I couldn't help but cry. My whole body yearned to be with my loved ones but something was keeping me here. I coughed turning onto my side as blood spewed from my mouth. More tears fell from my eyes, the bite on my side hurt so bad that coughing made me want to scream out in agony. As I began to settle a pair of black suede shoes stopped in front of me. I knew who it was. He could go back to his castle; he was no help here. My people are dead and there is nothing he can do here now. "Go away." I croaked and felt my throat want to clog up, I started to take in small gasps of breath instinctively. The venom is starting to affect every part of my body, now it's getting to my lungs. "No can-do little witch." He crouched down closer to my level on the ground. "You see, you have some information regarding the man responsible for killing my wife and son." I pursed my lips. No matter my family's past with that man, I won't ever tell this one anything he wants to know. It's a dark past. One me and my twin brother shared for years before we told our parents. I promised Andrew I'd never tell anyone else what he did to him. I felt my breathing begin to slow and my eye lids felt heavy. I've been fighting the effects of the werewolf venom for hours now, and now that I'm sitting still it's finally catching up to me tenfold. A harsh grip grabbed my arm and I gasped with a strangled cry of pain. I was placed on someone's lap but because my eyes were so heavy, I found it impossible to open them again to see who it was. All I knew was that they were warm and very comfortable to sit on. "Here." Warm wetness touched my lips, I tried really hard to open my mouth, but I couldn't do that either. "Alexei, you are going to have to force it down her throat." That voice was from the woman before, Genevieve. I shook my head, or at least tried to. My instincts told me to accept the blood, yet my heart wanted none of that. I wanted to be with my kin now. "Lex, now!" The voices had begun to fade, I felt my chin being tipped upwards and my mouth being forced open. And even though I knew who it was that was holding me I still couldn't find the will to drink his blood. I could feel his warm blood entering my mouth, his blood actually tasted sweet on my taste buds and not bitter like I expected it too. As I tried to gulp down his blood I couldn't and began coughing instead. Like I was submerged underwater for a long period of time "This isn't working. She can't swallow my blood without choking." He grumbled. The venom of a werewolf is like going through an anaphylactic reaction to something you're allergic to. It just works slower. "Then set her down and let me see if I can do something." "No, hold on." I moaned in pain when his hold got tighter on the side I was bitten on. It still hurt like crazy, and it definitely had a fever around the surrounding area already. I could even feel a sickness beginning within myself because of it, that is if it had time to take place before it killed me. A cold breeze whipped through the air; I could hear the crying wind as it swept through the air harshly. Then my body was lifted from the King's lap and placed on the warm soil beneath our feet. A hand was then suddenly pressed onto my side and blinding pain shot through me eliciting a scream from me along with a loud shout from the sky as thunder and lightning cried out. I gritted my teeth as I grabbed the arm with one hand and dug my fingers in the dirt with the other. "I'm sorry child-" The second she apologized I felt a binding being placed. No. She couldn't bind me to anyone, I wanted to die. That realization made fresh tears spill and I was given the strength to open my eyes finally. I know she didn't bind me to her because I would feel her life force living within my own. No, she blinded me to the very man that was glaring daggers at both her and me. He felt it too. "What have you done?" He stood up, his hands balled into fists. Yes, please be angry enough to kill me...that is if you can break the bond, she placed on us. It wasn't a mate bond that werewolves are blessed with, but it's similar. He would feel me in every part of the way. Even if I was to grow older and move on from this horrible event and find someone to grow old with. Alexei would feel every single moment of happiness, sadness, joy, anger, and worst of all he would feel the intimate moments I would have with him. He would feel everything. I watched as his hand involuntary went up to his chest to rub his heart. He could feel how broken I felt right now, yet he was holding it in better. "Mark look around for something sturdy, and someone find Genevieve, something for the kid's leg." The King shook his head as my vision began to blur. "It's f*****g broken too." He turned and walked away. "Alexei!" The witch called after him. "She's binded and bonded to you now, she requires blood to heal." "Then have someone here give her some." His voice was growing fainter as he walked away. The farther he got the weaker I felt. Didn't he feel it? There is no way he didn't. "I BONDED HER TO YOU!" The fact that he didn't understand what she needed from him was frustrating. I didn't care one way or another though. "Marcus, show him what I'm talking about. Will you give her some blood please?" I felt the hand on my side move, my head rolled to the side to try and find the person named Marcus but all I could do was close my eyes due to the spinning in my head. The blood loss should have killed me by now along with the venom, but the damn spell she cast wouldn't allow me to do something so simple as die. Warmth pressed against my cheek as I was carefully sat up. I whimpered and let out a small cry at the discomfort. "Shhh" I felt a hand brush my hair from my face before they placed their wrist to my mouth. I didn't want his blood, my body recoiled against his offer, yet my mouth still opened despite it. The taste of his blood in my mouth was gross and the second I swallowed it; my stomach turned. I pushed the hand away weakly then turned to the side to spit it out. Or at least I thought that's what I did, I didn't realize until Marcus had started speaking in my ear frantically that I didn't just spit it out. "Breathe, you need to breath Avery. I know he's a d**k, but he has a heart buried deep inside that cold exterior someplace. So, if not for yourself then at least do it for this scared nineteen-year-old man here?" Was he speaking of himself? That was sweet he cared where his King didn't. He sounded so much older than nineteen. I felt bile rush to the surface, so I pushed his face away from mine before it happened but at the same time my arm was grabbed causing me to fall forward. I could tell by the tight grip on my arm who it was, I also had no time to warn him as he helped me back up, the only sign I could give was my bulging eyes as I threw up on him, it was so gross and so embarrassing. "f*****g hell" it was a mixture of blood and some of the food I ate this morning for breakfast. But mostly blood, you could even smell the werewolf venom in the blood I threw up. It was so strong in my veins it hurt to move. "Alex now, the longer she is weak, you will be too." He is going to hate me for the rest of my existence because of what his friend has done. He will never forgive her for this bond she put on he and I. I have only ever heard of witches binding others to their own kind. Never one to a different species. And usually, it is with someone they love. A Vampire King and a witch like me would not mix, we are polar opposites. This spell would be my doom I just know it. "Un..." I tried to speak but like before my throat felt clogged up. "U... und-do it." I whispered. Falling against the nearest body. "I can't Avery, you'll die if I do." I felt like screaming. My heart shattered more because she was denying me my final wish. I let out a sob of despair and buried my face into the shirt of whoever I was leaned into. "Gen, she wants to. Can't you look around." It was the King I was pressed into, he adjusted me so that I was laying on him. "Her mate Daniel is dead; her family is dead and so are all of the people she grew up with. She has no one. You are the enemy here by binding her to me." He stood up and sighed. "You didn't save her. You cursed her." And after that I felt weightless in his arms falling into a dark sleep, I wished I wouldn't wake from but knew I would, because destiny always prevailed even if you refused too.
