Alexei's POV
"We are almost there?" I grumbled from the backseat as I poured yet another shot of vodka.
"Yes my King, another short distance and we will arrive at the destination given by the boy." My warrior says from the front. I originally wasn't going to come out here but my father convinced me too.
He said the seers told him it would be good for me to deal with this myself since it involved werewolves.
Those vile beasts.
They killed my beautiful bride the day after our wedding anniversary. Once I find the one who killed her there will be a day of reckoning for him.
Downing the shot I tossed the empty bottle in the back and grabbed a new one. Alcohol is my only comfort now, that and killing wolves.
"We are here sire." I looked out at the sun that was setting. You could still see the smoke in the sky from the still burning wood, many of my men jumped out of the six cars we piled into and worked on putting out the fires that started to reach the forest.
When I got out and stepped to the edge of the trendline I noticed one thing...it didn't move past it.
Something was blocking the fire, the ash and even the smoke from entering the forest. "Interesting!" I mused.
I stepped over the line and was hit instantly with the scent of death and decay. "Someone is still alive, find them." I ordered. Only a witch would care about the forest enough to protect the wildlife from the fire and the smells this place carries.
I watched my men race around lifted up heavy objects and even lifting burned and dead bodies to check under them to see if a child or another person was under them they were delicate with the dead.
We will send them off properly, it was only right.
As they did all that I heard it, a heart beating. Fast and unsteady. The smell of decay made it hard for me to scent this person out so I followed the heartbeat.
Going around a really burnt building that was half standing half burnt down I saw one still perfectly intact.
"Over here." I whistled to gather my men's attention since i wasn't near them. As I got closer to it my insticts moved me to the back of the building, a deep feeling of dread filled me; there was a young man no older than eighteen there. A young Vampire. He was dead, so where was the heartbeat coming from?
There was a smell of perfume on the young man so I followed that thinking it could be the person I'm looking for.
Walking further away from the building and going into the dark set of woods nearby I smelled blood then a moan of pain. I felt my steps moving faster towards the sounds, and upon getting closer there was no denying the other scent.
I halted.
Werewolf.
I snarled and went to turn away when they called out to me. "Help me...pl-pllease?" She sounded young too, if I turned around I would kill the kid.
"If you want to live you won't speak to me." A whimper was heard, I hadn't even got close enough to where I could see her but I could smell the wolf and that was enough.
"Please, I do-don't think it will be...out long." My brows furrowed. The young girl sounded desperate and weak.
I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed. "If you are lying I will kill you myself." She said nothing so I turned around and went to where the scents led me to. Moving a low hanging tree branch out of the way I came to find not just a werewolf that was unbeknownst to the girl on the ground next to it, was dead.
She was younger than the young man I saw earlier. I went over and crouched down next to her and offered her a hand. "Do not be afriad. He is dead." Her eyes moved back to the brown wolf, she had two scratches going down from her hairline to her cheek, I'm sure there was more based on the amount of blood on her clothing.
"Daniel called you, he said..he said that you would help." She looked uncertain. I couldn't blame her for that.
I moved away from Russia because the man that killed my wife lived in the states. But I've found no leads on him and I have been an angry drunk since.
"I can try my best.." I held my hand out again for her to take. Slowly she reached up and placed hers in mine, I held it tightly as I stood back up I pulled her up on her own feet but she winced and favored one leg over the other.
"I have a doctor here if you need treatment." She shook her head instantly and pulled her hand from mine.
"I'm fine. I just don't want to be here any longer." She shook her head not even looking at me. I glanced down at the dead wolf and nodded in approval even if she didn't see it. Someone who was willing to kill to save themself was worth something in my book, and she said that boy Daniel called us for help.
I have no clue who this Daniel was but he was also somebody I needed to go find and thank. There had to still be more than just her alive here.
I called for a younger male who was around her age to take her back to the cars and sit with her while the rest of us looked around.

After hours of looking and searching, and we'll past the sun had gone down and nightfall came we still stood out here sifting through the soot and burnt wood that was left behind.
It rained for an hour or so after we had gotten here which helped in taking the rest of the fire out.
We were now placing bodies of the people that lived here in a hole that we dug so that we could send them home to be with our creator on the other side of the moon.
But when one of my guys tried to pick up the boy that sat by the only building that was still intact the girl I had in the car lost it. Broke down and refused to allow anyone near him, even put up a spell to keep us away from her and him.
So we worked around her and went about our business and picked up other bodies to place in the burial hole.
I came across a young girl no older then three or four, her chubby little face was so peaceful when i picked her up from her father's arms. I almost broke down when I saw a glimpse of the teenage girls face when she saw the child.
I heard her sob out a name. "Sam.." I wanted to go and let her say goodbye to the child since she k ew her but I figured that would have been too much for her. She seemed broken as it was over the boy she was with.
"Sir I think we found the leaders of the coven, one had a photo of them." My warrior said as he came up to me while I took a short break. I took the wallet from hom as I sipped from my bottle of water.
I opened it, the first photo I saw was I picture of a man and a woman. Pulling out another I saw him and his wife with two kids. Twins. I looked over at the girl who looked like the kid in the picture. I sighed and looked at another, my jaw clenched at the last one.
I tossed my water bottle on the ground and got up. "My King, you know better than I she isn't a werewolf."
"No but he is. Therefore she is too. She has his blood in her veins." I roared and stomped my way over to where she was. Going around to the back I banged on the barrier that she had put up.
"Come here." I didn't want to be so harsh but seeing his happy face with those two kids made me angry. "Who is this?"
Her cloudy grey eyes flickered up to me but didn't really look at anything. I knew what she was doing, she was shutting everything out now that her home was gone.
"Answer me." I have powerful friends too and they can break this spell she put up with ease.
"Fine be like that, but once my friend breaks this spell." I tapped her invisible barrier then smirked. "I'm not as easy to escape from as your previous attacker kitten."
Her eyes narrowed slightly as her jaw clenched. I could tell I hit a nerve by the slight rumble in the ground beneath my feet. She turned away from me and grabbed something around her neck clutching it in her fist tightly and muttered a few words to herself.
"You have an hour to take this barrier down, or it comes down by force little girl."
"Avery!"
" what?"
She turned her head to me. "My name is Avery. Avery Suzanne Remington." Her voice softened as she turned away again narrowing her eyes back at the ground.
The name didn't match the man in the photograph. Then why is she and her twin in the picture with the man that killed my wife and son?
