Chapter Five: Jot That Down

1519 Words
“I’m sorry, I must be having a stroke or something because it sounded like you just said, he dipped his fingers into your dessert and told you to suck them clean, but I know that cannot be right,” Sibil said to Devina, her face plastered with shock. Devina and Sibil told each other everything, so there was no way she wasn’t going to spill all the dirty details the second they both were home. “Then I asked for more, and I really thought I had him, but alas, he said he didn’t have the time to take things much further because of his flight, and that's how I ended up inviting the demi-god to the Halloween party. I have his number, but I haven't texted him yet. I figure I should at least try to play it cool, although that has yet to work out for me with this guy so far,” Devina said before joining Sibil at their dining table. She had completed her two-hour workout and was starving to eat her dinner—a salad with chicken, as always. “Wait, wait, wait, when I told you to make sure to wear a condom, I was joking! I didn’t think you were actually going to try and get some girl! I mean, f**k on the first date is my style, but I didn’t think it was yours!” Sibil said, her eyebrows still sky-high with surprise at the details Devina revealed. “It usually is not my style, but damn Sibil, this guy- he and I just seemed to fit together so easily, and he was so attentive and calm. Two things I have yet to find in a man,”  “So he f****d your mouth with his fingers, kissed you senseless, sent you home in his private town car, and is already planning to see you again as soon as he gets back to town?” “Well, when you put it like that, I guess it does seem a bit further out of character for me than I realized, but I'm not sure I have ever clicked with someone and felt so at ease so fast with someone before. Sure, I still had my moments, and we know next to nothing but surface-level details about each other, but just his energy felt good for me- I can’t explain it,” “Say no more; I know exactly what you mean. Tacos and good head guy is giving me the same vibes, and it’s f*****g freaking me out!” Sibil replied. “Is he coming to the party?” Devina asked. “Not sure yet. I haven’t asked him to, but now that I know the demi-god will be there, I think I will invite him!”  Sibil whipped out her phone and started to type her invitation to the contact, “tacos & good head” while Devina finished her meal with a smile on her face, and it was certainly not brought on by the food she was eating this time. After finishing up their meals and cleaning up the kitchen, Sibil and Devina got dressed to go out. Nothing fancy this time, just to meet their other bestie, Javi, at their favorite dive bar for drinks and maybe some pool. “Hurry up, Sib! The uber is only 10 minutes away!” Devina yelled down the hall from her room to Sibil’s. “Did you text the demi-god yet?” Sibil said, appearing in the doorway of her room. She was fully dressed but still brushing her teeth. “Oh s**t, yeah I should do that before I start drinking and forget- or worse, text him like I did last night again,” Devina said with a wince.  Sibil smirked, “From what you told me, it seems he likes you, quirks and all, Dev. No use in trying to hide them now,” Sibil had a point, but Devina wanted to maintain at least some of her pride. Devina flopped onto her bed and pulled out her phone. She hadn’t looked to see what info Jacob had added to her contacts but was confused when she skipped to the J’s and did not find him. She then went to the V’s, remembering the hostess calling him Mr. Volkov, but there was nothing added again. She thought about it for a moment, then snorted a laugh as she scrolled to the P’s. Sure enough, new entry: Mr. Pirate entered in with both a cell number and skype number. Devina smiled as she edited the contact from Mr. Pirate to demi-god. Felt more accurate.  She pressed the icon to send him a message and started typing. DEVINA: Ahoy Sir! I do hope you made it safe to wherever it was you were sailing off to. Thank you again for the date and the ride home. I was delighted to chat with Peter about his collection of chauffeur hats, although we both agreed, the classic black is the best one.  *SEND* Devina smirked at what she felt was a well-crafted and witty (borderline stupid) text that she hoped would make him laugh. She liked his laugh.  She could never make Rhett laugh much, and if he did, it was at her and not in the cute way Jacob had laughed. It was always in a much more menacing way. One that made her feel small.  Devina jumped as the *ding* of her phone receiving a new text startled her. She was certainly not anticipating him to reply quickly at all but across her phone screen was the banner, NEW MESSAGE: DEMI-GOD. “LIPSTICK OR LIPGLOSS?” Sibil yelled down the hallway, reminding Devina that they were on the clock and needed to head outside to catch their uber, like 3 minutes ago. “GLOSS!” Devina shouted back. She was grabbing her purse and slipping into her doc martens as she scanned through Jacobs' reply. JACOB: I am glad to hear Peter made a new friend, and I'm glad to hear you got home safe. Have any plans this evening? Devina held her purse strap in her mouth as she typed a fast reply back,  DEVINA: I am heading out the door now, actually! Sibil and I are meeting a friend for drinks at a pub! You? Then she clicked the lock screen button and slid her phone into her bag as Sibil joined her to rush down to their waiting uber. Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the bar where Javi was standing outside waiting for them. He was leaned against the bricks and looked like s*x on a stick per usual with his perfectly sculpted Brazilian body and his beautiful curly hair.  “Thank god! I was getting cold out here!” he exclaimed as Devina and Sibil each greeted him with kisses on his cheek. They showed the bouncer their IDs and then made their way through the gathering crowd to the bar. Once Devina ordered her vodka-soda, she pulled out her phone to see if Jacob had replied. Sure enough, there was a message waiting for her.  JACOB: Had I known you would be going out again, I would have left Peter and all his little hats with you for the day, Devina. I am going straight into meetings, so I may not text back much soon, but this is Peter’s number, 323-890-4578. I just texted him and let him know to anticipate a late-night call from you for a ride home or wherever you need to go. Please don’t take an uber or public transport. It’s not safe for a beautiful woman like you.  Devina downed a tequila shot someone had sent to her and Sibil at the bar before deciding on how to respond. DEVINA: You can’t expect me to never uber or take the metro again, Jacob. I don’t have a car, and I live in the city!  Devina’s drink arrived, and she took a strong sip before looking back at her phone. She was surprised to see the little dots appearing already. JACOB: I have the means if that is what concerns you. Please take my offer and call Peter tonight. We can talk about your lack of regard for your personal safety at another time. Heading into my meeting now; please be safe, kotenok. Devina rolled her eyes as her thumbs prepared to fire off another refusal. JACOB: And I know you are rolling those pretty eyes at me through the phone. I’m adding it to the tally.  Devina couldn’t help but blush at this comment. DEVINA: FINE. But only because it's my turn to pay for the ride, and this way, I don’t have to! We will totally be discussing your illogical rejection of uber and public transport- don’t think you’ve had the last say here!  DEVINA: Oh, and I sure did roll my eyes, twice. Jot that down.  Devina waited a moment for a reply, but she figured he had finally gone into his meeting when one didn’t come. She downed the remainder of her drink then ordered another.
