Suspicion

I got up early than my usual waking up time since I feel like I will be able to talk to that guy freely early in the morning. My other roommates are still sound asleep on the living room after staying up all night watching the video of Lucio and his gang versus Rain over and over again. ‘These guys are wasted.’ I thought as I lightly kicked a leg of my roommate who is laying on the floor. I sigh and shook my head after seeing no reaction from what I did, so I decided to cook their meal and took a quick shower while the food is still cooking after putting all of the ingredients. I was already finished eating when one of them decided to wake up, immediately lifting the half of his body from the floor while his lower portion of the body stayed in place as he creepily turns his head slowly towards me with a droopy expression. “Good morning Lance.” He greeted as fell on his back. I finished washing my dishes and gave him a light tap with my foot. “Good morning, Terry. I will be going out first.” I greeted back knowing that he went back to sleep within just a few seconds after greeting me.

There are a very small number of people who are already awake and on their way to their respective buildings and most of them are either staff or teachers and the numbers of the student that I have seen are not even worth to mention. I was walking past where the fight happened yesterday. I was shocked when I saw Rain coming out of that same place with the same droopy expression along with a teacher beside him, Teacher Van. They look like they are talking to each other, I instinctively hid behind a tree not knowing why I did that when I have nothing to hide. ‘Now that I have done something like this why not go through it along the way.’ I thought to myself as I decided to follow behind them hiding in everything that I can find along the way. ‘Looks like they have quite a connection to each other and teacher Van seems to like having Rain as company-‘ I thought to myself as I continue to follow behind them when all of the sudden I heard something that almost blew my mind. “Either way uncle you should stop doing something like that in the future. Lucio Fox had the most severe injuries yesterday and apart from him the others only had minor injuries, you should have let them off easily.” I heard teacher Van said with a slightly bit of pity from his voice. “What are you talking about? I let them off easy especially Lucio if he didn’t try to attack me after I held them down. He tapped my hands so I let him go, there should have been no more injuries than a little sprain from his joints but maybe because of his pride that he decided to attack and since he is a special ability that accumulates physical attacks I need to knock him down with something that has no physical form.” I heard Rain replied with an uninterested tone.

The shock from hearing something form their conversation made me stop following them as what teacher Van called him ring in my mind non-stop. ‘Huh? Uncle? There’s- no way right? Their age difference is huge I mean- teacher Van is almost thirty two years old while Rain looks like he is in the same age as me but why uncle?’ I stood in shock as my mind wander in some place in my imagination for a long time and when I get back to my senses a lot of students are already making their way to the building while staring at me suspiciously like I’m some kind of a robber or a criminal, I can even hear them taking about me as they walk past me. ‘Wow- I never thought I’d get to have a mental block this long. What time is it-‘I paused as I look at the watch on my wrist as my eyes widen in surprise. “What the hell?! An hour has passed since I followed them?!” I was surprised when I looked at the time that I exclaimed and startled the people around me who are walking towards the north side school building.

After realizing that it was already late, I dashed through the crowd and arrived in our room and saw that there are no more than three people have already arrived and went inside our room. The only people inside our room were Rain and two other people that are so popular that there is really no way that there is anyone that doesn’t recognize them. Hannah Reese and Freya Anglus, both daughters of renowned and influential figures in the entire world trading organization who are partners since the first day they started business, Harold Reese and Gale Anglus. Both of them seem to talk to him but to think that his expression didn’t changed a single bit even when talking to the persons that most people revered as goddesses. ‘That guy is really mysterious.’ I thought to myself as I chose to walk towards them and join in their conversation. “Yow- good morning. Sorry to cut in on your conversation but I just can’t help myself after witnessing the fight yesterday.” I tried to keep it low as I flash a soft smile that I almost look like I am faking it but I’m not, trust me. The girls look at me with a surprised expression, I thought they are going to get mad at me for joining in on their talk but to my surprise Freya’s eyes immediately sparkled after hearing what I said and even supported it. “I know right? I was a little taken aback at first since it was my first time seeing something like that in my entire life but now that I think about it, it wasn’t that bad.” She said with an enthusiastic expression written all over her face.

               “It was nothing, I just did what I think was right. There shouldn’t be some kind of student organization without the principal’s consent and it also contradicts on the goal of Olympus, to make special individuals fit into society.” He said as he turns his head and looks at the window. Freya and I got hyped and talked about how incredible his moves were yesterday but Hannah was silent and just looks at Rain the entire time but by the time we mentioned the lightning that he summoned, I saw her eyes lit up like there was something that she remembers.

               ‘This girl have been staring at me the entire time. Is there something she wants from me?’ I thought to myself as I try not to meet her gaze since I am not used to get stared at for a long time since I was used to being invisible in the entire classroom. “And that lightning that you summoned- it went kaboom! I have never seen someone summon a lightning in an instant before, though it was dangerous and yet it looked really beautiful.” The girl named Freya and the guy that cut in shared the same enthusiasm as they seem to adore the thing that I did to their fellow student. Then all of the sudden I head the girl staring at me mumble in a distant tone. “Do you know what an Old-world ability is?” My eyes widened after hearing what she asked that my eyebrows twitch in surprise. “Huh?” both the guy and the girl named Freya tilt their head in either confusion or not hearing what she said entirely since they are busy talking about what happened yesterday. “I asked if you know what an Old-world ability is.” She repeated but this time I can feel her piercing gaze at me. ‘That is an old term that is not entirely known by the masses and yet she knows about it?’ I thought to myself as I try to collect my thoughts. “I have read that term in some thread on the web but I have no idea what that term entirely means.” I replied as I look at her eyes. ‘Did she surfed something on the web and happen to stumble on that kind of result?’

               “Is that so? I also happen to stumble into it when I searched the web last night. I was quite curious of your special ability yesterday so I can’t help but searched if there is someone recorded in history having two different abilities.” She replied as she let out a sigh and excused herself as she went back to her seat with an unsatisfied expression.

               ‘He is definitely hiding something. Either way I need to find out who that person behind that thread and ask him myself.’ I thought to myself as I sat on my chair. Our sessions went by so fast. While the others were occupied by their talks about Rain’s ability to fight and take down students who are using their special abilities, I was busy keeping an eye on Rain who was acting like he was not part of the class the entire time and just looks out in the window yet no teachers complained about his behavior at all. ‘Was it because of the video that circulated?’ I asked myself at some point but then decided to erase that thought when I saw their expressions, they were not even afraid or terrified when I saw some of them glance at him. ‘This is really suspicious.’ I concluded that there is something about him that everyone doesn’t know.

               “So how was your day uncle?” Van asked as we eat our dinner. “It was really annoying, I was trying not to stand out yet some people recorded everything and I ended up in everyone’s radar.” I replied with an annoyed tone. “Must be great to be popular- the girls dig popular guys you know. Even my female colleagues were curious if you are dating anyone.” He said with a teasing tone while I stare at him with a blank expression knowing that something like this is going to surface in our conversation. “Come to think of it I never saw you date anyone in the past.” He added with a curious expression but I brush him off with a good old excuse. “I’m just not interested in girls.” I replied immediately. “Ah-right, you even kicked a beautiful girl’s face from that fight. I can’t believe that you even decided to do something like that, now her admirers are cursing you for doing it.” his eyes light up after realizing that I was not really interested in some species called women when I decided to hit one.

               “Don’t get me wrong, that girl has quite the annoying ability of super speed. So in order to immobilize her I need to give her a slight concussion but to think that it was that heavy was out of my estimation.” I defended like I was someone who was wrongly accused. Van just stared at me with a disappointed expression. “Don’t give me that look, she was close as fast as me so I can’t help it.” I added but he still continued to look at me with pity so I decided to accept that it was my fault when it was clearly not. “I admit it, it was my fault from the very beginning. I failed to estimate the output of my power.” I admitted with a straight face it was only then that his expression changed. “I know it wasn’t your fault uncle. Are your nightmares coming back again?” he asked as he looks at me with a concerned tone. “…No.” I denied as I continued to eat.  “Don’t lie to me, I can hear you scream in the middle of the night.” he said with an angry tone as he pointed his fork at me. ‘This kid- he is not easily tricked.’ I thought as I click my tongue in disappointment. “On to a different topic, when will the plan commence uncle?” I looked at him and saw Van’s expression changed drastically. ‘This kid- is just as thirsty for justice just like me.’ I thought as I flashed as soft smile. “The end of this year.” I replied.

               *BEEP!* *BEEP!* *BEEP!*

               “Good evening father, there is something that I want you to look into for me. Yes, it does not involve the student named Rain Ambro. It’s about something different. Thank you, I will send you the details now.”
