Her head felt thick as Flic blinked open her eyes. They felt lead lined and tried to coax her back to sleep, but she resisted. Bright lights glared through her lids and she slowly roused herself back to the world of the living. The first thing she noticed was that she was no longer shivering. The biting cold of the night no longer taunted her skin and she was surprisingly comfortable, despite the throbbing of her leg and shoulder. Her whole body was stiff and, as she tried to move, sharp pain sliced through her wounds. She slumped back to the pillow, striking the first try as a defeat, as she took in her surroundings.
