King Abraham was a good king. He ruled his kingdom like his parents did before him. they were kind and had mercy but was swift with justice. They believed shifters deserved the chance to do the right thing. It was only recently when his sister Zara had gotten pregnant that they decided to give up the title to him and allow him to take over so they could be more present in their grandkids lives. HIs sister Zara was pregnant with twins after being told she could not have any children with her mate Leif. They also wanted to be able to travel to see Liam and thier pups. They now had four of them running around. Abraham had not found his mate yet. Being the oldest of the three everyone expected him to chose a mate since it was unusual for a king to not have a queen. He didn't have a desire to chose a mate though. He used to date her and there but nothing serious. He decided it best to wait for his fated mate. He wanted the conncetion he saw his parents and Liam have. Even Zara had it with her chosen mate. He would wait. Running a kingdom took most of his time. He emmersed himself in the business end of things and made sure the kingdom was extremely prosperous. Business came naturally to him. Making his people money to live gave him the drive to succeed and everything he touched turned to gold. He was busy with it night and day. His Beta kain and Gamma Drew were there beside him helping him with the day to day business. He knew he couldn't do it without them. He heard a small knock at his office door. He could sense his sister on the other side. She usually only came when she needed him. It wasn't for money she had plenty herself and was very successful herself. She was one of the top warriors in their kingdom. Her mate Leif being her only rival. "Come in sis." He could see the door push open as she wobbled in.
She was due any day now. She looked somber as she pushed the door closed behind her. he could sense there was a seriousness in her demenaor. She sat on the couch in his office and made herself comfortable before she began. "I'm sorry to barge in here like this but something has come to my attention and I need your help. I wouldn't ask if it wasn't so urgent."
He looked at his sister with curiosity and concern. Given her state of pregnancy, she should be careful how worked up she got. "calm down Zara and tell me what is going on."
He watched as she took in a deep breath, her voice almost pleading with him. He was trying to calm the panic in his mind. He had never seen her like this before. "I need a safe haven for a friend. She will need to hide from her father here under an assumed name. No one must know who she is or he will find her and kill her. She is running because he is trying to force her to mate and be a breeder to an older warrior in her kingdom."
Abraham looked on in shock at his sister. She was usually calm and stayed out of most situations. She wasn't one that invovled herself with drama. "Who is this friend and who is her father?"
Zara bit her lip lightly knowing what her brothers reaction might be. She lowered her eyes to the ground. Abraham did not miss the change in her. "Her father is King titan. He rules the oceans of ithica. It is Princess Alana."
Abrahams eyes grew wide as shock set in. "You want me to help hide King Titans daughter from him?" He was hoping he heard her wrong. He was hoping it was a crazy joke and she would rethink the madness she was throwing at him. She looked him straight in the eyes and her expression said it all. She was not joking. He had heard her correctly. "Do you realize this could start an uproar within both kingdoms? A war between the two species? You are asking me to go against the treaty we have with the King of the sea."
"No, I am asking you to help save my friend who saved my life on more than one occasion. I am asking you to understand that she is running for her life and without our help she will be forced into a mating she doesn't want or she will be killed. I am asking you to help ne save her." Abraham sat back in his chair rubbing the side of his temples with his hands. He could feel a headache forming and he sensed it wasn't going to go away any time soon. His sister sat there staring him down. Neither of them speaking as he took it all in. "You can say no Abraham, but Imust tell you no matter what you decide I will be hiding her I was just hoping it would be here where I wouldn't have to run with these pups as well. There is no way I will allow her father to force this on her. She deserves better than that. Everyone deserves better than that. You know it is true. If oyu had a heart you would understand."
Zara rose to ger feet and moved to leave his office. "Sit back down. I never said anything. You never even gave me a chance to speak. This is a lot to process. You can't just throw a bomb at me then decide you are leaving the kingdom Zara. Let me just take a moment here."
Zara sat back down on the couch as abraham closed his eyes trying to take it all in. The headache starting to pound harder against his skull. His wolf was pacing restlessly in his head. He wasn't sure why. he was usually a calm beast, but right in this moment something was making him uneasy. Zara was growing frustrated with every passing moment. "Abraham, just forget I came to you. I am going to Liam and Scarlett. It will most likely be safer for her there anyways." His wolf let out a growl as she spoke. He had never reacted like that before. Abraham wasn't sure what his problem was. why was he so upset with this girl going to another kingdom? "Did you just growl at me?"
He shook his head clearing it. This was an impossible position to be in. His wolf was wanting her here. He didn't like it when women were threatened to be killed and forced into something they did not want, but he also had to think of his kingdom. Liam and scarlett knew her and would most likely be more than willing to go to war for her safety. "If I do this you stay put. you can not put yourself in harms way. You need to protect these pups. My wolf is going crazy in my head right now making it impossible to even think. He wants to help her. Most likely the save a damsel in distress complex. What do you need from me?" Abraham felt defeated. he was going against his better judgement to let her come her and hide. "How long are we thinking?"
Zara squealed in delight. "Thank you so much Abe. You have no clue how much this means to me. I promise you will not regret this!"
"How long Zara?"
"As long as it takes for her sister to take over and change the laws for her to be free."
"How come I feel like I am going to definitely regret this?" Zara smiled as she got up and kissed his cheek gently. He had a weakness for his sister. He spoiled her and he knew he did, but growing without their brother they bonded and relied on each other even after finding Liam again. "Go and get some rest before you have those pups in my office." Zara left his office shutting the door behind her. He needed to prepare for what he might be getting himself and ultimately his kingdom into. Hiding the daughter of a King could mean war and he would need to prepare for the consequences of it if she were caught. He needed a drink so he made his way to the bottle he kept for special occasions pouring it into a glass. He swallowed it fast allowing its amber liquid to slide down his throat leaving behind a little heat. "what has my sister gotten me into? I swear this feels like I am going ot regret it." Setting the the glass down on his desk he grabbed his coat and walked out of his office making his way out of the palace. He needed to see his parents. They would know what to do. They could help him get a better grasp on his wolf as well. They had since moved out of the palace and into a place on their own. It still had luxuries and many perks but, they enjoyed the quiteness of being out of the royal life. He made his way to his SUV and drove the short distance to their home. He had many questions and wanted to be reassured he was doing the right thing. He wanted to know that putting his kingdom in danger was the answer, because ultimately, he was putting them all at risk for a girl he didn't even know.
