Chapter Six

1520 Words
-Victoria POV-  “Hey, I’ve been thinking-” I stop talking when I see Luke asleep on the couch. “Oh.” (He fell asleep.)  I sit next to him and watch him sleep. He has his head rested back on the couch. His face twitches as if he’s having a nightmare.   “Baby.” I say softly.  (Should I wake him up?) He looks so cute when he sleeps and I know he's tired. Isaac walks in sighing and looking tired too.  “Hey, so what happened?” I ask getting up and walking over to him.  “They didn't really say much, they are going to be more vigilant around the school and-”  He stops talking when we hear Luke grunting.   “What's with him?” Isaac asks.  “He fell asleep but I think he’s having a nightmare.” I say walking back to Luke. I walk over and touch his cheek.  “Hey, wake up.” I say softly but he doesn’t.  “Luke-”  He grunts and then a cut appears on his arm.  I back away shocked.   “Luke?”  I look back at Isaac. His face scrunches in confusion.  I look back at Luke. “Luke, wake up.”  Isaac walks closer and shakes Luke’s shoulder but he doesn’t even stir.  “Isaac, what's wrong with him?” I ask panicking.  “I, I don’t know.” He says. “Dude, wake up!”  Luke keeps sleeping.  “He won’t wake up. What do we do?” I start to breathe harder as I panic.  Isaac continues to shake Luke but nothing happens, he even gives him a few soft slaps on the cheek but not even that wakes him. “Vic, go get the headmaster.” Isaac says as he continues to try to wake Luke up.  I nod and run out. When I make it to the headmaster's office, I open the door abruptly without even knocking.  The headmaster is talking with Mrs. Adams and to one of the spells class teachers, Miss Beaks. They all look at me startled.  “Help.” Is the first thing that comes out of my mouth. I take a deep breath trying to stabilize my breathing. “Luke, he won’t wake up! Please help.”  “Where is he? What happened?” The headmaster asks. “He’s upstairs, he was sleeping and now he won’t wake up.” I say. I feel helpless and I am about to start crying.  They all nod and we run upstairs. Isaac still has no luck waking him up.  “How long has he been like this?” Mrs. Adams asks walking over to him and checking him.  “Like maybe twenty minutes?” I say not completely sure. "I was taking a shower and when I came out he was already asleep." Isaac steps back and gives them space to work on Luke “As he slept, that wound appeared on his arm.” He says to them.  Both teachers start inspecting Luke’s body.  “Has he encounter an artifact?” The headmaster asks us.  I shake my head. “Not that I know of.”  Mrs. Adams lifts Luke's hand up and points at a wristwatch. The teacher and the headmaster look at each other and one of them sighs.  “Where did he get this?” The headmaster asks. I look at Isaac and we both shake our heads. “I have never seen him wearing that before.” I say.  “That’s because that’s one of the artifacts that were in the vault.” The headmaster says. “It was a watch owned by a scientist in the year eighteen forty-nine. The watch is cursed. It sends the wearer's mind back to the Victorian manner of Edward Grayham, a mad scientist who delved with the occult.”  “How do we wake him up?” I ask with a panicky voice.  “Well, that’s a little tricky.” Mrs. Adams says. “Usually for these types of curses that transport you to a dream realm, you have to find the core of the magic inside the dream. Once you find it, you touch it and come right back.” She says.  “That sounds... simple?” Isaac says.  “Yeah well, you know what to do and I know what to do but Luke, who is in there, doesn't.” She says pointing to the watch.  I start to hyperventilate. “How, how do we get him out! We can't leave him in there! Isaac starts to rub my back trying to calm me down.   “Can we send someone in there?” The headmaster asks looking pensive.  Mrs. Adams nods. “Yes but, the problem is that you can die in that dream world. Whatever happens to you there, happens to your body here.”  “I’m going, send me in.” I say feeling determined.  (I am not about to let Luke go through that alone.) “Like hell you are. You’re not doing anything.” Isaac says.  I start to get angry. “Well, we can’t leave him like that!” I shout.  “I never said we were leaving him like that but if anyone is going, is me.” He says looking irritated.  (Both my mates in a nightmare? NO!)  I shake my head. “No, I... I... you can’t...”  I feel drowsy and can’t think properly. Then everything goes dark.    -Isaac’s POV-  I catch her before she hits the ground. I look at Mrs. Adams with murderous eyes, she just did a spell on her.  “She’ll sleep for a bit. I’m sending you in but you are not going alone. My nephew Zachary will go with you as well. Magic will help keep the spirits at bay.” She says motioning the other teacher to go get him.   “Spirits?” I ask not knowing how to feel about it but, I can feel chills going down my body. Spirits are something my fists and fangs can’t do much damage to.  She nods. “Yes, spirits. Edward Grayham and his household were cursed. They were killed by witches for... atrocities that Edward committed and their spirits were damned to live for eternity in a plane of existence where time does not fluctuate. Think of it as limbo. And if an unfortunate soul would cross their paths, it would be like a living hell for them, which is what I’m sure Luke is experiencing at this moment.”  I nod trying to pay attention but I am pissed. (This is such bull s**t. I have to go and save that fucker in a nightmare world. He’s going to owe me and he better not f*****g die. I’ll kill him if he makes Victoria cry... Fucker.)  I take Victoria to her room and place her on her bed.   “I’ll bring that i***t back.” I whisper and kiss her on her cheek. She looks so peaceful.  I sigh and head back to the living room where Zach is already here and being told of everything.  I look at Luke and at that stupid watch he has on.   (Why the f**k would he put that thing on knowing about the artifacts... dumb ass. You better not die.)  “Should we take that watch off?” I ask.  “No, he’ll be stuck there if we do.” The headmaster says.  I sigh.   Mrs. Adams finishes talking to Zach. Zach, who is as tall as I am, walks over to my side. He almost looks like a vamp. He has a little of that emo look with a piercing on his left ear and a black long coat.  (I know Vic would never find him attractive... right?... He looks stupid.)  Mrs. Adams looks at both of us. “We are going to create a link for you both, it will work as long as you both are close to the watch. So, I want you both to sit on each side of Luke.”  We sit next to Luke and then she looks at Zach.  “Don’t tell your mother what I am allowing you to do.” She says to Zach.  He smirks. “She’ll never know.”  I look over at him now feeling confused. “Why are you helping anyways.”  He smiles. “Three reasons. One, I am on the look for knowledge, and the more experiences I have with these kinds of things, the better. Two, It’s fun, and three... I like Victoria and losing Luke would make her sad. I don’t want to see that pretty little face sad.” He says that last part smirking.  “What the fuc-”  I’m about to reach over to him and grab him by the shirt but Mrs. Adams taps both our foreheads with her index fingers, chanting something, then everything goes dark.  The last thing I hear is the warning that Mrs. Adams gives me. “Don’t you dare lay a finger on my nephew or I’ll leave you stranded in there.”
