1132 Words
The next day, Amberlene woke up with a smile. It was past the morning of three o'clock and the usual routine began. Wearing again her favorite hoodie and rubber shoes, she went out of her room and headed straight into the main door of her mansion. No one was around, and she can freely jog again without anyone seeing her early in the morning. She started walking then running slowly towards her secret garden, the restricted area where no one is allowed to see or visit. With ear plugs in her ear and turning on her favorite music, she started jogging. Amberlene was immersed into listening when she suddenly bumped into an unknown figure. She immediately removed the earphone on her ears and saw a familiar face? “Conrad?” “Young master?” The guy suddenly kneel in front of her and apologized. “Why are you kneeling down?” “I'm sorry, young master. Forgive me for seeing your face.” “Oh my God! You did? Oh! No!” Amberlene panicked, and she doesn't know what to do because Conrad saw her ugly face. She even asked him several times if he really did saw her entire face. “Are you sure, you did?” “Yes. And maybe. I saw your eyes.” “My eyes? What about my eyes?” “It's hazel brown. Beautiful, young master.” “What?” “Forgive me, young master. Forgive this sharp tongue of mine.” She wanted to scold him, but she can't. She wanted to kick him out, but she really can't. Her routine was destroyed by his presence, and she has no choice, but to return to her chamber. “Then, I have to go back to my chamber. Do not follow me. And whatever you saw earlier, erase it on your mind. You know what the consequences are, right? For the sake of Yaya Dolor, because you are her nephew, I will consider your case closed, for now. “ She turned around. She ran as fast as she could without turning back. Amberlene was really surprised seeing Conrad bumped into her. “What on earth is he doing early in the morning? And why didn't I realized that there's another butler roaming around earlier than me?” A lot of questions keep popping out in her mind while running towards the direction of the mansion. When she finally reached the main door, she went inside, headed to her chamber and dived into her bed and shouted with pillows in her mouth. “Why are you kneeling down?” “I'm sorry, young master. Forgive me for seeing your face.” “Oh my God! You did? Oh! No!” “Are you sure, you did?” “Yes. And maybe. I saw your eyes.” “My eyes? What about my eyes?” “It's hazel brown. Beautiful, young master.” “What?” “Forgive me, young master. Forgive this sharp tongue of mine.” The scenes continued showing in her minds and she can't even get out of it. Of all people, why did she ever run into him? “Then, I have to go back to my chamber. Do not follow me. And whatever you saw earlier, erase it on your mind. You know what the consequences are, right? For the sake of Yaya Dolor, because you are her nephew, I will consider your case closed, for now. “ It was popping like a pop-up bars in a computer inside her head that she can't even concentrate on what to do next if ever she saw him again. Three hours have passed and Amberlene heard the sound of the rooster and other noises outside her chamber. When she got up and went into her bathroom, she saw her ugly faces even look uglier because of her big black eye bags. It was already past three hours after her encounter with Conrad and now, what she got was a black eye surrounding the areas of her eyelids. If chambermaids and butlers were allowed to see her face, they might bully her for acting uglier in a horror movie. It's about time for her breakfast and everything. So, she let her chambermaids prepare everything, except for the last task, yaya Dolor will be the one to do it for her. “Oh my God, darling. What happened to your eyes? You did not sleep well?” “It was because of Conrad, yaya.” “Why? What did Conrad do to you, and I'll scold him.” “Yaya.” She cuffed her face into her and hugged her yaya Dolor. The old lady understand and let her speak. “Then, I'll listen. Speak, Amberlene.” “Conrad saw my eyes. I think he pretended that he did not see my entire face. So, how can he just saw my eyes, right?” she started telling her yaya. “I was running towards my favorite spots when I accidentally bumped into him then the rest was history. Yaya.” “I see. Do not panic okay. I will talk to him later and tell everything about you. But you have to promise me to be careful next time. Okay?” Amberlene nodded and felt that someone was able to understand her predicaments. “Why don't you let your chambermaids and butlers see your true face, darling?” Those words coming out from her yaya Dolor seems too good to be true. She just shook her head as a sign that she can't do that. She was still lacking self-confidence. “If you are afraid that they might bully you or gossip you, it's normal. Let them be. You are the head of this mansion. There is nothing to be afraid of. If you are lacking self-confidence, then why don't you try at least talking to Conrad face to face.” “If I expose myself, yaya, what will happen then? What if they leave and never return, or they will start saying nasty things about me. You know our family history, and I'm afraid that it will only cause disturbance or shame to my family's business.” “Have you ever tried? Have you ever think of praising yourself for once in your life?” When did I ever tell you that you are ugly? Remember this, Amberlene, the hearts of kind one are bigger than those of scumbags. There is no harm in trying, my darling. Just give it a try, at least to my nephew, Conrad.” After talking to her, yaya Dolor leave Amberlene inside her chamber, full of ifs and buts on what she heard from her yaya. The old lady has a point and what she was lacking was courage.
