Ersa:
It took a few days before we were fully settled into the packhouse, our bedrooms were huge and unfortunately far from each other. I grumbled from under my breath at the realization that my sister's bedroom was far away from mine. It would make things more difficult; how would I know if she needed my help?
It hasn’t been that long since her first shift into her wolf form and she still wasn’t aware of how to use her new wolf abilities. Eli had been trying to teach her how to open the mind link and communicate with us when she needed us but Deia was stubborn. Teaching her was like teaching a rock, she wouldn’t pay attention and was too busy being in Lala land.
Sometimes I was amazed at my younger sisters’ ignorance, she had been spoiled her whole life with people protecting her. She was a wolf born with a silver spoon in her mouth with a great destiny presented to her even before she took her first breath into the world.
I had been walking down the hallways aimlessly wandering around the mansion to get a feel for the place. A man's voice floated out from a nearby room, his calm voice drew me to him. I quietly walked over to the open door and curiously snuck my head around the corner to get a look at the man.
It was the same man who had been walking beside the Alpha when we first arrived. He was talking on the phone in hushed tones with his back to me. He had light brown hair that was in a tousled mess and broad shoulders.
I sniffed the air curiously to pick up on this curious man’s scent and looked at him bewildered when I realized that he was a mere human. My eyebrows rose with curiosity as the realization hit me, it was rare that we encountered humans as we typically stayed away from them yet there was a human living in the packhouse.
My long black hair hung loosely over my shoulders as I leaned over the door frame so I could get a better look at him. There was nothing spectacular about his scent or his posture, I was drawn to him simply because he was a human.
He turned around as he said something on the phone and spotted me staring at him from the doorframe.
“I’ll call you back,” He said to the person on the other end.
I thought about fleeing at that moment, but this man had already spotted me. My legs didn’t want to flee, and my feet were finding themselves walking into his bedroom.
“You must be Ersa,” He said as he looked me over with an approving smirk.
“Yeah,” I said simply as I tugged my loose onyx hair behind my ear.
A blush rose to my cheeks as the realization of what I had chosen to wear that day. I had chosen a black dress that was completely backless, the hemline just covered my ass. The material was thin and clung to my curvy and slender figure in just the right way. I hated feeling restricted by clothing as a wolf’s natural form was to be naked. I felt more like myself when I stripped my clothes away and embraced nature.
People think that I have a deeper connection to the world around me then others do. They say it may be due to my inherited bloodline, even if I may be half-blood. There was no way that I was an incarnated god as my father must have been a simple Lycan. My mother refuses to reveal my biological fathers’ identity which didn’t bother me.
“I can see why Ezra is so drawn to you,” The man said.
My back stiffened at his mention of the Alpha who I had discovered upon arriving here who was my mate. My eyes must have gone wide from shock as he brought up my mate. My mate who had shown such open hatred towards me, a man who I had refused to give in to the moment those eyes full of hatred glared into mine. The human chuckled as he took in my intense reaction from his words.
“I’m Ryland,” He said with a smirk on his face.
“I don’t care who you are,” I snapped at him.
I hadn’t meant to respond in that manner, but I couldn’t help the sour taste that had formed in my mouth at the mention of Ezra.
I found myself slowly examining Ezra's younger brother Ryland and I wasn’t disappointed with what I saw. He wasn’t supernaturally attractive like Lycans were. Instead, he held his air of mystery about him with something held in his eyes that wouldn’t allow me to look away.
His messy hair fell slightly in his eyes as he instinctively brushed it back and exposed his deep blue eyes. I felt like I was in an ocean as I gazed into his eyes and was unable to pull my gaze away at that moment. My eyes were drawn to his lips as he smirked at me when he caught me staring at him. I quickly looked away from him and cleared my throat as I quickly grasped at the words that were floating before me in my head.
“Ezra hates me, I could see it in his eyes,” I said as I kept my eyes focused elsewhere.
“Whatever you say, Little Wolf,” The human named Ryland said with a chuckle.
He took a step closer to me and examined my body with an approving smile. His sudden movements made me look back at him quickly as my eyebrows scrunched in confusion.
What is he doing?
Ryland's eyes lingered for a moment too long on my breasts, it was something that suddenly made me self conscious. I folded my arms embarrassingly as a blush caressed my cheeks. I was hoping that my arms would cover my breasts, breasts that would catch any man's eye for their size. I quickly looked away again from Ryland’s intense gaze and tried to focus on something other than him.
