"What? No records?!" Lisa blurted out as she massaged her temples. She's currently inside her new office in JH, Inc. "Dig deeper! I'm paying you double your fee so do your f*****g job better!"
"Wow. I'd hate to be the guy who pissed you off," Jung Hoseok—the company's current CEO, said as soon as she ended her phone call. "Who is it this time?"
"No one," she lied. "It's about some tech thing."
"You're not fooling me, Lis," he said as he propped his elbow on the table. "I cleared my sched for you. You can tell me everything."
"I'm having seconds thoughts about stabbing you with this pen right now."
"Is that the right way to treat your boss?" Hoseok teased.
"You're hardly my boss," she answered. "Have you read my proposal? I left it on your table this morning."
"Already? You're really an overachiever. Was and still is."
"You know I aim to please, Hobi."
Hoseok chuckled as she called him by his nickname. It's a known fact that the Kims and Jungs do not see eye to eye. But in Lisa and his case, it doesn't apply. They've always been close for as long as they could remember.
The fact is, they were both the competitive ones in the family so they always see eye to eye. They might have years between them but they treat each other like they're the same age.
"I'm still here wondering why you chose to be a COO when I offered you to be Jaegu's new CEO," the guy said as he played with his tie. "Still scared you wouldn't be taken seriously just because you're a girl?"
"I'm not that petty," she defended. Then she grinned. "I want to be CEO of JH, Inc. Not Jaeju."
Hoseok laughed. "I should be so scared right now."
She winked at him. "You should be."
The two laughed before her intercom suddenly buzzed.
"Ma'am, there's this guy here claiming to be you brother. Should I let him in?"
Lisa turned towards Hoseok.
"Maybe it's Tae," she said. "I told him last night that you hired me."
"Then why will he come here?"
"Maybe to give me a welcome party?" She then pressed the button. "Sure. Let him in."
"What the fvck is going on, Lisa?!"
Both Lisa and Hoseok were supprised when the double doors of her office bursted open. Kim Seokjin was fuming.
Did she forget to mention that Jin hated the Jungs? Specifically Hoseok.
"Oh hi, big brother," Lisa greeted. "I see you've heard the news."
"What the hell are you doing here in JH?! They're our rival company!"
She chuckled. "Well, Hoseok offered me a job. Since I recently got fired, I took it. I can't afford to be jobless, you know."
Hoseok was trying his best to stop himself from laughing.
"You think this is funny?" Her brother was still furious. "What will everyone say when they find out you're working for the enemy? Or worse, what will grandma say when she finds out?"
"I already told grandma last night, though," she answered nonchalantly. "So far she hasn't done anything to sabotage me so... yeah. And oh, I also took Jaeju and ECM with me."
"You what?!" He blurted out and his hand flew automatically to his forehead. "Those were supposed to be our biggest deals, Lisa! How can you betray me like this?"
"Betray you? You betrayed me first," she spat. "And I thought you said the company doesn't need me? And that you can manage without me? I took ECM and Jaeju because they were all mine. Grandmother was about to marry me to whoever it was she wanted to buy Jaeju from. So it's basically mine. ECM, you wouldn't have known if not for me. Plus they didn't want YK. They wanted me."
Lisa took her bag and marched pass her brother.
"Let's go, Hobi oppa," she said making the latter stand up. "I scheduled us a meeting with the Breiswells. Their new app is very promising."
The blonde went out of her office elegantly. Hoseok chuckled a bit as he gently patted Jin's shoulder.
"Your trash, my gold," he said smiling. "See you around old friend."
Jin cursed.
"Lis does have a point," Namjoon said. He's currently reviewing some papers when Jin suddenly went to his office ranting about his sister. "You fired her, Jin. You can't expect her to beg or anything."
"And you're taking her side? I thought you were my best friend?" Jin whined. This made the guy sigh.
"I'm not taking her side, Jin," he explained. "She did what she did and you did what you did. But you can't stop her from doing what she wants."
"But there are tons of other companies around. Why JH, Inc.? Why our rival company?"
"You know your sister better than anyone else, Jin," Namjoon stated as he took his glasses off. "And she wants to piss you off after you fired her. She knows you too well."
"But it was her fault!" He insisted. "She keeps messing with Jisoo. I can't let that happen."
"You surprised her with the engagement, Jin. And you know how your sister is very protective of you after the Sooyoung thing."
Jin looked away.
"You almost died, Jin. And it scared the hell out of Lisa since she was the one who found you. So it's normal for her to be this protective of you."
"But I was young back then."
"Young or not, she wouldn't risk you taking your own life again," Namjoon argued. "You know I'll support you all the way but your relationship with Jisoo was just too... fast. And seeing as you don't even know she had a brother? That's pretty much one of the basic things you should know about the girl you're supposed to marry."
"Ugh!" Jin admitted defeat. "What should I do, Joon? Should I just hire her again?"
"It's up to you, Jin," he answered. "But I don't think it'll be that easy. I mean, Lisa's stubborn. Just like you. And she's already the COO of JH, Inc. can you give her the position you just gave to Jisoo?"
"Shit."
"I can handle it, Kook. You shouldn't have done that. What if Jin finds out about this?" Jisoo bit her lip as Jungkook told her about his plans.
"It's about time someone makes her see she's not the high and mighty she claims to be, noona," he said as he sat on the couch inside his sister's office. "She's spoiled and self-centered. She deserves it."
Jisoo heaved a sigh. "Don't tell me I didn't warn you, okay? I know she can be a pain in the ass but from what I've learned, there's a reason why she's who she is right now. She's in this business since she was sixteen."
"And I've been doing this since we I was ten," he argued. "I know what I'm doing. I will get her off your back. And we will finish our job."
Again, Jisoo sighed.
How can she tell him she has no plans in finishing their job?
"What? He blackmailed you?!" Chaeyoung blurted out as soon as Lisa told her everything that happened after the party. "That bastard!"
"I know," she said as she took a sip on her cosmo. "I already hired a private investigator. But he can't fond anything about him. No dirt. At all."
"Wow. You finally found your match, huh," her best friend said as she munched on her salad. She's looking literally like a chipmunk right now.
Lisa's brow raised. "Match? Excuse me. I'm not gonna let some con artist manipulate me."
"I thought he was just blackmailing you?"
"Blackmailing leads to manipulation, Chae," she said. "Doesn't Jennie teach you anything? You'll be handling Park Holdings with her soon."
"Who said I'm getting into the business?" Chae pouted. "You know I'm not cut out for this corporate thing. I'm actually opening a club in Gangnam."
"And you tell me that just now?" Lisa was genuinely shocked. "What kind of best friend are you?"
"It was an out of the blue thing," she defended. This made Lisa skeptic.
"Is it because of that bartender you flirted with on our night out?" Chaeyoung closed her mouth and looked away making her eyes grow wide. "Park Chaeyoung!"
"What?" Chaeyoung answered innocently. "It's a good start-up business."
"You're wasting money just to impress a boy."
"I. Am. Not!" she insisted but Lisa knows her best friend like the back of her hand. She's a true blue hopeless romantic and she'd do everything for it. "Fine! But it's not a total waste. We can always hang out there and surely it would give me profit in one way or another."
"Whatever makes you sleep at night, babe," she replied as she took a sip from her drink.
"Bxtch," Chaeyoung muttered jokingly.
"Thank you," she replied winking. "Where's your sister, by the way? She said she's joining us for lunch."
"Why don't you ask your brother? Those two are like horny bunnies I just can't with them."
"Jealous much, Chipmunk?" Lisa teased making the latter throw a raisin at her. "When was the last time you got laid? I mean, you're being cranky at those two for a reason, right?"
"You know I don't go sleeping around 'til it's true love," Chaeyoung whined. "But I'm working on Chanyeol. Hence the club business."
"Oh my God! You desperate bxtch," she laughed out loud making her best friend pout. "You'd go through all that trouble just to get laid? Seriously, Chaeng. Let's just find you an easy lay, okay?"
"It's true love, Li. I swear."
"True love, my ass," she spat. "True love is just a myth everyone wants you to believe so they could sell flowers and chocolates."
"Says the one who imprinted on Yoongi's d**k," Chaeng countered. "Is he really that good? I mean, that's so not like you, Li."
She rolled her eyes. "You make it seem like I'm a—"
On the far end pf the restaurant, an unpleasant smirk caught her attention. Jeon f*****g Jungkook was walking towards them making her brows furrow. This did not escape Chaeyoung's meticulous eyes so she followed Lisa's line of sight.
"Oh my God he's so handsome!" She whispered-screamed. "Looks like your charms are working overtime—"
"That's him, Chae. That's the i***t who's blackmailing me."
"What?! That overly handsome guy is the one blackmailing you?" she exclaimed. "Wow, Li. I'd tap that in an instant."
"I thought you said you're not that type?"
"In every rule, there is an exception," she said grinning making Lisa roll her eyes.
"And here I thought only I get the liberty of seeing you roll your eyes like that," the f*****g bastard said as soon as he reached our table.
"What are you doing here, Jeon? As far as I can remember, you can't afford places like this."
Instead of taking offense, the guy just smiled. Which of course, pissed her even more.
"I can't but you can," he said as he took the place of her bag sitting nicely on the chair beside her. "I'm craving for some rib-eye. You?"
Jungkook's arm rested on the backrest of Lisa's chair as he leaned on his. Chaeyoung was shocked at his audacity but also because he looked like a dashing bad boy with his leather jacket, black shirt and black ripped pants. Even the girls from the other tables couldn't take their eyes off him.
"Did you save an entire Nation, Li?" Chaeyoung suddenly asked her best friend without taking her eyes off Jungkook. "Wow. Just... wow."
"Don't let looks deceive your innocent soul, Chae," she answered before calling the waiter. "Give him everything he wants and put it on my tab."
The waiter nodded.
"I need to go. I still have to meet with Yoongi—"
"Oh you're not going anywhere, doll," Jungkook stopped her. "You're staying and you're gonna have lunch with me."
Lisa's forehead creased.
"Excuse me? Who the fvck are you to order me around?"
This made Jungkook smirk.
"Your new boyfriend."
