CHAPTER 5: A FRIEND

"Can I go now?" I asked him. I'm currently at his office doing nothing but stealing glances and watching him do his work.His office is so boring! He doesn't even talk to me. He's just checking me up on what I'm doing and I sometimes notice him grinning when I stumble. There's not a lot of books to read because all of them are off limits. They contain private matters about the Kingdom and as much as I want to read anything, It will be hard for me to understand what's written in those articles. I should let this beast with his business if he can at least let me deal with mine. Damn this selfish beast! I don't even know why he wants me here. I don't know if he's enjoying this silent treatment he receives from me or he just wants me to get pissed because that's what satisfies him.

"Why?" He said and stared at me again.

"I'm getting really bored now." I said in a low voice. The room was too silent. If I whisper anything he'll hear it. The only other noise you will hear is the sound of the trees and plants in the garden beside his office. "You too right?" I asked unsurely. His blue orbs took a glance on me once again. Why am I feeling this? He smiled and awkwardly stared at me for a minute before speaking.

"No. Not at all." he said and winked at me. I felt hom quick my heart jumped because of his words. I was silent for a few moments before he spoke to me again.

"No. I'm actually enjoying myself with a very nice view." I blushed. He's looking from my chest up to my face. How can he say that without caution?!

"Well.. I'm not! I'm leaving." I said and stood up. I quickly turn around and face the door to hide my tomato face. Why am I blushing?! He's being naughty. He's toying with me and there's no way I will enjoy that.

I heard him chuckle.

He's enjoying this?! Ugh. Am I really marrying this man? I can't even imagine myself living with this beast. If he could just be a little more manly things won't get too much complicated. Unfortunately his angelic face doesn't match his attitude.

The guard quickly stood in front of me. They are wearing armour. I raise a brow before pushing him aside. But he grabbed my arm and pulled me back.

"Alpha's orders." he whispered.

"Let me-"

"Release her. Don't touch her or I will kill you. Let Amythy do what she wants." He growled in full authority.

I remained still when I heard him. Does he really mean that? Does he really mean what he just said?

The guard quickly let me go and I stomped out of the room. Let me do what I want? Well that sounds great to me. Is escape an option to it? Probably not. Let's see how long his patience can get if I do something stupid. Will he even care if I will be gone for a day? But I'm thankful he let me go and wander around. I'm really bored.

I went to the kitchen and am now studying the menu. I don't know what's their best food here..

"Try the carbonara. It's the best." A girl sitting beside me said. She is eating the same food she recommended so I ordered one.

"I'm Claire. And you?" Her eyes were bright blue and her hair was colored blonde. She's wearing a leather jacket and a pair of jeans and boots. She got the looks and that sense of coolness on her. I think she's amazing.

"I'm Amythy. It's nice to meet you." I smiled at her. When she smiled at me I knew it. She's an awesome person and I hope we can get along so she could help me.

"So.. Amythy. Are you alone?" she turned to me. I sat beside her and a drink was placed in front of me by one of the servants

"Ugh yes. I'm new here." Suddenly I don't want to bring up Xander and who I am here. I mean, I don't know if he wants to keep what's ours secret or whatsoever. Ot might also put me to risk knowing I'm going to marry the King of this Kingdom.

"From where?" she said. I took a sip on the red looking juice in front of me and I answered.

"Coble." I said bitterly. My home town is now gone and just the memories remained. The Coble is very welcoming, it's warm when winter and alive in spring. Festivities were commonly held in summer and ended in Autumn. People there treated each other equally. Even though there's a lot of travellers and tourists passing by, we always keep our place clean. That place also reminds me of my grandma who just passed away. I missed her.

"Oh.." She trailed off. She must've heard of what happens to it. Ever since Xander came to our village and claimed me, everything changed completely. Including the fact that I will never see that place any more.

"So I suppose you know Hailey?" she asked. I almost jumped out of my seat to hear my best friend's name. Of course I know that nasty woman.

"She's my best friend!" I chirped. No one forgets Hailey and that's because of her personality. She's very friendly and easy to get along with. When you were exposed to her funny side there's no way you won't laugh.

"I see. She's my sister." she said coldly. That shocked me. They're quite different looking from each other.

"Where is she now?" I dared to ask. I want to hear positive things from her please.

"She's gone. But not dead. She just left the town and sent me a letter that she's gonna be okay. And she found someone to be with. And then until now there's no clue where she went and with whom." so that means she's alive. That's good to hear. One of the reasons I want to see Coble again is because of her. The thing now is she found someone for her. I never heard about her likes and dislikes about boys. She's not that kind of woman who cares much of relationship status and can stand on her own. I wonder who she's with.

"The nerve of that girl!" I hissed. She didn't tell me anything! Did she plan this over time and didn't dare to even give me clues about it. She's not a secretive person when it comes to me. Also how can she make Claire worried like this? I do wish I can have a sister I can rely on.

"Oh yea. I know." she rolled her eyes. She looked down and I sighed. She must be exhausted from worrying about Hailey.

"I know Hailey. She may not look mature but she actually is. She can handle herself out there. She sent you a letter knowing you will understand. I know her reasons will be explained to you when you meet each other again. She's fine Claire. You need to cheer up and wish the best for her."I said and she smiled at me. It's quite a relief seeing her breathe and at least feel better.

"Thank you Amythy." She hugged me and I giggled.

"Friends?" I said and reached to give her a hand. She laughed before holding my hand for a handshake.

"Sure! friends." we laughed together. Somehow this place is not that boring anymore. The power of friendship is truly wonderful.

"Do you have plans today?" she asked.

"None. I'm actually bored. That's why I came here to eat and wander around. How about you? Do you have some?" I asked and nodded her head.

She grinned.

"Let's watch at my house then! I'm actually living alone there." she said and I gave her a nod.

"Sure!"

Her house isn't that far from the castle. Actually it's in the castle grounds . Her house was located near the left wing of the castle where you can see the forest. It looks like a vacation house and bed for castle guests. I unconsciously remembered Xander. He said I can do things that I want right? Watching movies is something I don't mind doing. I'm sure he's not going to find me here. I'm excited to see his annoyed face.

"What are we gonna watch?" I asked after finding a very comfy seat on the couch. Claire's house is neat and clean, but I wonder why she lives alone.

"A Dog's Purpose." she said and played the movie. She handed me a big bowl of popcorn and so we started watching.

"I live alone. And sometimes my mate comes over to check on me." she said and munch a few more popcorn. "Since he's on the defence and one of the Chief Patrols here in the castle. He was assigned to monitor the forest and that's why he wants me here so we could be near each other." 

"A mate? You mean you're a werewolf too?"I asked.

"Yes. ." she answered.

A few moments after I found myself crying. The movie is way too touching and I can't help it but cry. I love dogs! Oh how could this movie make me cry. I don't know how people can be so cruel and make dogs suffer when they are called best friends. Dogs don't deserve the hate because they deserve all the love in this world. I glanced at Claire who was in the same situation as me.

The movie ends and we just like to stare at each other.

"You look sick." she jerked out.

"And so are you?" I laughed.

The moments later is way too fun. But it suddenly ends when someone knocked on the door. I don't know who knocked but I slightly feel a little scared. I glanced at the window and its already dark. I enjoyed the movie and I didn't realize it was this late!

"Strange. I don't have visitors during mondays. Jake is coming on Thursday and usually at night time." she said. She opened the door and I remained seated in her room.

I heard a loud thud.

"Claire?" I called.

"Alpha?!"   "What do you need?"

"Where is she?!"

"Who?"

"Don't play dumb with me."

"What are you saying?"

I heard silent chats. I tried to take a peek but I decided not to. They continued for about ten minutes. I can't believe he found me here. I have this feeling of guilt and regret that I don't want to entertain further. I just know that this would be a long night.

"Amythy?!"

Xander?!

"Amythy. It's time to go now." he said and held my hand. I look like a kinder girl who just got my parent walking me home.

"You're.. Here?" I stutter. I don't know what to say! I can't believe this.

"Of course. I won't let my Luna in trouble. Let's go now." he said and pulled me beside him. He wasn't alone but with two other men waiting for us outside.

"Take care of her." Claire said. They seem to know each other as they were talking so casually.

"I will."

"Jake, you can stay here." he said to one of his guards.

"Really Alpha? But I'm on duty." the man said.

"Stay here with Claire. I can put someone on your duty for tonight." he said and left the man with awe and happiness.

I smiled, he's being kind.

We went out and took a small walk from the castle grounds to the main hall. It was cold so he gave me his coat and I can feel the warmth of his body.

"Are you hungry?" he asked.

"No. I have already eaten." I answered.

And we arrived. I'm sleepy indeed. Crying is really tiring eh? I swear I'm gonna watch that again.

As we moved around I was about to turn and bid goodbye to him when his grip tightened and I was pulled back to hin.

"Where do you think you're going?" Xander asks.

"Ugh.. To my room?" I told him.

"No. You're sleeping with me." I blushed.

"No I won't sleep with you?!" I can feel my face is like a tomato right now.

"Why not? You're my mate anyway and not to mention my future Queen." he said and grip my hand.

"No."

"Yes."

"No you can't."

"Of course I can."

"Try me."

"WHAAAAA!" I screamed when he carried me.

Damn this beast!

"LET GO OF ME!" I shouted. How is this possible?!

"We will sleep together."

"NO!"

"Yes my love." he said and ran through the hallways with a superb speed. I'm so embarrassed right now. What if someone actually witnessed this awkward moment?!

"XANDERRRR!"

I hate you!
