"What was that Maddie? You almost get yourself killed. What would you do if I wasn't there, huh? Would you just be careful next time? I told you not to, but you still did." Chrys reprimanded me like his little sister while we are walking in the woods with our horses. We lost them, or we are lost. I guess the latter.
"Well, guess what? I'm still alive." I let out proudly.
That was so fun even though my forehead hurt and somewhere on my arm is aching.
I searched for the pain in my arm and I felt something wet. And, I hope that it's just my sweat again.
"One day, you'll regret your recklessness and blah blah blah…" Chrys kept talking but I'm too tired of listening to him. I'm old enough to know if what is good for me. Or not? Damn, I should quit smoking already.
"Are you hurt?" The girl behind me asked as she noticed that I flinched when I found a wound on my right arm. Damn those men!
"No, I'm fine," I said as I put pressure on it.
She tried to touch it but I moved it away from her.
"It's bleeding, isn't it?" She's not nosy, isn't she? But I think she is just concerned.
"I said it's fine," I repeated a little bit annoyed.
"Are you even listening, Maddie?" Chrys asked as he noticed that I'm ignoring him.
"Huh? Oh yeah. We should stop here." I uttered and made Reo stop from walking.
We stepped down from our horses and took a seat on some logs and rocks.
Then, I pulled out my lighter and made it lit.
"Damn, it's bleeding hard, Maddie! Why didn’t you say that you are injured? Oh my gosh! Why'd you always get yourself killed?" He yelled and ranted while searching for some branches and dried leaves.
He made a bonfire and the girl went near me.
"Let us tie that up to prevent it from bleeding." She stated as she removed the cloth that she used to cover her face and her head. Then, she tied it on my wound gently.
"It's fine. I just ne---" I said but she cut me off.
"Shh. You need someone to heal it. I know somebody, and I can take you to her." She stated and she looked at me.
Now, I can see her face clearly. She got blonde hair and I can't figure out the color of her eyes since the light from the fire is dim. She doesn't look bad. She's actually gorgeous. How can a very beautiful girl like her be a thief?
"Umm… You mean a doctor in a hospital, clinic, or a health center?" I asked her and she got a confused look on her face.
"What's that?" She asked while showing her beautiful smile.
"A place where the sick is healed," I explained.
"I don't know those. But I know where you came from." She replied and that made me curious.
"By the way, what's your name, Miss?" Chrys asked her as he was done and handed me my lighter.
"Melina is my name." She said and that's a beautiful name. Wait a minute, when did I know what's beautiful or not? I'm not adoring this thief. Not at all.
"Oh, nice to meet you. I'm Chrysler and she is--" He said, but she cut him off.
"Car." She uttered, and yeah, that's what I introduced earlier.
"Yeah. Sounds like a vehicle to me." He said and whispered the last part, but I heard it. And, I just gave him a middle finger.
"So, how's your wound, Maddie?" He asked as he checked up my arm.
"It's gotta be fine. Do we still have something to eat?" I answered and asked him since I'm so f*****g hungry.
"Well, we still have apples and bananas." He answered and went to Lera where he hangs the basket.
"Great! I know that we can't go back to that village. So, we better sleep here in the middle of the woods. What do you think?" I suggested, and Chrys gave Mel an apple and tossed me a banana. I tossed it back to him and I asked him the apple in his hand. He didn't argue but gave me a middle finger.
"It will be very dangerous to sleep out here. There are lots of wild animals and the dragon might be lurking around." She explained, and did I hear someone mentioned dragons, again?
"Wait a minute, a dragon? Tell me, Mel, what is this place?" I asked her since I have been so confused lately.
"Mel? That's a sweet nickname." Chrys butted in and I just glared at him. He just gave me a knowing look. Is he shipping me with this girl?
"Sadonia." She answered, and I thought she's someone in the right mind but I guess she's not.
"Why are all the people that we met keep talking about Sadonia or dragons? What the heck is this all about?" I let out in frustration because of all these happenings.
"I know it's hard for you to believe because you came from the future. I have read the prophecy and I believe in it. The kingdom needs you both, Heroes of Sadonia." She stated and she seemed so serious. You might be so pretty, but I think that you are nuts too.
"But time travel is very impossible to happen. Yes, I have seen movies and read stories about it, but it's just fiction. Not real. And, I know that this is not real at all." I said and she just kept nodding her head while Chrys is just listening and agreeing with me.
"You are chosen by the gods and goddesses. They sent you back here because they know you can defeat them, and that future that you came from is in your hands. What happens in the future depends on what had happened in the past." She explained and this is totally freaking me out.
I just sighed, and then, she held my hand. Then, I felt something weird with her touch and I look at her.
"You just need to believe, because I believe in you. We need you, Car." She said and it somewhat made me think. Should I believe her?
"I don't know. It's just so sudden, and why me? Us?" I said and she gave me a warm smile.
I looked at Chrys and he's in deep thoughts.
"Because there is something special in you. They have seen it." She answered and stood up.
And, I just let out a deep sigh and stood up as well. I am not a special person, I mean, I have nothing special in me. I am just one hella girl that doesn't even know how to stop smoking which is bad for my health.
"We need to keep going. Let me lead the way." She uttered and we started to walk while dragging our horses behind.
We made a torch from some branches and cloth.
"Umm. No to be rude, Mel, but why did they accuse you of being a thief?" I asked her curiously while we are walking. I mean, why should we trust a thief in the first place?
"I came from the palace and my supplies and my horse were stolen as I made my way to the east. I got nothing to eat for two days, and I decided to steal some bread and fruits from a stall in the market in Tehori. But I was not good enough to escape. I know it's wrong but I needed it. They captured me and made me a prize to somebody who can defeat Mito. Then, you came and saved me." She explained and stopped, then, looked back at us.
"It's my first time to steal something. And it was so shameful." She continued and I understand her.
"It's okay. Circumstances come. Just like how we needed the gold coins because our money is unacceptable in that village, so, I took the risk to fight Mito." I said to comfort her.
"Yeah, it's totally fine, Mel. Sometimes we are forced to do things that we are not used to for us to survive. Even if we can hurt someone or hurt ourselves." Chrys started with full of emotions and I just looked at him weirdly.
"Okay, enough of your preaching, Preacher Chrys. Let's just keep walking." I told him jokingly.
I looked at Mel and she has been looking at us amusingly.
"Uh, can I ask you something? Are you some kind of uh... A couple? A husband and wife?" She asked unsurely and I got choked by my saliva.
"What? No! Him? Her? No way!" We said in unison and we stared at each other. Then, we laughed because we got the same instinct.
"No. He's totally not my type and he is gay and a douchebag and a jerk." I stated truthfully and he rolled his eyes at me. A boy that can roll his eyes is gay.
"I mean. No. Maddie is a monster. I will never like her, but she can like you. She likes girls." He said and whispered the last part. But I heard it clearly, and I glared at him. Then, he just jogged ahead.
"What did he say to you?" I asked her and she just shook her head.
"It's nothing. There should be some river nearby." She answered and said as we hear the sound of water flowing.
"Yeah, there is," I said and we went to the river.
---
We followed the river and I guess we are going the opposite way from which we trek earlier.
I can see a house ahead and I hope that we can stay the night there.
Then, Mel knocked on the door as we tied our horses on some bushes near the house.
Somebody opened up and they talked. We can't hear what they are talking about, but then, Mel signaled us to come in.
"Good evening, Travelers. What took you so long? I have been waiting for you for hours." She greeted and I guess I know who she is.
"Vina Parros?" Chrys asked and she nodded. Damn it!
