Chapter 8 - Witch House

"Hello! Anybody home? Hello!" I knocked on the door while yelling. This house is also made up of wood. And, one thing is running in my mind right now, I hope that they are not witches and they have at least a phone, or they know if where could be the road back to the city. "There should be somebody inside because there's light in there," I mumbled, and when I am about to look by the window, Chrys held tight on my shoulders. This coward is not helping at all. "What?" I asked him and he made me face the door. The door opened, and there, stood a woman in her early thirties. She has blonde hair and wearing clothes that are like clothes a long time ago. I gulped and she just stared at us like she's waiting for the next thing that we will do. I composed myself and breathed in deeply. "Uh... Good evening, Ma'am. Sorry to bother you, but can we ask you something?" I said and asked her politely. Well, I guess she's not a witch. She looks too pretty to be one. "What can I do for you?" She asked and smiled a familiar creepy smile. It's just that the thought of her being a witch is not escaping my mind. f**k that old Wondi Parros. "Well, umm… Do you happen to have a phone? We just need to call home and to know where is the way back to the city." I asked her and she seemed puzzled. "A phone? What is that?" She asked curiously. Why do people around here don't know what is a f*****g phone? "It is a thing that can make calls or send a text message to somebody in another location. And, it looks like this." I explained and ask Chrys to show his phone. "We don't have anything like that. Umm, why don't you, two, come in? I have just cooked dinner and we would be happy if you will join us." She stated and she said 'we'. That means she's not alone in here. "No, Maddie. If you are going to eat their food, there would be no way to escape from their spells. We will be stuck in their dimension forever." Chrys whispered, and here he goes again with witches and magic. I didn't listen to him, but instead, I asked the woman something. "Uh, you're not alone in here?" She stepped aside and motioning us to get in. "These are my daughters, Rita and Penny." She said, and there are two cute little girls stood in front of us shyly. I guess they're somewhat seven and five years old. "Hi, there! Nice to meet you. My name is Carreon and this is Chrysler." I greeted them and introduced our names. They gave me a sweet smile and they ran away to somewhere, I guess it's the dining room. "They are shy because they don't always see people coming here." The woman explained and she's actually nice. Chrys finally let the hem of my shirt go and just walked on his own inside the house. The only source of light they have is from a lamp. "Oh, umm… Where is their father?" I asked her and she's leading us to the dining room. "Well, he is at the palace of Sadonia because he is a warrior. They are preparing for the---" She answered and I cut her off. Did I just hear it right? "Wait, what? Sadonia?" I asked her confusedly. I guess people in this place are crazy. "Yes, Sadonia. You are in the kingdom of Sadonia. We have been waiting for your arrival. And, we are glad that you finally came on time. You are the ---" She said and I just have nothing to say. Chrys scooted closer to me and I know he is scared. "Alright, hold on a second. Mrs….?" I stopped her and I don't know her name yet. "Forgive me for not introducing myself. My name is Tessa Parros." She apologized, and with what she said, I kind of wonder that she's related to Mrs. Wondi Parros. I looked at Chrys and I guess we have the same thing in mind. "I suppose you have met my mother, Wondi. She gave you a map going to the palace and that is why you are here." She said and that's it. They really are related. I have goosebumps all over my body since that means that she's a witch too. "Uh... Oh, yeah, yeah. She… she did." I stammered and my mind starts to wonder. This must be just a prank. "Umm, Tessa? Are you a witch too?" Chrys asked her and I nudged him. Why the heck would he ask her that? He's being so rude. "Yes. I am the Witch of the South." She answered and this is too much. Nope, this is not real at all. "Alright, enough of this witchy thingy. Are you people pulling us a prank? This is not funny at all. We need to get home because we're lost and have been walking the whole day, and we are starving. We need to get home because our parents and friends are so damn worried about us by now. Maybe they have already called the police." I ranted and she just gave me a familiar smile. I scratched my head out of frustration and sighed deeply. "Please. Just tell us if where is the way back to the city. Please. That would be a very big help." I begged her and she motioned us to follow her to the table. "You need to eat and spend the night here because it's too dangerous out there by now. I'll show you the way to your home tomorrow." She stated and I turned my head to Chrys. And, I could see on his face that he's really hungry. "Alright. Thank you for the food, Tessa." I said and she nodded with a smile. I put on some food on a wooden plate. Well, I guess it’s potato and some green leafy vegetables. There's also a bread that looks like what I ate earlier. "Are you really going to eat, Maddie?" Chrys whispered while leaning nearer to my ear. We have no choice. I'm so f*****g hungry. "Yeah. She said she'll lead us the way home tomorrow. She's just being kind." I whispered to him and he just sighed. —— "Thank you so much for letting us stay in your cozy home, Tessa. We should keep going now. So, which road should we take?" I thanked her and asked. It's already morning and we have already eaten breakfast. It has been so kind of her to let us sleep and eat in her home. "No problem. I am tasked to let you stay here on your first night in Sadonia." She said and here we go with Sadonia again. I thought when I wake up, it will be just a nightmare, but f**k, no. "Ah... Yeah, right... So, where is the road back to the city?" I asked her again and I'm a little bit annoyed. I just want to go home. Where the heck is Chrys? "You need to go to the east of the kingdom and you will meet there my sister, Vina. She will be the one to give you things that you need in defeating the last dragon." She replied and I breathed in deeply. Dragons, hmmm. "Is the east the way back to our home?" I asked her and not minding the dragons that she said. Then, here showed Chrysler that brought with him a basket full of fruits, bread, and water. Where did he get those things? "Yes. And, before you go, I have something to give you. Come with me." She stated and we followed her going to the back of the house. Now, I wonder what she has to offer since she has already done too much for us. "These horses are solely for the two of you. They're all yours to keep. They will help you on your journey here in Sadonia." She uttered and pointed at the very beautiful and strong-looking horses. Is she f*****g serious? That's so damn expensive. "Woah, seriously?" Chrys asked and clearly fascinated by the creatures in front of us. I just looked at them while observing their features in awe. "Yes. Go on and choose the one you like." She said and Chrys put the basket on the ground, then, went near the horse that is in the color of white and black. That one surely looks so beautiful. The other one is purely black, and for me, he's just perfect. Tessa took the horses and made them ready for everything. And, I guess Chrys knows how to ride a horse since they are rich. What can I say? But for me, even though I'm glad about this, I'm worried about one thing. It's not that I don't know how to ride a horse, but are they telling the truth about what place and time we are? Like, come on, who would give you expensive horses and offer you food and a house to stay? And, who got a house that could go invisible? I just don't know what to think anymore. I think I'm going nuts. --- After everything is set, I looked at Tessa and she just gave me a warm smile. She's really nice. But I still don't know what is real or not. "I guess you are ready to go," Tessa let out as she handed me the rope of the black horse. Then, the creature walked in my direction and I got face-to-face with him. Everything about him is something mysterious. He's staring deep into my eyes and I don't know what to do with him. "Uh... I... I got one problem, Tessa. I don't know how to ride a horse." I said truthfully and Chrys is already on the back of his horse. "Oh! That wouldn't be a problem. He's intelligent and he knows when you need help." She stated and I stepped on the footrest, and then, jumped to his back. Okay, this would be the first time that I will ride a horse. Well, there's the first time in everything, so, yeah. I wonder if I could bring him home. But where should I put him? We said goodbye to Tessa and thanked her for everything. And, her two kids also waved goodbye and told us to take good care of ourselves. They're just so adorable. Now, we have to go to the east of Sadonia. I just hope that it's already our way back home. But maybe Sadonia is the city? We'll just see about that.
