Chapter 4 - Seriously?

2300 Words
"Aaaaaaah!" We're both screaming while we are falling. And, I opened my eyes and we are still falling. Oh f**k, how deep is this one? I wish I will still be in one piece when we land, but I think that would be impossible. The asshole kept screaming at the top of his lungs too, and I can't see anything at all. Few more seconds have passed and we landed luckily in a deep body of water. Don't tell me that this is the center of the earth? I tried to swim to the surface but it's too deep. And, I kept swimming and swimming until I reached there and gasped for air. That's hella scary as f**k. Then, I tried to feel myself, and thank God, I'm still alive, but my arms and face are soring because of the impact. I swim while hoping to find the side but I ended up finding a wall. Now, how am I gonna climb when I can not see anything? I just hope that no poisonous insects are lurking around here, or worse, a crocodile, piranha, anaconda, an octopus, or any creature in the water that could devour me wholly. Geez, I really should stop thinking about unnecessary things right now. Or giant vampire bats. Oh, shut it, mind! I wonder if where is the bastard. Is he still alive, or he drowned? Damn, I'd be accused as a murderer if that happened. f**k that reckless move of mine. I should have listened to Kate. I kept swimming to the side and trying to find a way up when I heard somebody is calling my name. "Maddison! Maddison! Maddison!" It's the jerk. Well, I guess he's still alive then, and he's somewhere on the other side. "Damn, she might be dead. Oh, God, help me. It's so dark." He's talking to himself and he seemed trembling. "Somebody, help! If you can hear me! We need help! Maddison is missing, and I can't find her. She must be hurt! Somebody, help us! Please!" He kept screaming for help, and I never thought that he cared for my safety. Well, that's unexpected. He should be happy that I could be already dead. "Maddison! Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry. Did I kill her? No, no, no. Damn it! This is all my fault. No, it's her fault. No, she's dead. And I'm gonna die too. I'm such an idiot." He kept blabbering and I kept swimming to the other side slowly. Why does he care for me anyway? It went quiet for a moment and I heard a sob. Is he crying? Well, that's new. I guess boys do cry too. But for what reason he's crying? I don't want to think that it's because of me who might be dead already. Or maybe because he's injured. Yeah, of course, he is injured because of me. I finally reached the side and I laid down on my back while catching my breath. Maybe Mom was right about her bad dream. s**t, if I could just turn back the time and I have trusted her instincts. I just can not imagine her losing all she cares for. "Maddison, I'm so sorry." He muttered and he really is crying. Oh yeah, he's crying for my death. "If I hadn't been such an asshole, it couldn't have happened. Forgive me." He said and that's good that he realized that he's not doing great. --- Moments passed and he called out my name again. "Maddison! Carreon Maddison! Maddi---" He called, and this time, I finally cut him off. "Will you stop calling my name, it's so f*****g annoying," I said sternly and I guess he's shocked or rather surprised. Then, I stood up while trying to find my Zippo lighter in my pockets. This pit must be really really deep since the sunlight can not even shine down here. "Oh my gosh! Maddison, you're alive? Where are you?" He let out in surprise and he tried to find me. And, I can feel that he's near me, so I stepped backward. "Stop right there," I stated, and then, I felt something warm embraced me. f**k! "Hey, hey, hey! What are you doing? Ew! Let go, asshole." I exclaimed while I pushed him off of me forcefully. Damn it, he's being so clingy. "I thought you were dead." He let out and he tried to touch me again. "Get it together, asshole, if you don't want me to give you another punch in the face." I threatened him and he seemed to stop. He took a deep breath, and then, after five long seconds, he spoke. "Okay, I'm sorry." He apologized and I sighed. The only thing in my mind right now is… how will we get out from here? I can not die here with this prick. We should find a way out. "This is all your fault." I blamed him since he's the one who ran away in this direction. "Woah, hold up. You're the one who came punching faces." He retorted and accused me. This is definitely all his fault. "Hey, you're the one who ran away." I spat and he's about to counter. "You chased me. And... you were trying to kill me." He argued, and there, he's so f*****g wrong. "You broke my best friend's heart and you ran away. I'm just trying to give you a lesson." I stated and he just sighed. "Yeah, I guess this is all my fault then. I'm so sorry for Katelyn." He uttered and apologized. That's great, he finally accepted that it's his fault. "She is actually an amazing person, but the problem is in me. I was such an asshole." He added and I just kept my mouth shut and just listened to him. "I don't deserve a girl like her. She's just so perfect, but I still broke her heart. I never thought that she's freaking serious about all of it. Damn, I am such an asshole." He continued and I can sense a trace of guilt in his voice. "It's good that you knew," I said and I tried to light up my lighter but it won't since it's soaking wet. How did the water get in it? Maybe it's broken? I guess it'll light up later. "Yeah. It's just, I can't... Uh… I don't…. Know what's happening to me." He began and I have something for him. "Oh, you don't know? Let me tell you then. You break girls' hearts, play with them, and change girlfriends almost every week. Do you even know that they have emotions too? They get hurt, Dude. They're not machines, or video games." I spat at him and he's just quiet. "You better stop before you encounter someone who is more violent than me. They could kill you or bury you alive six feet under the ground while you are sound asleep." I added and I guess he's in deep thoughts. Some people would really do that. Lucky for him, I am not that psycho. "I get it. I finally know the answer now. I'm gay." He confessed, and with that, my mind went empty. I just don't know what to say. "What?" I asked him in shock. Well, well, well, the great heartbreaker is gay? This is a horrifying revelation. "Yeah, I'm f*****g gay. That's it." He said happily and it's my turn to be quiet. "Well, good for you," I started and I'm still trying to sink in the information. "Yeah, since I kinda figured it out. I never ever felt something intimate for them. You know what I mean. Girls. It's just plainly nothing. And I find males very attractive and hot. I just don't want to accept it at first. But… Yeah, here I am." He explained, and okay, everyone is valid whatever their sexuality is. "So, that's why you change girlfriends every week?" I asked and he chuckled. I just can't believe it yet. "Hell yeah! Well, I thought I could find one, but I failed too many times. And, I kind of feel sorry for all those girls. But then, here came the great Carreon Maddison that made me awake and finally come out. Thank you, Maddie." He replied and thanked me with a foul nickname. "Okay, but stop with the Maddie nickname," I told him and he just laughed. "Nope. That's the p*****t for my bruises and a broken nose. There's a lot more and it so damn hurt. You know that?" He uttered, and with that, I laughed. Yeah, right. "Well, for you to know, that's for breaking my best friend's heart and all those other girls you've left brokenhearted." I stated and he just agreed. "So, uh, umm... We're friends now?" He asked and I thought for a while. Should I make friends with him? Maybe. I'll give him a chance. "Hmm. In one condition." I said while thinking about a good condition for this friendship building. "Oh, okay. What is it? Just don't make me come out to everybody yet. I'm still not ready." He asked and I guess he's interested. I won't let him come out into the open from his little closet. That would be his decision whenever he is ready. "You will apologize to all of those girls you've left broken-hearted," I stated and he gasped. "Seriously?" He asked to confirm. "Yep. Then, we'll be friends." I confirmed and I guess he's thinking about the condition. I mean it wasn't so hard. But if he already forgot their names or faces, then that would be so difficult. I'll just ask Lesley about Chrysler Hale's playlist. She amazingly keeps track of them. "Okay. Deal." He agreed without hesitation. Well, I got one thing to describe to him. He's brave. "Deal," I said and closing the agreement. I tried to light up my lighter and this time I succeed. "Yey!" He rejoiced and I looked at his face. Damn, it's awful. "Well, I guess this is a well or something?" I said as I looked around this place. "Yeah. I just hope that Pennywise isn't here. Or this might be a cave. Hey! Don't kill the light." He let out as I killed my lighter since it's fuel is not unlimited. "We need to find a way out before we ran out of fuel," I said and searched for some branches or leaves but there's none. Then, suddenly, there's light coming from his phone. Great! He got his damn phone this whole f*****g time and he didn't even try to open it earlier. "I thought I left this on the bus. It's waterproof actually." He stated as he finally opened the flashlight in it. "Great, now let's explore this place," I said while trying to look around and it's so wide in here. It's like a cave and there is deep crystal blue water in the middle. This is one hella magnificent view down here. "Wait... Wha...What if there are wild poisonous animals or insects in here." He uttered anxiously. Alright, I'm taking it back, he's not brave, he's such a damn p***y. "Then, we will decay in here. We'll find another way out since it's too deep from where we fell." I suggested and he seemed afraid of the thought of dying here. "Okay. Let's explore then." He agreed and led the way, but suddenly stopped. "Should we go left or right?" He asked since he doesn't know which way should we trek. And, neither do I. Then, I looked at the water and asked him for something. "Do you have anything light, or money, a bill?" I asked and he tried to search in his pockets. "I have one." He replied and handed me a one-hundred-dollar bill. "Great! Let's try to see if where do the water current flows through." I said and crumpled the bill and put it lightly on the water. "If the water flows, then there's a way out. Hah! You are so freaking smart, Maddie." He let out, and yes, he finally got my point. "Let's follow the flow of the water. Let's go left." I said and we started walking. I can see that there are big rocks on the side and the water is so calm. --- While walking we kept talking about things and looking at the surroundings in awe. It's like an underground river, and it's just very beautiful. Then, I almost bumped into him when he suddenly stopped walking. "What are you doing?" I asked him and he went to the wall and wrote something using a pen that I don't know where he got it. "A mark. Whenever we find this way again, we will know that we have been this way." He said, and he doesn't wish that we would get lost, isn't he? I looked at it and it says, 'Chrys and Maddie were here, 9-25-20' "Seriously? A mark, huh?" I asked and we kept walking. He stopped again and took some pictures. "Damn, I have only 10% left in my battery. And, there's no service here." He exclaimed, and yeah, damn it. We can't call for help. --- We kept walking until we heard a roar, I guess it's a roar. "s**t! I'm hungry." He said and I let out a laugh. "Yeah, me too," I seconded and I think we are walking for almost an hour now. Where does this cave end? He stopped again and mumbled, "It's a dead end." "What?" I asked and looked at it. It really is. I guess my wish just came true. "There's no other way but underwater," I stated and tried to feel the current of the water. "No, no, no! My clothes just dried." He complained, but it's not only his.
