Family Ties: Amber Eyes series 2

Chapter Five

May POV 

I can see Ryan still staring at me but I don't really care, I'm focused more on Colton. 

' 'I can't swim' my ass, that b***h was swimming perfectly fine before!' I say to Hera. 

Hera growls. 

Colton walks over to me. "We need to talk, I'm serious." He says. 

"Yeah well so am I, when you decide that you want to talk about your little situation." I say looking behind him at Cassandra. "Then I'll be willing to talk." 

He closes his eyes and breaths. "May for the love o-... tell me about that guy." 

"NO." I say to him with a serious expression. 

I smile and wave him away. I'm done with him right now and all I want to do is have some fun and forget about everything. 

I walk away to where Micah is, leaving Colton angry.  

"So, there's still trouble in paradise?" Micah asks looking in the direction that Colton was in. 

I shrug my shoulders. 

I look at Jason and think. (He knows about Colton and Cassandra but, I don't want to hear it from him, I want Colton to be the one to tell me.) 

(I miss him, I miss hugging him, kissing him, and talking to him.) 

I decide to forget it all, I drink and drink until I feel happy. About ten drinks in and I know I'm tipsy right now, so I stop drinking or there will be a repeat of the skinny-dipping incident. 

We are having fun, the music's loud, we start playing games and at this point, I'm not even looking for Colton anymore, I have no idea where he is. 

"You know what we can play? Chicken fight." Micah yells. 

"Wass that" *giggles* Sammy says babbling. 

"Oh s**t! Sammy's drunk." I shout. 

We all start laughing, Jason is tipsy too but not Micah surprisingly, maybe it's because he has to drive tonight. 

"How do... how you play sshicken?" One of our new girlfriends we just made slurs. I don't even remember her name but she's really drunk too. 

"You sit here." One of the new guys says pointing at his back. 

"No, you sit on the shoulders and try to knock the other person off." Micah says. 

I lift my arm up. "Oooh I'll win."  

(I can easily overpower everyone here, I mean except for Jason, the rest playing with us are all humans.) 

I start to climb on a random guy's back which was very stupid of me because Colton grabbed me immediately from behind and put me over his shoulder. 

"Not happening." He says walking up the stairs of the pool with me over his shoulder. 

"Let me go! I can do whatever I want!" I yell at him. 

"Not when it involves climbing on another guy." He says. 

"You hypocrite!!"  I yell making no sense wiggling and kicking like a child. But he doesn't say a thing and just keeps walking. 

I stop resisting and put a hand on my chin looking at everyone laughing at me. 

He keeps walking all the way to the car. 

"We're going home." He says opening the door of the car. 

"Fine!" I say in a grumpy way. 

"Hey Colton, could you take me home too, I drank a little too much." We hear Cassandra say. 

Colton looks at me and I smile at him. 

"Of course he'll give you a ride home, get in." I say a little too nice. 

Colton's eyes open wide. 

"... Ok, .... thank you." She says cautiously. 

We all get in the car and start driving. 

"Which one is your house?" Colton asks. 

"Oh, your father gave us the big house at the corner of Wallow's Rock, I think that's what they call it. It's just a minute from the packhouse." She says. 

(I already knew that cause I made sure to know where she was staying... hence why I agreed to take her home.) 

Colton nods.  

"You know, there's a reason why they call it Wallow's Rock." I say to her. 

"What? Why?" She says. 

Colton looks at me puzzled. 

"A human girl got murdered there 15 years ago, and ever since then, they can hear a girl wallowing in sadness at night. They can sometimes even see her." I look back at her with a serious expression. 

She looks horrified.  

"I... oh." That's all she says. 

I turn around and I can feel Colton staring at me, and I want to laugh so much but I hold it in and we just drive in silence. 

We get to her house and I can see the Wallow's Rock, it's about 30 feet from her house. 

(I really don't know why they call it that but works for me.) 

'Goddess how funny would it be if I sneaked here at night and started screaming my ass off.' I say to Hera. 

'Yes! We should, and wear that mask you have, we probably scare her to death.' She says laughing maniacally. 

We stop in front of her car and I know she's going to ask Colton to walk her to the door. 

"I'll walk you to the door if you want?" I ask her before she can say anything. 

She looks between me and Colton. "No, it's fine." She says and gets out of the car. 

I lower my window. "Seriously, if you hear someone wallowing at night, call us and I'll come immediately. Sleep tight." I give her the sweetest smile I can.  

She just looks at me with wide eyes and walks away. 

I close my window and look at Colton. He's looking at me looking like he wants to say something, but he just looks back to the road and we start heading home. 

'Yea he better not say s**t to me.' I say to Hera. 

'But, do you think that was cruel of me Hera?' I ask her. 

'No.' She says. 

'Ha! me neither.' I say with a smile and feeling satisfied. 

We get home and I go right to bed, I take my bathing suit off and go to sleep naked. I hear Colton breathe deep but then he goes to sleep right next to me. I'm obviously still angry so I keep my distance. 

The next day, I can feel him stroking my hair and saying something. I finally manage to open my eyes. 

"Sweetheart, I have to go, my dad wants to see me." He says whispering in my ear. 

"Okay, love you." I say sleepily. 

"Love you too." He says and kisses my cheek. 

I go back to sleep and wake up after about an hour. I have training soon so I start to get ready. But while I'm getting ready, I look out the window and I see Cassandra talking with Colton on a bench near the forest. I know I shouldn't but I open the window and start to listen in to their conversation. 

"But I really do miss you, you know. When I saw you that day at the Ball, I was so happy, but then you just ran off and ignored me, and that hurt. I left right after I saw you." She says almost crying. 

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you Cass." Colton says. 

She smiles. "You know that what we had was special Colton and I miss you so much." 

He sighs. "Cass, listen, you know that I don't want to hurt you... I love May, she's everything to me an-" 

She... KISSES HIM!!   

He quickly holds her back. "Cassandra! you can't do that!" Colton says almost yelling. 

I take a deep breath holding my hands clenched into a fist and shaking, trying to keep Hera from taking control. 

"Colton, I know you better than anyone! Let me show you what we had is much more than you could ever have with her." She says crying. 

He stands up from the bench. "Cass-" He starts saying but she gets up and holds him tight and then kisses him again. 

"Cassandra! enough!" He shouts pushing hard enough that she almost falls, but it's too late. 

Hera took control. 

All I can do now is watch what she does in my body. 

She jumps down through the window and starts walking calmly but menacingly towards them. They are still talking but I can't make out what they are saying. Colton looks agitated and neither of them notices Hera walking to them. 

Once she's about ten feet away Colton looks in our direction but it's too late. Hera lunges fast and grabs Cassandra by the throat pinning her to a tree. 

Hera quickly lifts a hand with her claws out about to s***h Cassandra but Colton grabs her before she can do anything and pulls her back. Cassandra falls to the ground holding her throat and Hera starts fighting Colton trying to get out of his grasp. She claws him on the arm and that loosens his grip.  

'Hera!! Don't hurt him!' I say yelling at her but she doesn't hear me, she's gone wild. 

She tries to run back to Cassandra but Colton grabs her again. Hera maneuvers herself away from his grasp and lunges at him instead. 

'NO!! Hera stop!!' I scream at her. 

But she doesn't, however, he wasn't her target. At the right moment, she twirls around Colton and runs to Cassandra, and jumps, shifting in midair with our clothes ripping. Hera is about to sink her teeth into Cassandra but something hits us hard from the side and we roll on the ground.  

It's Matt in his wolf form. Hera doesn't care and lunges at him. She starts fighting him with full claws and teeth. He tries to pin us down but he can't, we are just as strong as him. 

(How is this possible, he's a beta?) 

Hera claws at him but he dodges, she looks back at her real target but Matt gets in front and Colton goes to our other side still in human form. Hera growls at them. 

'Please Hera, calm down, don't hurt them.' But she can't hear me. 

She rushes Matt and he stands his ground. We both stand in our back legs and push at each other baring our teeth. Colton grabs me from behind still in his human form and holds us. Hera turns her head trying to bite his neck but he holds her head to his chest pinning her tight on him.  

"May calm down." He says but Hera just gets more agitated snarling and growling. 

"I'm sorry baby." He whispers and holds us in a chokehold.  

Hera starts losing consciousness and starts to shift back. I start to take control back of my body.  

"I'm sorry." I say crying and trying to breathe. 

He loosens his grip and I take a deep breath. 

"Hera took control and I couldn't stop her, I'm so sorry." I say sobbing and holding on to him. 

"It's okay, you have nothing to be sorry for." He says holding me and stroking my hair. 

"No, it's not okay, we hurt you." I can't talk anymore and I just cry. 

"Shhhh it's okay, I'm fine." He keeps saying. 

"Are you okay?" Matt says now in human form. 

I nod. 

"What happened!?" Alpha Marcus says walking towards us with Luna Heather, Luna Meira, and Jackson behind him. 

"She attacked me!" Cassandra says crying. 

"What?" Heather asks. 

Marcus looks at all of us. "IN MY OFFICE, NOW!" 

Colton takes his shirt off and puts it on me, he helps me get up and we all head to the office. 

Colton explains everything that happened in detail. 

"What kind of Luna are you!?" Meira says looking at me. 

Colton looks at her angry and holds me. I bury my face in his chest feeling ashamed. 

Marcus sighs. 

"She's just the same as you and Heather." Marcus says to Meira. "In the same situation as her, any one of us would lose control of our wolf."  

"Someone else trying to take our mate!- What were you thinking Cassandra!?" Marcus yells." Do you know how lucky you are to be alive right now?! I am very disappointed in you and your father will hear of this." Marcus says to her. 

"But-" Meira starts to argue but Heather cuts her off. 

"No buts Meira, she did wrong and with what I have seen so far, you encouraged it." Heather says. 

"You are our guests, and the respect that you all give to me is the same you should be giving to the future Luna of this pack." Heather says now angry. 

"Enough!  Everyone can leave except for Cassandra and Meira, I wish to talk to you two." Marcus says to them and Cassandra starts to cry.  

We all leave and I'm still under Colton's arms feeling very emotional. 

"Matt I'm sorry." I say weakly and starting to cry again. 

He smiles. "What are you talking about dumb dumb, I thought we were training." He starts laughing. 

I smile. 

"You did nothing wrong May, losing control of your wolf is not your fault." Jackson says. 

I get what he's saying but I still feel ashamed. Me and Colton head upstairs, once in our room. I take his arm to look at his wound. 

"It's fine baby, it's already healing, see." He says showing me his arm. To me, it still looks bad. 

I look at him. "I'm so sorry, I tried to stop her b-" He puts a finger on my lips. 

"Don't be sorry, I'm sorry. You were right, I should have drawn a line. I let it go too far because I didn't want to hurt her but I ended up hurting you instead." He hugs me and then sits me on the edge of the bed. 

He sighs and sits next to me holding my hands. 

He looks at me. "Me and Cassandra..." He pauses. 

"Cassandra and I dated for three years. We... were in a serious relationship." He pauses again. 

I don't ask anything and just let him take his time and speak. 

"I cared for her very much and at some point, I thought that... maybe I loved her." He breaths in. 

"We were... each other's... firsts, for everything." He says lowering his head. 

I know it's stupid and it's his past but I can't help but feel a sharp sting in my heart. Tears escape my eyes, I try to look away but he holds my face and wipes my tears. 

"At some point, her father found out and wanted us to stop seeing each other, especially because we hadn't gotten our wolves yet. Cassandra wanted at that moment to elope and that's when I realized that it wasn't love what I felt for her because I wasn't willing to give up everything just to be with her. Once I realized, I broke it off." 

He holds me tight. 

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I didn't want to hurt you." He says holding me in a hug. 

I hug him back. 

"Thank you for telling me." I say to him, I look up at him and kiss him. 

(I'm done with this stupid fight.) 

"I love you." He says cupping my face with his hands. 

"How about we stay here all day, we eat and watch movies, how would that make you feel?" He says smiling. 

I smile back with tears still coming out. "Yes please." 

He kisses me and we spend the whole day making up for this whole horrible week.
