Chapter 2

Busiest week came to Silver as he is the one who manage his business and his family business. Sa sobrang tambak na trabaho ay halos sa opisina na siya natutulog, he always thought that hard work is the key to success. Ayun din kasi ang itinatak ng kanyang ama sa kanila, that is why he admires his father.

"Sir, call from your mother." Wika ng secretary niya. He just nod and signed him to leave, ni minsan ay hindi siya nag hire ng babaeng secretary. He doesn't want any distraction to him, lalo't alam na niya ang kahahantungan kung babae ang secretary niya.

Agad niyang inangat ang telephone ng tumunog ito. It was indeed his mother when he heard her sweet voice.

"Hi baby.." his mother said kaya't wala sa sariling napangiti siya. He is a momma's boy ever since so he loves his mother that much that he can't turn down any of her favors.

"Hello Mama, why did you call?" He said. And put down everything his doing at that moment.

"Wala naman, I just missed you. Can you come home tonight?"

Silver sighed and look on his table, he can't but he can't also turn down his mother. Kaya't kahit marami pang gagawin ay sumang ayon siya dito.

"Of course, I will come home tonight." He said and smile.

"How are you and Dad?" He asked. Sa sobrang pag ka busy ay madalang na siyang nakakauwi, his office became his home.

"We are good but we miss our baby so much. Alam mo naman, matanda na kami ng Daddy niyo, gusto din naman namin kayong makita."

"Okay, I'll visit you tonight Mama." He said. "Don't be sad alright. We are just really busy."

"Oh my baby boy, alam mo naman na hindi maiiwasan ang hindi malungkot." She said with a hint of sadness in her tone.

"I know Mama, and I'm really sorry."

"I know you are." Keana said. "O sige na I will wait for you tonight don't be late."

Silver smile before bidding goodbye to his mother. Sandali niyang isinandal ang likod sa swivel chair at pinikit ang mga mata his tiring works is not yet over, dahil imbis na mabawasan ay patuloy itong madadagdagan. He sighed and massage his temple before pressing the intercom.

"Lucas, I'll be home tonight." Wika niya sa secretary niya. "You can leave my work on my desk."

The day passed by so quick that he didn't notice the time it was already 7:30 and he needs to be home now, kaya't mabilis niyang inayos ang mga gamit bago lumabas ng opisina, tahimik na ang piligid he thought that he's the only one who left but someone approach him before he even get on the elevator.

"Good Evening Sir." He looked beside him where the man in suit is greeting him smiling from ear to ear.

"Good evening." Formal niyang wika. "I need to be home early, Tell me what do you need."

The man beside him fidget and blurbing something he can't hear.

"Kapag bumukas ang elevator at hindi ka pa nag salita then you are fired." Cool niyang wika.

"Ipapasok ko po sanang Janitor yung kaibigan ko!" The man said exactly as the elevator door opened.

"Bring her or him to me, I'll be doing the interview one on one by Monday. What's the name?" He simply said before stepping inside the elevator leaving the man behind.

"Ice Maki Portez, Thank you Sir!" Pahabol na wika ng lalaki bago tuluyang sumara ang pinto ng elevator.

"Good evening anak." Wika ng kanyang Yaya simula pa bata sila. He smiled and kiss her cheek before greeting her.

"Good evening Manang." He said. "Where is Mama?"

"Nasa kwarto anak, masama nanaman ang pakiramdam." Agad siyang na bahala sa balitang iyon at mabilis na nag paalam sa ina-inahan na aakyat muna.

He immediately went upstairs to his parents room and knock on the wooden door.

"Dad, How's Mama?" Tanong niya sa ama ng mapag buksan ito ng pinto.

"She's fine medyo na hihilo lang dahil kanina siya ang nag prepare ng dinner para sa 'yo."

He sighed and shook his head, it was almost nine PM lagpas na sa usual dinner nila kaya't nagu-guilty siya na hindi nakauwi agad ng maaga.

"Mama..." He whispered and sat beside her mother. Keana is lying on the bed eyes closed but when she heard his voice she immediately opened her eyes and smile sweetly to him.

"Hello My prince." She said and caressed his face. "Have you eaten? Let me prepare your food ––"

Tatayo pa sana si Keana pero agad na siyang pinigil ng anak.

"Mama, I can do it myself you need to rest." He said and kiss her forehead. "Hindi muna ako uuwi sa condo I'll stay here for the night."

"She's been wanting that for long." Eros said and hold his wife's hand. "You know your Mom she loves to baby you and your sisters."

Wala sa sariling napatawa siya at tumungo, yup that is what his mother loves to do.

"Kahit naman malaki na kayo ay baby ko parin kayo." Natatawang wika ni Keana at hinawakan ang kamay ng anak. "Silver anak, when will you get married? You are turning thirty this year pero ni isang babae ay wala ka pang dinala dito sa bahay?"

"Mom I'm not ready for that marriage thing yet." He said and sighed. "You know that right."

"Yes I know but baby, we are not getting any younger. Gusto ko naman na makita ang apo ko sa inyo bago kami kuhain ng diyos."

Silver sighed and look at his father for help pero ngumiti lang si Eros at umiling.

"Alam mo naman na iyon ang matagal na naming gusto ng Daddy niyo, we want to have grand kids dahil wala na kaming naaalagaan na bata simula ng mag si paglakihan kayo." She said pout.

"Mom I–I ... Fine I-i will bring my girlfriend here next week." He said at alanganing ngumiti. For goodness sake, wala naman siyang girlfriend sino naman ang dadalhin niya?

"Oh really?" Her mother's face lights in happiness and eagerness. "What's her name? Kailan mo siya dadalin dito, I should prepare for your wedding as soon as possible."

"Mama. What wedding?" He said shock.

"You are marrying her right?"

"Mama I-I–– we have just been dating for y-years."

"Well that's enough for you to marry her." She said cheerfully. "You should give us a grandchild soon too, oh and the wedding should be grand and fabulous ––"

"M-mama that's not necessary, T-the truth is that. W-we are already married."

Shock became evident in Keana and Eros face that made him gulped.

"What?!" Galit na tanong ng kanyang ama. "And you didn't bother telling that to us?"

"Well, I was planning too but you caught me now so here." Pag sisinungaling niya. He can't have a grand wedding, No he will not have that s**t of thing in his life.

"Well it doesn't matter anymore, you are married and you should atleast introduce your wife to us right?" His mother said with excitement in her voice.

For goodness sake, saan naman siya kukuha ngayon ng asawa? He can't just bring some w***e inside their house.

"What's her name son?" Eros said.

Tila natigilan naman siya sa tanong ng ama, rinig niya ang kaba at mabilis na pag t***k ng dibdib habnag pino proseso ng utak niya ang tanong nang ama.

"Silver your father is asking you a question." Keana said and hold his hand. "What's her name?"

"M-maki .. I-ice maki Portez."

"That's a very beautiful name. Kailangan makilala ko si Ice next week, may manugang na pala ako wala pa akong alam." Excited na wika ni Keana. "Dalhin mo siya dito next week okay, mag papaluto at at pauuwiin ko lahat ng kapatid mo even Amethyst."

Gusto niyang tampalin ang noo sa kasinungalingan na hinatag niya sa ina. But he can't take it all back, why would he even mention that name? Ni hindi niya nga ito kilala, makikilala pa lang.

"O-of course Mama. She will be here."

Araw ng Lunes at busy parin siya sa tamabak na trabaho. Natabunan na nga ng mga papeles na kailangan niyang pirmahan at aralin ang lamesa niya, he sighed and massage his temple. Idagdag pa sa stress at problema niya ang babaeng kailangan niyang dalhin sa kanilang mansion sa makalawa.

"Sir, Mr. Bruno Delos santos is with here with the applicant, he said that you already know about it."

"I didn't know anything about it." Seryoso niyang wika. "Make them leave."

"Copy Sir, itatapon ko na rin po ang resume nung applicant. Ice Maki Portez."

Tila binuhasan siya ng malamig na tubig at sinampal siya mg realisasyon bago mabilis muling pinindot ang intercom upang kausapin ang kanyang secretary.

"Send her in immediately Lucas!"

Tahimik niyang pinag mamasdan ang dalagang nakaupo sa kanyang harap gamit ang maliit na uwang sa mga tambak na papeles na nakaharang sa kanyang mukha. The woman looks scared, her hands fidget every minute and the sweat on her forehead is overflowing, not bad in the looks but the way she dress, she looks like a 18 century people.

The woman looks disoriented maybe because of the pressure. Somewhat a crept of smile appeared on his lips while looking at the trembling woman aitting across him.

"Why should I hire you?"

The woman became silent but she answered him with her shivering voice.

"Ah k-kasi po masipag––"

"Don't you have any different answer?" Pag putol niya sa sasabihin pa sana nito.

"A-ano po––"

"I want a different answer Ms. Portez"

Silence cross the room the woman's ragged breathing is the only sounds they can hear from the inside.

"I-I need this job Sir, k-kailangan ko ito para sa pag papagamot ng kapatid ko."

Masama mang isipin ngunit tila nabuhayan siya ng loob na tatanggapin ng dalaga ang kanyang magiging alok. She needs the money, she needs it badly. And he will took advantage of her needs

"You may go." Cold niyang wika, the woman sighed in defeat before turning her back to him showing her sexy curves. So he slowly stood up and lean to the table watching her walk in defeat.

"Do you really need the money?" He asked. Making her turn around, a gasped escape his lips when the woman turn around with her 'I really need it' eyes.

"Do you really need the money Ms.Portez?"

Wala sa sariling tumango ang dalaga.

"I have an offer to make." He said before walking slowly towards her direction.

"A-ano po iyon?" The woman said stuttering.

"I need a wife."

"A-ano po?"

"One million Ms. Portez, be my paid wife." He said.

Mahabang katahimikan ang bumalot sa kanilang paligid, mag kahilig ang kanilang mga mata, rinig ang malakas na pintig ng puso at ni isa ay walang gustong bumasag sa katahimikan.

"The rules is simple, I need you to marry me, leave in my house for a year and make my mother happy. Then after that you can get the half of the money that I'll be paying for you."

Pero tila na estatwa ang kaharap, so he started walking back to the table to lean playing with his pen.

"So what do you say?"

"Paano kung hindi ko tanggapin?" Mahina pero rinig niya ang bulong ng dalaga.

"Then go back to that the dumpsite you came from." Cold niyang wika. "I don't need to force you, I can get any woman I want but as you said, you need the money so I will give you this opportunity."

"P-puwede ko bang pag isipan?"

"I need the answer tommorow morning Ms. Portez, if you won't come then you can go back to that dumpsite of yours."

Ice felt belittled with every words the man infront of him were saying, alam naman niyang mahirap lang sila pero kailangan ba nitong ipag dikdikan sa mukha niya?

"I know that I'm poor, and I badly need the money but you don't step on me as if you owned me cause you don't." Cold na wika ni Ice mg hindi na matiis ang pang mamaliit ng binata.

"W-what?" Wika nito na tila na bigla.

"I maybe poor but I won't allow anyone to step on me, I'll be here tommorow morning. Have a great day sir." She said before walking away leaving Silver in awe and dazed.

"Ang kapal ng mukha niya!" Gigil niyang bulong nang makalabas ng silid, agad naman siyang sinalubong ni Macy na kanina lang ay nakikipag landian kay Lucas.

"Anong nangyari Bruha?" He said and smile. "Natanggap ka?"

Ice rolled her eyes, ano bang sasabihin niya? Na in-offer-an siya ng lalaking iyon nang kasal?

"A-ayos naman... B-bumalik na lang daw ako bukas." She said.

"May nangyari ba?" Wika ni Macy. "Binalahura kaba niya ng salita?"

Wala sa sariling tumango siya, hindi lang balahura. Ipinagdikdikan pa na mahirap pa siya sa daga.

"Uuwi na muna ako, babalik na lang ako bukas." Wika ni Ice kay Macy na ayaw pa yatang umalis sa floor na iyon.

"Osige." Wika ni Macy at lumingon kay Lucas na nakangiti rin. "Bye papa Lucas!"

Sabay silang sumakay ng elevator ni Macy, hinatud lang siya nito sa sakayan bago ito bumalik sa trabaho. Malalim ang kanyang iniisip hanggang sa makauwi siya sa condo ni Macy, she immediately took her phone to call her mother dahil nakapag pa load naman siya but her mother's message leave her heart sunk.

"Anak si Kylie... Sinugod ko sa hospital."
