Rose had slept, but not for very long and she was now sucking down coffee as if it held the elixir of life. Her eyes were scratchy and she'd been shorter than usual with Keegan this morning. In other words, her day had just begun and it was already crap.
Her assistant had called out sick and maybe that was a good thing. Rose had no appointments today. Paperwork would be just the thing to dive into, so when someone opened the front door to the office, she groaned. She wanted to be alone with her thoughts and her lack of sleep.
Heavy footsteps approached her inner office and she wished she'd closed and locked her door. If they thought she wasn't here, maybe they'd go away. She was a people person, but not in the mood for anyone today.
