I should have known that Alaric would have been bound to receive word of this and come here to change my mind. It was so predictable, so ordinary. There was absolutely nothing that he could do now that would surprise me, but I knew that there was still a lot that I could say right now that would be bound to catch him off guard. I didn’t fancy myself sharing his company, and I knew that everyone else felt the same way.
