At Ekkran

506 Words
The thundering sound of the ship bombarded across the Northern border. As soon as the ship landed, we immediately went out. The atmosphere suddenly altered. Ekkranians left me dumbfounded, really. I was like in a complete new world. Ekkran is some kind of a hi-tech kind of city as I can see. Lots of foreign infrastructures were towering around the city. But these people gives me creeps. Yea. They’re quite fearsome. Well, of course I knew that they behold such kind of bravery but it’s just so different to see them face to face. Of course they were born to be warriors. Being the sole border that barricaded between the Southern and Northern realms. It’s no surprise that they must not let their guard down. It should illuminate even in their appearance. They’re somehow all well built, as I can see. “Where are you from?” – asked the border guard “Here.” – said Eda as she handed our royal border pass along with my documents He then looked at me and give me a smirk. “Follow me then.” – he playfully said to me I was irritated in an instant. I hate being smirked at! Tsk. Even more so, being poked fun with. “I had a bad feeling about this one.” – I heard Eda said and I just shrugged In just a few turns, we’re already at a somewhat like an interrogation room. I was the only one allowed to come inside and Eda just stand outside to guard me. The man then just put my royal pass and documents at the desk and leave. Then there’s this girl, somehow a year younger than me. Sitting so comfy on the couch. Without looking at me she harshly grab my papers and take a look at it. I saw her squint a bit and look up to meet my gaze. “Take off the shawl that covers your face.” – she casually said to me “Serra from the province of Troav right?” – she added I then took off the shawl that covers my very face. “Oh, I see. No wonder King Lesvos sent you here. You sure are pretty gallant. Let’s see if you really has what it takes to compete for the Selection.”-she said “Show me your first pick.” – she added as she handed me the cards The first one is a photo of a hanging bridge. The second, a dark tunnel. Third, is a roaring lion. The last one, is a maze. “I’d go for the last photo.” – I said without a second thought. “Quite interesting huh.” – she mumbled “Okay. You may go then.- she said Like what was that? Just when I was about to leave, I saw her sliding somehow a trapdoor! “And Oh, by the way, see you soon. Serra of Troav.”-she added and what can I say? I just nod in reply
