Emily’s POV
As I was led through the dimly lit corridors of the building, my mind raced with a whirlwind of emotions. Fear, anger, and determination battled within me, each vying for dominance as I struggled to make sense of the situation I found myself in.
The two imposing figures flanking me remained silent, their presence was intimidating as they guided me deeper into the heart of Blackwood's domain. I couldn't help but wonder what awaited me at the end of this journey, what fate Alexander had in store for me now that he had me firmly in his clutches.
As we reached a heavy metal door at the end of the hallway, one of the guards pushed it open, revealing a dimly lit room beyond. I stepped inside cautiously, my senses on high alert as I took in my surroundings.
The room was sparsely furnished, with only a desk and a couple of chairs scattered about. There wasn’t even a bed here, but I could manage. At least it was clean. The air was heavy with tension, thick with the weight of the unknown as I waited for someone to come here and explain what the hell was going to happen.
Minutes stretched into eternity as I stood there, alone with my thoughts, I even fell asleep on one of the chairs. Today’s events had taken a toll on me. I was in an unknown place, not knowing what destiny lay ahead. In summary, I was screwed.
I began waking up, just to realize that I was in the same room as before. The long wait started again, and I found myself biting my nails waiting for what was going to happen next. Finally, the door creaked open once more, and he entered the room.
Alexander Blackwood.
He moved with the grace of a predator, his gaze fixed on me with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. But despite the fear that threatened to consume me, I refused to back down. I squared my shoulders and met his gaze head-on, determined to show him that I would not be intimidated.
"Well, well, well," he drawled, his voice smooth as silk as he circled around me like a hawk eyeing its prey. "Look what the cat dragged in."
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at his smug demeanor, instead fixing him with a steely glare.
“You brought me here, remember? Against my will.” He looked at me like he couldn’t remember what I just told him. It was clear that he was mocking me, he knew the situation that I was in, and he knew why I was here.
"What do you want from me, Blackwood?" I demanded, my voice tinged with defiance. "Why go through all this trouble just to silence me? Because I’m sure that is what you want to do."
Alexander chuckled a dark sound that sent a shiver down my spine.
"Silence you?" he echoed, his lips curling into a sinister smile. "Oh, my dear Emily, I have much grander plans for you than that."
My heart skipped a beat at his words, the implications sinking in like a lead weight in the pit of my stomach. I didn’t like what he was telling me, it was a darker fate than the one I had imagined.
"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. I wanted to punch myself, he was seeing me vulnerable, and I didn’t want to give him that satisfaction, but I couldn’t control myself. I was scared of what was going to happen to me.
Alexander's smile widened, his eyes gleaming with malice as he stepped closer until there was barely an inch of space between us.
"You see, Emily, I've been keeping an eye on you for quite some time now," he confessed, his voice low and dangerous. "And I must say, I'm impressed by what I've seen."
I frowned, confusion knitting my brows as I struggled to make sense of his words. Is that why he approached me at the gala? He already knew me?
"What are you talking about?" I demanded, my voice trembling with uncertainty. I wanted to understand what was going on because apparently, I was too careless to notice that he was tracking me.
Alexander's expression softened, his gaze locking with mine in a way that made my heart race.
"I want you, Emily," he said, his voice a low whisper that sent a shiver down my spine. "I want to mold you into something... special." The first part could be considered romantic, but what he said next was implying that I was some kind of object that he was looking for.
I felt a chill run down my spine at his words, the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end as a cold sense of dread washed over me.
"What do you mean?" I asked, again. I was trying to understand everything that was going on, but my mind was meeting a dead end. I had no idea who this man was, what he wanted, or why I was there.
I tensed, my heart pounding in my chest as I braced myself for whatever was about to happen next. This was far from over, and I knew that the true battle had only just begun.
As I listened to Alexander's chilling words, a mixture of anger and fear swirled inside me like a storm. How could he be so brazen, so cruel? But beneath the facade of defiance, a gnawing sense of dread crept in, reminding me of the danger I was in.
"You think you can just control me like some puppet?" I shot back, my voice trembling with suppressed rage.
"You're delusional if you think I'll ever bow down to you." The least I could do was show him that I would not let him control me. I left my home for that exact reason, and I was not going to allow another person to tell me what to do in my life.
But Alexander only chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"Oh, Emily," he murmured, stepping closer until there was barely a breath between us. "You have no idea how long I've been watching you, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make you mine."
His words sent a shiver down my spine, and for a moment, I felt paralyzed by the intensity of his gaze. But then, fueled by a surge of adrenaline, I pushed past him, my heart pounding in my chest as I confronted him head-on. He could not have me, I was not an object that he could acquire and do whatever he wanted.
"You're sick," I spat, my voice dripping with contempt. "Using people like pawns in your twisted games. Well, I won't be a part of it. I'd rather die than let you manipulate me."
Alexander's expression hardened, his eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint.
"You have no idea what you're talking about, Emily," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "But if you want to play hardball, then so be it."
Before I could react, he closed the distance between us in an instant, his hands gripping my arms with a force that left bruises in their wake. I struggled against him, my heart pounding in my chest as I fought to break free, but he held me in place with an iron grip.
And then, in a move that caught me off guard, Alexander's lips crashed down on mine in a bruising kiss that left me breathless. For a moment, all rational thought fled as I was consumed by the heat of his touch, the intensity of his gaze. I should have pushed him away, but for an instant, I wanted to continue.
Yeah, I was crazy.
But as quickly as it began, the kiss ended, leaving me reeling and gasping for air. I stared up at him, my mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions, as he regarded me with a smug smirk. The bastard knew what he was igniting inside of me. He knew it, and he loved to see how torn I was because of my feelings.
"You're mine, Emily," he whispered, his voice sending shivers down my spine. "And there's nothing you can do to change that." He said next to my ear, making me feel hot inside.
With those words echoing in my ears, I knew that my life would never be the same again. Caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a man who held all the cards, I could only hope that I had the strength to survive. There was only one thing I could do…
“I can still kill myself, that way you would never have me.” His eyes changed at that moment, they became harsher, crueler, but before Alexander could answer, the door burst open, and a wave of chaos erupted into the room, shattering the tense silence like glass.
A group of armed men stormed into the room, their faces masked and their weapons drawn as they surrounded us, their presence was a clear reminder of what I had gotten myself into.
I was in deep trouble.
