11. She chose a no one

ZARA’S POV :-

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Luca. I ruined your life. I dragged you into my f*cked up life and now look what you ended up into.” I put my forehead on the bars and he caressed my hair gently, wiping my tears off first.

“Hey! This is probably the end for me. But it doesn’t have to be your end too. I won’t let you end up suffering alone again. Leave with Owen. He will give you a new life. You can take everything I have after I die. Just don’t blame yourself for the choice I made. You had nothing to do with it.

And will you do one last favour to me? Can I see your smile one last time? I really missed it in these six years. Please..” With a burning pain in my heart, I let out a fake smile.

“You look so pretty when you smile. Now go. Go and live your life. Don’t worry about me and be happy. Go..” Even I couldn’t stand there after that and had to get away from him to breathe again.

“It’s over now. There’s nothing you can do to save him.” Standing beside Owen, I was taking deep breaths to hold onto my tears.

“Why does this happen to me? Why every time I try to hold someone to love and cherish, they always leave me alone? First my parents, then Caleb, then my uncle and aunt, and now Luca. I lost all of them just like that...”

“Sometimes the goddess chooses some people to end up alone for their entire life. I’m one of them. Luca was too. And maybe she has written the same fate for you as well. Maybe that’s why we’re suffering the loss of one of us today. We should leave now. Let’s go home.” Owen put his hand on my shoulder as a sympathy before walking towards his car.

“No. I’m not leaving the hope yet. I can’t let him get hanged for me. You can go ahead. I’ll see what I can do one last time.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. I will do everything possible to save him. I have to.”

“Okay, then. Call me if you need my help with anything.”

I sent Owen back with another plan in my head. If I am the reason for Luca’s death, I must be the reason for his survival. I will do anything I have to, to save his life. Anything...

DIEGO’S POV :-

“Sir. Your nephew was attacked last night after you left. A random wolf attacked him and tried to kill him when he went for a run.”

“What? Someone attacked Caleb?”

I was in my office, focused on my work when Seth came to me and gave me that shocking news. Even though we had a death fight last night over a girl who doesn’t appreciate someone’s help, Caleb is my family and I should worry about his safety.

“Did they find the guy who did it? Is Caleb okay?”

“Yes. They managed to find that Alpha and he’s now in the privet royal prison.”

“Royal prison? That means he’s going to be hanged in about a week. He deserves it to even think about hurting a royal. But have you got any information on who this guy is and why he attacked Caleb all of a sudden? There must be a solid reason to do such a dare.”

“He’s not speaking a word to anyone no matter how much they torture him. It looks like he has a grudge against Caleb and knew exactly what he was doing and what its result could be.”

“Interesting. Find out who he is. I need every detail about why this stranger made Caleb his biggest enemy.”

It took Seth a day to find out everything about the guy who attacked Caleb. And when he finally told me the entire story, I was speechless.

“Sir. The one who attacked your nephew is Lucas Crater, the illegitimate son of Wesley Draycot, the CEO of Vexes Supernova.”

“What? He is the son of Draycot? The business tycoon of Bleson, Draycot? Why would the son of the business king would need to harm Caleb? How did they even know each other?” I was shocked to hear who this stranger actually was.

“This is where it gets interesting. Miss Zara and Mr Lucas used to be next-door neighbours. They were very close to each other until six years ago when he had to move to Bleson to meet his father. After finding out that Mr. Lucas was only a result of Mr. Draycot’s one-night stand, he blamed his father for their condition and the death of his mother. Breaking all contact with his father, Mr. Lucas tried to stand up on his feet and started a company named NimbleX Org. with his friend. They are currently in the city to make a deal with one of our company partners and found Miss, Zara.”

“So, it’s Zara behind this attack? I can’t believe she would go this far..”

“She can. After the engagement broke, her family threw her out on the streets. So, she’s now living in Mr. Luca’s apartment a few miles distance from her house. Maybe she was too angry at him for everything and took a wrong decision. Or maybe it’s Mr. Lucas’s own idea. I’m not so sure of it.”

Hearing that Zara went to live with her old boyfriend, my blood started to boil for some reason. I offered her everything she needed, but she chose to be with a no one. What a shame...

On the fourth day after the big event, Seth came to me and gave me another shocking news.

“Sir. Ella called. Miss Zara wants to meet you. She’s at your villa right now. What should I say?”

A huge smirk came into my lips realizing that she finally came to my feet again. I know exactly why she wants to see me.

“Tell her that I am in a meeting and I’ll be late to go home. Make her wait.” Seth did as I said and now it’s time to have some fun.

I know Zara came to beg me to save her boyfriend’s life now that the day of his death is coming near. She’ll be willing to do anything for it and I will make her do everything as a p*****t for hurting me and going against her words. But first I need a written contract to bind her with me forever.

I usually go back home by evening. But today, I went to a bar to spend a little time and enjoy myself while she waited for me back at my place. The more she waits, the more desperate she will be to see me. I want to see how far she can go for this boy.

I drank and enjoyed the company of some pretty ladies until it was almost midnight. I usually don’t take any escorts home, but today I went out of my comfort zone and picked up a pretty one just to show her that I can get any girl I like, at any time.

I don’t like the girls who get too handy with me. And unfortunately, the one I choose is one of that kind. Throughout the whole ride, she kept trying to take my shirt off or touch my crouch. Keeping her away was a task in itself. For once, I even thought about throwing her out of the car, but then I calmed myself thinking about the reward I would get after it.

Finally, we reached the villa and wrapping my arm around the waist of that escort, I entered the house as if I just returned from a very fun night. And as I expected, Zara was still waiting for me in the living room.

“Diego. I was waiting for you the whole day. Can we talk for a minute?” She ran near me with her wish like I was her only savior.

“OH! It’s you again. What are you doing here? Anyway. I’m kind of busy right now, as you can see. So, maybe come another time. Let’s go, baby.” Waving her off, I started taking that girl upstairs.

“Diego. Please. I need to talk to you right now. It’s really important.”

“Nothing is more important than some good time. So, leave.. I don’t have time for you.” Burying my face in that wh*res neck, I kept climbing towards my room.

“Please... I promise I will make it up to you. Just listen to me once. I beg you.” A huge grin came into my face hearing that she would make it up to me. I want to see how exactly she makes it up.

“You will make it up to me? For real?” She nodded yes.

“Okay then. Baby. You need to go. I’ll find you some other time. Bye.” I instantly let go of that wh*re and was glad to be able to get rid of her.

“I’m not leaving. I came here to have a good time. How can I let go of such an opportunity to be with a handsome hunk like you” I rolled my eyes to understand what she wanted. Pulling out a bundle of cash from my pocket, I handed it to her.

“Take it and leave.” She took it from my hand and tucked it into her top before rubbing her bre*sts on me.

“I’m here for both of it. Come on. I won’t mind if the other girl wants to join too. It will be fun.” Now this girl is irritating me.

I was about to scare her away but before I could, Zara took the honour.

“F*ck. Didn’t you hear what he said? He wants you to leave. You got your money, now go away.”

I was stunned when Zara came to us, grabbed the wrist of that escort and threw her out of the house, closing the door on her face. She was huffing in anger like a tigress. I was so amused to see such a brave side of this little one that I forgot everything else for a minute.

“Now if you’re free, would you listen to me once? Please..”

“Fine. Come up in my room.”

I went to my room and started undressing. She followed me right after but was hesitant to come all the way inside the room.

“Don’t be shy. Come in. You’re going to see this room a lot after tonight..” I murmured the last line sarcastically.

“What? What did you say?”

Taking off my shirt and tie, and unbuttoning my shirt only halfway through, I sat down leaning on the bed.

“Nothing. So? What do you want to say?”

“I’m here to ask for your help. Again. My friend is in trouble. He.. He was charged for attacking Caleb and they threw him in the king’s privet prison. I think you already know what I am talking about and why I’m here. So.. Please. Help me one last time to save his life. I will do anything you say in return. I promise.” Her eyes glistened with honesty. But those same eyes deceived me once before.

“First of all, your ‘friend’ tried to kill my nephew. So there’s no way I will save that bastard. And second. Why should I trust you ‘again’, after what you did the last time? You broke the deal, you hurt me physically, you ran away from me. Then how can I believe you now?”

“First of all, my ‘friend’ didn’t try to kill your nephew. Caleb was the one who attacked first. He hunted me down and tried to kill me. My friend was only protecting me from him. He lied to everyone and framed Luca so that the king would forget his crimes and only worry about his safety. It was all his plan of distraction..” That explains a lot...

“And second. It’s your fault that I got into this mess..”
