Aahana walked out of the shop, she was hundred gold coins richer. She stopped, seeing her brother standing in front of her with a grave expression. He was looking down at his shoes. She frowned, looking at him. He should have been in school.
“Why are you here?”; Aahana asked.
Aarav looked up; he gestured her to get inside the carriage. She did not argue, and did as he said. Sitting down, the carriage moved.
“We are going to palace.”; Aarav informed her.
“Why?”; Aahana asked. Aarav sighed before telling everything to her.
“How is Michael?”; Aahana asked.
“Don’t know, Archduchess has been called to the palace.”; Aarav said.
Aahana nodded. They have to go to the palace to keep the facade of being a family. She knows she does not care about people, but the news that Archduke and his sons might die does not really affect her. She does not feel any kind of sympathy for them, which is disturbing. They helped her and her brother yet; she does not care if they die.
Aahana looked at the sky from the window. She frowned when she saw a figure on a roof hiding behind the chimney. Is someone follow their carriage?
“Seems like someone is following our carriage.”; Aahana whispered. Aarav looked at her with raised eyebrows in question; he looked out of the window but saw no one. The carriage passed the house and she could not see anymore if the person was following her or not.
“Does not matter, it is not like anyone can do anything to us right now.”; Aarav said, making Aahana nod.
……………………………………….
Eleanor looked at Michael, who was bandaged up. Her pain knew now bounds; she regrets the time she ignored her sons and husband because of her pain. She should have cherished the people she has.
“My baby.”; Eleanor cried. Her pain was being released as her tears. Michael had told everything to the King and his mother. King has agreed to send reinforcement. He wants to go there with the army but he could not. He did not realise that he had broken his leg while fighting and it is because of the adrenaline that he could go on.
“I am fine, mother.”; He answered, but I don’t know about the father and brother, was left unsaid. He wants to go to the ground, but he knows he will be just a burden to his family. Not knowing what was in hold of the future, he stayed mum.
Eleanor and Michael looked at the door when a knock was heard.
“Come in”; Eleanor commanded softly. Her voice was a horse from crying. Michael looked as Aahana and Aarav entered inside the room.
Aahana looked at Michael, who was covered in bandages while his leg was fractured. His once healthy complexion was now pale enough that a child would see him as a ghost of a low-budget movie. The room was magnificent, but the atmosphere made the beauty of the room diminish. She looked at Eleanor, whose eyes were puffed up.
She noticed how Eleanor’s hand that held Michael’s arm was trembling. Aahana understood how afraid Archduchess was right now. Aahana understood what Eleanor was feeling right now. She would cease to live if anything happened to her brother. They are not blood related but they love each other more than that.
“What is the condition of the battlefield?”; Aarav asked, breaking Aahana’s train of thought. He made his way to the chair and sat down beside Michael. Michael looked at Aahana, who stood away from the bed. He could read from her expression that his injuries did not matter to her.
Michael could see how she cared about his mother more, because her eyes would be stuck in his mother’s hand. He does not know whether to laugh or cry. She really does not care if he dies. He deserves this. If he was not an i***t in his previous life, things would have been different.
“Not good, there are millions of orcs and handful of us were left before father commanded me to come here and inform the royalty.”; Michael said. Eleanor sobbed hearing that her husband and eldest son are most likely fighting to live.
“What is your condition?”; Aarav asked again.
“Mother gave me her potion. I will be fine in a week; but by then”; Michael cut off his sentence. Will they survive, was left out of the sentence.
“We will help”; Aarav said. Aahana frowned and looked at Aarav. Why the hell are they going to help them? She knows she sounds selfish, but it is their problem. We would not be here in this world if it was not for their goddess. Her guts twisted in disgust when she thought about helping them. Why? Why does she feel so repelled by Archduke and his sons when they have been nothing, just kind to her and her brother?
“Won’t we?”; Aarav asked as he looked back at Aahana. She came back from her thought and nodded in agreement. She does not want to save them.
“NO!!”
“NO!!”
Two simultaneous No’s were heard. They both looked at the mother and son. Michael was about to get up from the bed when he heard Aarav’s proposal. Eleanor was standing up in shock. Aahana said nothing as she folded her hands and waited for the drama to unleash.
“Why? Don’t you worry about your father and eldest brother.”; Aarav asked.
Who knows? Maybe he wants them to die so that he can take the dukedom.
Aahana suddenly stood straight. She shook her head clear. Where did she get that thought from? She does not know why does she hates them. But what baffles her is that she was smirking, thinking about such a twisted thing. Sure, she has killed people, but she did it to protect her country. She is by no chance an evil being who loves to see people die.
I am soft-hearted girl. Aahana thought. She was worried about herself. She has been having dark thoughts about them.
“Why?”; Aarav asked in question.
“You know nothing about orcs. There are really powerful and can rip you apart in a single strike.”; Michael reasoned. Aarav chuckled at him.
“Don’t worry, we will be fine and come out alive with your father and brother.”; Aarav said. Michael and Eleanor looked at each other with a determined look to stop them from going to the battlefield.
