Chapter 27

Serenity’s POV             It was late and I could not help but think what Alexander was up to. I missed him. We have had our differences, but I could not deny that Alexander was trying to change. Every time I would even get near him my body would ignite with a blazing intensity that was hard to ignore. But it was more than just physical attraction that I hard toward him. My feelings have begun to develop for him, which was confusing the hell out of me. At first, there was nothing I felt more toward him than hatred and disgust. The way he used me was downright despicable. The more time that I spent alone with him, those feelings started to subside. It was pure s****l at first, my body reminded me of that anytime I was near him. When I saw him at the hospital and the way he cared for me after, made me believe there was hope for him after all. That is when I knew that my feelings were stronger than I led on. Now I could see him as the man I wanted to be with. Sure, we still had obstacles to overcome, challenges to face but what couple did not. He made the woman in me feel alive. He brought me so many emotions that I never knew I had and sometimes he was frustrating as hell but that only developed my feelings for him more. There was nowhere I would rather be than with him but unfortunately, I was not.             I was still stuck in this small ass hotel room. Liam had taken off a few hours ago and left me here alone. Not that I minded being alone. It just gave my mind more reasons to think of Alexander. Right now, I needed to focus on a way to get back to him or to a least reach out to him. The problem is that I did not even know his phone number. I never thought I needed to since I was going to be with him pretty much all the time. But then it hit me. Damn I felt so stupid. He was a lawyer and a good one at that so he must be listed in the phone book. Since Liam was gone, now would be the perfect time to sneak out to the hotel office. So, I slipped on my shoes, opened the door, and made my way to the office. Once I stepped inside the smell almost knocked me to my knees. You would think after being left in a cell for so long that I could handle any disgusting smell thrown at me, but this smell was too overpowering. It smelt like wet dog and dirty laundry. Yuck. I pushed back the feeling to vomit right here on the floor and made my way over to the tiny counter placed directly in front of the entrance door. I rung the bell that was placed on the counter and an older gentleman stepped out from a room behind the counter.             “Yes, can I help you Ms.?” He looked straight at me while pulling on the front of his pants. Gross.             “Yes sir, I was wondering if you maybe had a phone book and a phone I could use.” Please say you do!             “Yeah, sure.” He walks back behind the door and a moment later returns, slapping a heavy yellow book down on the counter. “The phone is right over there.” He pointed the little black phone hanging beside a painting on the wall.             “Thank you, I’ll be just a moment.” And he made his way back through the door he walked out of just a moment ago. I quickly opened the thick yellow book unsure of how to really read it. It took me a few moments to figure it out and once I did, I went in search of the lawyer section. After flipping through numerous pages, I found his name at the top of the page that read: Alexander Woods. Woods & Woods law firm. Easy enough. I ran over to the phone dialing the number I found on the page.             “Hello.” Hearing his voice immediately put me at ease. I would never understand by just hearing his voice the pleasure that consumed my body.             “Alexander, its Serenity. I don’t have long before Liam returns…”             “Serenity? Baby, where are you? Tell me where you are, and I’ll come get you right now.”             “I don’t know where I am exactly. We are at a hotel that is located just outside of a small town. I could not make out the name of the town based off the old wood sign it was hanging from. I do know that the room we have is located right across from a bar named Willie’s Bar and Grill. Tell me you know where that is.”             “No, I don’t but I will GPS it. I am getting in my car now. Are you okay? Has he hurt you?”             “Its hard to say that I am not okay even though I am perfectly fine, but I don’t feel okay. I miss you and I need to see you. Of course, he has not hurt me. Your brother is acting like a total maniac taking me against my will, but he wouldn’t ever physically hurt me Alexander.”             “Baby, I was so worried. You have no idea; I’ve been out of my mind...”             “Hello? Alexander?” The phone disconnected and I understood why when I saw Liam coming up from beside me. He did not even speak. He had ripped the cord from the wall. When his eyes found mine, they were full of straight anger. In the time that I have known Liam, this way by far the angriest I have seen him. He snaked his hand around my wrist, dragging me out of the office and back toward our room. He pushed me inside harshly, making me trip over myself and fall to the ground.             “What the hell where you thinking calling him? Huh? Your going to ruin everything you b***h!” His heavy footsteps started making their way toward me. His hand grasped my hair in a ball, pulling on it tightly. With all his strength he pulled me from my hair to my feet, launching toward me, roughly slamming me to the wall.             There were no words. I could not believe the rage radiating off him right now. This was not the Liam that I knew. The person standing in front me of now wore the face of him but was someone else entirely. With his other hand free, he placed it on my chin, pulling himself closer to me. I pushed, kicked, screamed, squirmed but nothing was working. In this moment I was completely overtaken by fear. To see this man that I thought I somewhat knew, looking like a complete stranger, terrified me. I had no way of knowing what he might say or do to me so I tried to wiggle free in any way that I could. Nothing seemed to work. It only made him more agitated with each attempt to free myself from his grasp. How did I always end up in these situations? It was like my gift was pissing men off. Once he was within only breathing distance of my mouth, I smelled the alcohol pouring from his lips. He was drunk. Surprise, surprise. The only thing he ever seemed to do with his time was to leave me alone long enough to go to the bar across the road and get drunk. The funny thing was that before now, I never even saw him drink once sip of alcohol.             “You think you’re so smart calling my brother. If you think that would stop me, your wrong. My brother is going to know what it feels like to lose the woman he loves. I will make damn sure that he never lays his eyes on you ever again.”             The words I wanted to say would not come from my lips. The chance of making him angrier were at high levels right now and that is the last thing I wanted to do. My silence also was making him angry though. I was in a tough position. Was I to speak to him, taking the chance of whatever wraith he decided to punish me with or was I to stay silent and possibly take a chance of a worse side of him? Sobs started to escape from me without the ability to control them.             “This little water-work display isn’t going to help you at all. Suck it up. Poor pitiful Serenity. I will not allow myself to feel sorry for you anymore. You do not know a damn thing about the real me but your about to find out.” His body started pushing into me, making it almost impossible to breath between the weight of him and the disgusting smell of the liquor on his breath. His lips started etching closer and closer toward mine. I tired to move my head from side to side to keep him from entering my mouth. Then he clutched my throat, steadying my head in one place which was looking straight at him. “If I want you Serenity, I will have you.”             There was only one thing I could do to get out of this situation. So, with my legs free I kicked in an upward motion as hard as I could, connecting in between his legs. Liam immediately dropped to the floor, clutching himself and letting out small grunts. Wow. That felt good. I ran toward the door, grabbing the keys to his car and slammed the door behind me. As fast as I could, I hopped in his silver Audi, putting the keys in the ignition. The car roared to life, I put it in reverse and hit the gas. Liam ran from the room, desperately trying to stop me. I ignored him completely, placing the car in drive and sped off as fast I could.
