Chapter 20: Vicious SlanderAfter a few steps into the community, Rebecca Bell heard the sound of a car behind her. She looked back and saw that the black Jaguar had already been away. There were only two dimly lit car lights, dying down as they went further and further away until they finally disappeared into the night. Thinking of Luis Johnson's words, at last, she touched her forehead to see if she got a fever. To find herself a new job, she planned to look through the Internet to hand over her CV when she got home. After all, tomorrow, she would lose her job. ... The next day, Rebecca Bell still went to work on time. Before she received the cancellation letter, she still needed to work. However, once she stepped into the office, she heard Martina King's angry questioning, "The one who did it knew everything. Don't force me to call the security guards. If they find out, they will call the police." "Martina, it might have dropped somewhere not stolen." Another secretary of the General Staff, Angela Lewis, said promptly. Martina King snorted and said, "So no one admitted it? Well, let's call the security guards. If the finds out from the surveillance videos, don't blame me for not giving face to you!" Rebecca Bell walked in unaware. When Martina King saw her, Martina King's eyes widened with fierceness,"Rebecca Bell, you were the last one to leave last night, weren't you?" Rebecca Bell blinked without knowing what was going on, but she still nodded. "Well, what's wrong?" Last night, to wait for Luis Johnson to get off work, she was indeed the last to leave. Martina King sneered and said, "Then I won't beat around the bush. Take it out." "What is it?" Rebecca Bell was confused. "The secretary's crystal watch is gone. She suspected that someone in the office took it," Bess Carter said in a satire tone. Martina King glared at Bess Carter and then looked at Rebecca Bell. "Last night, when I washed my cup before I left, I put the watch in the tea room. I didn't remember it until I had gone halfway back home. When I came back to pick it up, there was nothing in the tea room. I looked around and searched the whole office, but I couldn't find it. I got off work at six o'clock last night. I didn't wash my cup until five o'clock. I was the last one to wash my cup. Before I left, no one entered the tea room. Later, it was a few minutes past six. I got off work with my colleagues. When I came back, it was half past six. In just half an hour, my watch disappeared? During that time, you were the only one in the office!" Rebecca Bell frowned."She'd better say I was the thief directly."She thought. "Martina, I didn't take it." "You don't admit it?" Martina King walked over in her high heels with a gloomy look. "I shouldn't have doubted you. You got close to Mr. Johnson, you will get whatever you want. But you were the last to leave last night. Accordingly, do you think you are the first one to be suspected?" Rebecca Bell pursed her lips. She knew that Martina King was trying to use this as an excuse to trick her. She glanced at the General Manager's office. She was uncertain about whose idea it was. Was this Martina King's idea or was it Luis Johnson who asked her to do it? Did he mean this when last night he said she would regret it? "Then let's call the security guards." No matter who it was, Rebecca Bell did not intend to suffer losses. Now that she said she did not steal things and she would not be afraid of being investigated. Martina King squinted at her for a while and smiled, "Okay, let's call the security guards." Such a thing in the early morning made everyone down in the office. After a while, a security guard came and knew about the situation. He contacted the monitoring room through the intercom. After several minutes' communication, he turned off the intercom and said, "There has never been any camera in the tea room, but the videos on the camera outside in the office can be transferred to you. You can also vaguely see something through the door of the tea room. Please try and see if it is helpful." Martina King nodded and asked for the surveillance footage. Soon, someone brought over the videotape. They put the tape into the machine. After a while, the screen lit up. It was five fifty-five. In the video, wearing something on her wrist, Martina King entered the tea room. At five fifty-seven, she came out with empty wrists. In the later part of the video, no one entered the tea room again after Martina King until six eleven, Rebecca Bell entered the tea room to wash her cup. She came out in only one minute. Then she returned to the office and stayed there until six seventeen. She didn't leave until the door of the general manager's office opened, she left with Mr. Johnson.
