CHAPTER 4 - STRANGE CONNECTION - ETAMINA'S POV

1646 Words
A huge archway over the gates was inscribed with the school’s name, ''Selene'' along with words of welcome and my family’s crest. I rolled my eyes and read the inscription. ''Don't chase your dreams. Walk beside them with Selene and create your dreams as you go.'' What a joke, I thought savagely as I proceeded down the driveway. As I passed the parking lot I noticed the pink convertible again, the two twin blonde girls were leaning against the side of it. One was chatting with a tall boy. They were holding hands and laughing, making me feel sick. Without my permission, memories of myself and Saun laughing and touching rushed into my mind. FLASH BACK ''Mina,'' Saun called out to me from my bed. ''Mina!'' I rolled my eyes and came out of the bathroom still brushing my teeth and wrapped in a towel. ''What?'' He was so f*cking hot, I smiled despite being annoyed, he was sitting on my bed in ripped jeans and a loose T-shirt, playing his guitar I’d given him for his birthday last year, after his d*ck of a father had broken his in one of his drunken outbursts. ''Hurry up.'' He complained, making me roll my eyes. ''I’d have been done by now if you hadn’t called me you jerk.''I said with no real malice before heading back to the bathroom. Once I finished my teeth and got dressed, I headed back to my bedroom and grabbed my jacket. ''Ready.'' ''Finally.'' He smiled, and I rolled my eyes again. ''Shut up.'' I said as I walked past him, but he suddenly grabbed me around the waist, pulling me back into his chest and planting his face in my loose hair. ''Mmmm,'' He moaned into my hair, ''You smell good, baby.'' I instantly felt heat rush from my stomach to between my legs. ''Stop it, we have to go, everyone’s waiting.'' Although I made no effort to move out of his arms. ''Maybe we should ditch and stay here instead.'' He commented as he moved my hair and started kissing my neck. ''What?'' I complained and turned in his arms. ''You’re the one who’s been rushing me for the past hour to hurry up and get ready, and now you want to stay.'' ''Well, I didn’t realize how hot you were going to look.'' He smiled, his eyes roamed down my body before he returned to kissing my neck. I was wearing a tight v-neck shirt and a long skirt that fell to my ankles, I frowned, I didn’t think I was wearing anything too provocative, and yet I could feel his hard on as he pressed against me. ''Stop it and let's go.'' I rolled my eyes, but before I knew it, Saun had picked me up and thrown me onto my bed. I squealed in surprise and excitement as he quickly climbed over me, placing his hands on either side of my head. ''SShh,'' He said and looked to the door. ''Do you want your dad to hear?'' I blushed and looked over to make sure the door was locked. It was. ''Hear what?'' I asked, ''We have a party to go to remember?'' ''So we’ll be a few hours late.'' He smiled as he reached down and started to unzip his pants. ''Hours?'' I asked, my voice thick with lust as I watched his hands now undoing his belt. Saun looked me in the eyes and smiled, ''Hours.'' He smiled before his lips came crashing down on mine. END OF FLASHBACK My heart seized in my chest and I paused to take a breath. I quickly looked at the other girl to take my mind off of Saun. She was reading a heavy book with the utmost curiosity, but then someone else caught her eye. ''Dom!'' A handsome boy called out and joined them. He was wearing dark jeans and a loose blue shirt and a black jacket that still showed his muscular body. He had short dark hair that fell to his ears whilst the sides of his head had been shaved short, but he was covering it with a gray beany, his face was very handsome and welcoming, and his dark green eyes drew me in instantly as he turned and looked at me and smiled. I caught his scent on the wind, it was the best thing I’d ever smelt in my life, a combination of the woods, rain and honeysuckle. He smelt like the wild, I couldn’t even describe it properly to myself. For a moment, I lost my breath again, but not from pain this time. I knew him, but how? His face was something from a dream I'd had a long time ago, and he looked back at me as though he was thinking the same thing. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I saw a vision of myself kissing him in a beautiful garden, his arms wound strongly around my body and pulled me closer, he whispered something in another language and said my name before he's lips found mine again. I shook my head as pain seared my skull and the image vanished. I took a few deep breaths, his scent going into my lungs and somehow calming me, I felt my wolf shrink further into my mind in fear. ''What the hell was that?'' I wondered, my hands were shaking, and I had to force myself to pass the boy without talking to him, even though every inch of me wanted to go to him, I wanted to wrap my arms around him, kiss him, I wanted…. I quickly stopped my train of thoughts. I headed up the stone steps towards the front doors. ''What's happening?'' I could not stop myself from looking back at the boy to find him still staring at me with some strange look on his face but I quickly looked away again. ''Does he think we've met to?'' I wondered, ''Why is he still watching me?'' Was he a witch, was he doing something to me? My mother had warned me that there were witches who would do anything to get my power. They could have it, I didn’t want it. To distract myself, I looked up at the entrance of the college. The college name was proudly displayed over the oak doorway just like the gates. ''Selene University'' I read and rolled my eyes. It was named after our Goddess, who, up until my 18th birthday, I thought was a myth. I took a deep breath, every person in my mother’s family had attended this college, it caused quite a scandal when mom had eloped with my father without completing her education. Our family still funded the college, and my great Aunt was on the admission’s board. She had no doubt used her substantial pull to get me into the college after I'd missed the admissions due date. I had always been top in all of my classes. My best class was science, but I preferred to spend most of my time outside. I loved PE and was the best runner on my track team. No one had ever come close to beating me, it was a point of pride with me but now that I knew what I was, it explained my speed. I sighed, I hated thinking about my past. ''Are you alright?'' Came a boy's amused voice, breaking my train of thought. I turned around to see the tanned boy from before. His eyes looked amused as he smiled at me. ''I’m fine.'' I said a little more forcefully then I’d intended, his voice had shocked me, it was even more appealing close up. In fact, it was the most appealing sound I'd ever heard. He had to be a witch. There was no other explanation, I’d have to tell Aaron. The boy’s smirk turned into a large smile and my heart raced long. ''You were shaking your head.'' He said, unfazed by my tone. ''I thought you might be lost.'' ''Well, I’m not.'' I said abruptly. I was getting annoyed at his grinning face. I couldn’t look away from his mouth, his lips looked so soft and welcoming. Was I attracted to this stranger? I never had such an instant attraction to someone. It unnerved me, no, it must be a spell. ''You're Australian?'' The boy commented. ''Last I checked,'' I said childishly, ''Excuse me-'' I tried to step around him, but he reached out his hand quickly in a gesture of welcome. ''My name's Noah.'' He told me, while I slowly shook, his hand. ''Noah Lincon Cooper.'' I instantly felt sparks rush up my arms from where he held my hand. witch, definitely, a witch. What do I do? Should I confront him? What if he's human? ''Mina.'' I told him and held my breath, damn he smelt good. Noah had moved closer while our hands shook and his cologne and natural scent swam around me in the air. It was nice, but I released his hand quickly and took a step away from him. The second our contact stopped, the buzzing from his touch vanished, and I instantly wanted it back. What the f*ck is wrong with me? Who the hell was this guy? I must get away from him, I was feeling completely unsettled, my body was longing for his touch. ''Mina,'' He repeated with interest. ''Interesting name. Is it short for something?'' ''Etamina.'' I answered. ''Like the wolf.'' He said, smiling again. ''Excuse me?'' I snapped. What the hell did he know about my family? Definitely a witch. ''The wolf,'' Noah repeated, ''Like in the legend.'' ''I don’t know what you’re talking about.'' I lied. My heart was racing again, this time in panic. ''Excuse me.'' I turned and marched through the doors, leaving Noah looking confused. He must think I am the rudest person ever.
