CHAPTER 3 - NOAH'S MORNING - NOAH'S POV

2460 Words
Beep beep beep beep The sound of my alarm drifted into my s*x dream about Sasha Rose, a very experimental red head I'd met last weekend before summer break was over. I'd spent a very tiring and satisfying weekend with her and her twin sister. I yawned and stretched before throwing my sheets back to find a sticky mess waiting for me from my wet dream. I rolled my eyes in frustration, I hated doing the laundry, but I quickly bundled up my sheets and threw them into the hamper outside my bathroom door. I'd do the laundry after college today. College, I thought as I pulled off my boxes and hopped into the shower, I wondered what it'll be like, the classes would be fine, and I'll be one step closer to being an archaeologist. Mom would be happy for me. A familiar ache filled my gut as I thought of my mom, so I pushed her memory down like I always did when she came to mind. After I was washed and dressed, I headed down for breakfast, but I was beginning to feel a little restless this morning. Maybe I was nervous about college. Maybe it was because I couldn’t go for my morning swim because Josh hadn't bothered to clean it after the storm yesterday, and it was filled with dead leaves from the garden, or maybe it was something else. I had this feeling like something was coming, something big, something I felt like I’d been waiting for, how strange. ''About time, Noah.'' My brother Josh complained as I wandered into the kitchen and dumped my backpack and jacket onto the ground. ''I'm starving, but dad said we had to wait for you.'' ''You’re not starving.'' Chloe snapped as she placed a glass of juice down on the kitchen table. We only ever used this table in the morning because dad likes the way the light comes in. He's a morning person just like me, but I still prefer the kitchen table and the kitchen, for that matter, from our old house, it was bigger, and it had a more homely feel to it. But that was because of mom, dad's great, the best man I'd ever met, in fact, but he was never a homemaker. ''Shut up, Chloe.'' Josh grumbled, bringing my mind back to the present. ''You shut up.'' I said and hit him in the back of the head as I walked past him on the way to my chair. ''P*ss off Noah.'' Josh yelled at me as I sat down. ''Josh!'' Dad yelled at him. I smiled and took a sip of juice. ''Here we go.'' Charlotte announced as she placed the last of the food on the table. Charlotte had really out done herself this morning. Pancakes, toast, fruit salad, bacon, fried mushrooms, tomatoes and fried and scrambled eggs. ''Everything looks great honey.'' Dad smiled as he started filling his plate with scrambled eggs. ''Are you all ready for your first day?'' ''Yeah,'' Chloe said happily, ''I can't wait. It took me two hours to decide what to wear.'' She was wearing a pale blue wool dress with 3/4 sleeves, a slit up the leg, and large pale blue button closing both sides of the outfit, and a white belt around her waist. A white woolen jacket sat on her chair next to her purse, that she really didn't need to take to college, and white slip on shoes. Dad rolled his eyes. ''College isn't about looking good Chloe, it's about studying.'' ''Yeah, I'm sure you did, a lot of studying, dad.'' Charlotte teased our twin sister. She was dressed more practically, tight fitted gray pin striped pants, and a white fitted jacket over what ever shirt she had on. ''Excuse me, but I'll have you know I was very studious at college.'' Dad joked as he lifted his coffee. ''It was your mother that was the partier.'' Everyone but me laughed at the absurdity of mom being a party animal, she was always so proper, right up until the day she... I couldn't finish the thought. ''I can’t wait to join some of the clubs, I got flyers for yesterday, on the open day.'' Charlotte commented as we ate. Even though we were not moving into the onsite dorms, we joined a group of our friends to wander the grounds yesterday and help them move in. There were stalls everywhere representing this group and that. Charlotte had made us stop at everyone to hear what they were about, and I could tell that my twin wanted to join every single group, though in the end she just decided on a few language classes, despite the fact that we were all fluent in French, Mandorine and Japanese, and in Charlotte's case, Arabic too. She also wanted to join a few more athletic groups, but I shut that down. Neither of my twin sisters were very physical, and I knew they'd hate joining those groups. After eating too much at breakfast, I wandered out to feed the dogs before heading off, but when I came back in, everyone else was gone except for dad, who was talking to our housekeeper, Katherine, about plans for dinner. ''Did you get the truck detailed'' He asked as we headed towards the front door. He'd been nagging at me all summer to get it done, but I kept putting it off. ''Yeah, yesterday.'' I told him, though I left out the part that I only did it because my best friend Domonic reminded me at the last minute. ''Good,'' He nodded as he pulled on his jacket, ''Have a good first day son, enjoy it.'' ''Will do.'' I said and left the house. I hopped in my truck. Dad was too sentimental, enjoy what exactly, books and people, nothing new, what could possibly happen today that I'd enjoy, even as I thought it, I still had that nagging feeling like something was going to happen today. I turned up my music and drove into the campus. A massive old building that both my parents went to. I could have gone to any college, but I chose to stay close to home, and I was always intrigued by Selene University. My parents used to tell me stories about this place, stories about werewolves and witches secretly being on campus. But I was used to this kind of talk. There were folk laws about my hometown, all about werewolves living in our town. I parked next to Dominic's car and got out, and looked at the baby booster seat in the back seat always made me smile, even after 2 years it was hard to wrap my head around the fact that Domonic was a dad, raising his brother after he'd lost he's parents wasn't easy, but he never complained, even after all the court hearings he had to go through in order to be able to keep Colt, he was still the same Dom as he'd always been, only now he had play dates and sippy cups. ''Dom.'' I called out, but as I wandered over to him, I notice a girl out the corner of my eye. She was dressed in black shorts, stockings with a tight purple shirt, she had a nice body, really nice, big t**s, tight waste, nice arse, exactly my type. I looked over at her just as she turned away, turn around again, I pleaded silently, I wanted to see if the face suits the body. I watched her for a little while, the way she held herself confused me, she seemed upset. I couldn't figure it out, but her being upset made me upset, WTF? ''Hey,'' Dom said from next to Chloe and Charlotte, distracting me from the girl. Charlotte had her head in her new law book, she'd nearly finished it, it must be a real page turner, I mussed and then there was was Dom and Chloe. They were leaning next to Chloe's pink convertible talking and holding hands. I frowned, they knew college was off limits for them touching, while I was around. They'd been together for a few years now, but it still made my stomach churn thinking of my best mate and twin sister hooking up. ''Hey,'' I said back once I joined them. ''You ready for this?'' Dom asked as he slapped me on the back. ''As I'll ever be.'' I shrugged. ''Alex was just telling me about a party this Friday night to celebrate our first week.'' Dom told me. ''Should be good.'' ''Yeah,'' I agreed. I looked around hoping to see the girl again only to find her staring at me. I smiled at her as I took in her face. She was stunning, creamy white skin with a slight tan, full lips, thick eyelashes that fell neatly over the most gorgeous blue eyes I'd ever seen in my life. I couldn't look away, and I was right, she did look upset. I wondered what someone so beautiful had to be upset about. I'd seen her before, I knew I had, but then that was a face I wouldn't have forgotten and yet. ''So Alex thinks his party will rival your birthday party.'' I heard Dom say, but I still couldn't look away from the girl. I had to get her number. My heart was racing, sh*t, no girl has ever had that effect on me. Sure, I'd seen a few hot girls in my time, but this one, she was mesmerizing, even looking as sad and lost as she did. ''Noah?'' Dom said loudly, ''Are you listening to me or are you too busy perving?'' Suddenly, the girl blushed a deep red shade as if she'd heard Dom's comment and quickly walked off. I didn't like her walking away. ''Noah!'' Dom said again and this time he hit me. ''What?'' I complained as I rubbed my arm where he'd hit me, but I still kept my gaze on the girl who looked back at me but only for a split second before walking closer to the entrance. ''I was talking about your party.'' Dom told me, ''But I guess you're more interested in the girl over there.'' ''Yeah,'' I murmured, still not looking away from her. ''You've got no chance.'' Charlotte said with a quick glace at the girl. ''Why?'' I asked, slightly annoyed. ''Because I've seen her face in a picture in the admin office when I was volunteering before the trimester, I can't remember her name. It's unusual, a foreign name, but anyway, she's got an impressive GPA, best in our year, in fact, she's not going to fall for your lines.'' ''So like you to know your competition.'' Chloe smiled as Charlotte. ''I agree with Char.'' Dom smiled at me. ''If she's smart she's not going to fall for your cr*p.'' ''Is that so?" ''It is.'' Dom smirked. ''Care to make a wagger?'' I said as I looked back at the girl to find her staring at the entrance door. She must be reading the plark, I'd seen it all before, it held no interest for me. ''Yeah,'' Dom said confidently, ''I'll bet you that you can't get her into bed by the night of your 18th, if you can't, then you baby sit for me every Saturday night for two months straight.'' ''And if I do?'' ''If you do, then I'll clean out the dog's paddock every Saturday for one month.'' ''You're on.'' I laughed and wandered towards the girl. In truth, I was nervous. No girl had ever made my heart race, and it was racing again now. The closer I got to her, when I was with-in reaching distance, I was still thinking of things to say, when had I ever been tongue-tied? Why was I so nervous? Just before I spoke I saw her shake her head in what, frustration? Amusment?' ''Are you alright?" I asked, trying not to laugh. The second she turned towards me my heart skipped a beat, she was even more beautiful close up, those eyes, holly cr*p those eyes drew me in, and she smelt fantastic. I wonder if she knows how f*cking tempting she is? ''I’m fine.'' She snapped. I smiled even wider, she had a bite to her. I tried not to laugh. ''You were shaking your head.'' I reminded her, ''I thought you might be lost.'' ''Well I’m not.'' She said abruptly, and I registered her accent, Australian, hot, I'd never hooked up with an Aussy before. But I think I was annoying her, and for some reason it amused me. ''You're Australian?'' ''Last I checked,'' She said feistily, ''Excuse me-'' No! I thought franticaly, don't go, sh*t, how do I stop her? ''My names Noah.'' I reached out my hand to stop her from leaving and after what seemed like hours she put her hand in mine. ''Noah Lincon Cooper.'' I went on stupidly, why would she care what my full name was, how dumb of me, but I was distracted by the feel of her hand, so soft and warm and I could feel a strange buzzing under my skin where she touched me, stop imagining sh*t, I told myself. ''Mina.'' She said and held her breath. Why? I thought I smelt good, and I know she does. Without even thinking about it, I moved closer to her, but she pulled her hand away from me. I felt a strange sense of loss when she did that. What the f*ck was wrong with me today what's with this girl? ''Mina.'' I repeated, to try to prolong the conversation. Charlotte was right, it was an odd name. ''Interesting name, is it short for something?'' Mina frowned at me as if she didn't want to answer. Why? I thought again, this girl was compelling. ''Etamina.'' Etamina? I thought, wait as second. ''Like the wolf.'' I asked, dad had told me that story as a boy. ''Excuse me?'' Mina said angrily. Wow, where did that come from? Did I insult her somehow? ''The wolf.'' I repeated, ''Like in the legend.'' ''I don’t know what you’re talking about.'' She snapped at me, ''Excuse me.'' She added more firmly this time and practically sprinted through the doors. Sh*t.. that went well. I have no idea what the hell I did to p*ss her off. I tried to think of a time when a girl had bolted from me, never. I stood there like a foll for a few seconds, before Dom and my sisters reached me. Dom was laughing, ''Chloe, I think you'd better start planning some Saturday night activities, we're about to have some free.'' ''You haven't won yet.'' I laughed as I walked inside with them.
