As Ginger began to greet old friends she’d invited, Marina went to check on Kai. “How’s it going?” Kai beamed. “What a fabulous crowd. They love the Italian sodas you ordered, but I’ll tell you what’s been really popular.” She had a mischievous twinkle in her eye. “What else did we have?” “Exactly,” Kai said, holding up a finger. “Remember the fruit and yogurt I’d bought? Well, I thought, what if I whipped it up and made smoothies—because what’s a beach cafe without smoothies? And then I ran out of yogurt, so I switched to ice cream.” Beside Kai sat a blender and small paper cups of smoothies.
