17 LILY My slow amble into Shadow’s Lounge halted like I’d hit a brick wall. Scott. Sitting with Blaine. Sure my mind played tricks on me, I took in Scott’s steady gaze—almost horrified widened eyes. Blaine grinned at me like I was a burst of sunlight through gray clouds. Scott swallowed so damn hard I could see his throat working from across the lounge. Shame slammed into me like an eighteen-wheeler. They’re going to think I’m a whore... My stomach turned inside out, but another thought rushed into my brain, giving me whiplash. Had the two guys played me? Gaze flitting back toward Blaine, I noted his flushed cheeks, the same shyness and excitement I’d seen every time we’d been together.
