16 GREYSON Blaine and I sat at the high table we always tucked ourselves away into at Shadow’s Lounge, the darker corner making it easier for my best friend to relax. I didn’t get him out too often, but the quieter bar had been one in the past that didn’t make his feet itch to head home after a single drink. I sat with a cold beer in hand, him a glass of chardonnay as usual, chatting about daily life s**t, which I’d done intentionally to make him relax, his defenses down.
