AUBREY’S POV
A decision was already made. That explains why when I got home, I started packing my bags. From Peter and Paul’s report, I come to learn that Eli and Victoria were in Kisumu, Kenya. They had really chosen quite a place to hide now that it was far away from home.
Miles away and I was actually going to be in the plane for more than two hours in order to get them. They were in Africa. They thought that I would not have found them but the good news is that I have.
I packed all my staff as if I knew for sure that I was not going to get back home. Actually, something just told me that I was going to be in Kenya for a very long time.
After dinner, I decided to disclose the news to my parents.
“Mum and dad, I am going to leave tomorrow,” I announced as soon as I sat them down after dinner.
“Where are you heading to, my dear daughter?” My dad demanded answers.
“Kenya,” I said this and they all gasped. I knew it. Kenya is so far away and this was so unexpected.
“That is so far away,” My mum was already panicking.
“I have already decided mum. I am going to start a business there. After three months, I will come back home,” I told them and they were hesitant.
“But daughter,” My dad was not for the idea.
“Trust me in this dad, I have thought about it critically and it turns out that this is what I want to do. Nothing else,” I made it clear to them
“We will miss you so much,” My mum said this with a broken voice. She was already crying.
“I will miss you too. Don’t worry mum, we will skype and talk most of the time,” I forced a smile before heading over to hug her tightly.
“I wish there was another way,” She mumbled.
“I wish so too,” I hushed.
“I hope you are not doing this for that guy,” My dad who was silent all this time hushed.
“Of course not,” I lied.
That night, I hardly slept. I talked to my parents for a few more minutes and since they already supported my decision, I wished them goodnight.
It was going to be a very long flight thus I had to have lots of rest.
I thought a lot about this decision. I hope finding them and making them pay for their betrayal would give me the peace that I crave for. I was done crying.
Finally, I was able to sleep.
**
My alarm went off at exactly 6:00am in the morning. My flight was at 8:00pm meaning I only had some little time to prepare.
I rushed to the bathroom and after that, I dressed up.
My mum helped me take my luggage downstairs. We had our last family breakfast together before my departure.
My dad offered to drive me to the airport and I couldn’t be happier.
“I wish you all the best love.” He told me as he hugged me once we got to the airport.
“Thanks dad,” I forced a smile.
“Aubrey,” He called me after I had walked a few steps away from where he was starting watching me leave.
“Yes dad,! I turned to look at him and walked back to listen to what he had to say.
“Please remember this. Love will heal you. I don’t know how, but it will. I know that loving someone broke you but trust me when I say, you will find love and you will be happy again,” He explained but I didn’t see the sense.
“I am sorry to say this, dad, but I don’t think I will ever love someone again. I have had my share of love. No thank you,” I was honest.
“You will come to understand what I am telling you. Anyway, I love you. Talk to me, and when you feel low, just know I love you and I will always be there for you no matter what,” My dad told me this and I hugged him once more.
Of course I did love him. He is my hero.
I checked on my watch and it was clearly time for me to go in and get checked. My dad allowed me to leave. I could see tears forming at the slit ends of his eyes but there was nothing that I could do. I have to do this for myself.
I got checked and after a while, I was seated in the plane. I busied myself by reading magazine but I was bored an hour later. This flight was twelve bloody hours and I had to be patient for I have to get to Kenya. It is not like there was another alternative anyway.
I ate after about two hours of being in the plane. For the next couple of hours, I was listening to music. Other times I was playing video games. Other times, I was sleeping. I was going to do all it takes to kill those hours so that I can eventually land in Kisumu to deal with the people who betrayed my trust.
Finally, after twelve hours which looked like a thousand hours, we landed in Nairobi. Kisumu was a city in the lake region, so I changed my plane. I took the plane that would take me to Kisumu.
I was patient and finally, we landed in Kisumu. Before leaving, I had booked a room at Acacia Premier Hotel and when I landed, I saw the cab driver holding a board for me. This is my first time being in Africa, specifically, Kenya.
I rode in the cab till we got to the hotel. I loved the greenery and the beautiful view of Lake Victoria. As soon as I checked into my room, I took a shower and they served me my meal by the room service.
I enjoyed eating fish and naan before I went to bed. I was so exhausted. I needed to rest.

THE NEXT DAY
Paul and Peter were specific with their findings. I knew where Eli and Victoria lived and worked. Eli had a friend in Kenya who helped him get a job at Standard Bank. Eli had done accounting and this work suited him.
Victoria on the other hand was a housewife as he managed his father’s investments in Kenya. His dad was filthy rich and this is to say that Victoria was born on a silver platter.
After my breakfast, I decided to get to work. By work I mean, going to find Eli. I was going to start with him. After him is when I will go and deal with Victoria.
I boarded a cab after leaving the hotel. I had instructed the cab driver to take me to Standard Bank.
I needed to have a word with Eli, I want to know why he left me on my wedding day.
I wanted answers from him. After this, I will make him face the bitter consequences for what he did. Even though I still love him, I will destroy him.
He did me dirty and I would never wish that to happen to someone, even on my worst enemy.
