Chapter 31: Bite

2014 Words
Ezekiel I ran alongside Marisoll to try to stop Cairn from trying to kill Cynthia, I still wasn’t sure how his mind worked in wolf form, Marisoll I could understand he did not hurt because he saw her as a mate, but I did not understand why he did not attack me when he had been in wolf form and seen me touching Marisoll, he had almost lost control, but then he had been fine, why? He hated me more than anyone, so why be ok around me but become so lost to the wolf with Cynthia? There was no time to dwell on it, Cairn had crashed through the door before we could reach him, Marisoll ran inside and threw herself in front of Cynthia, blocking her from Cairn with her own body. Cairn growled at her, a sound so deadly and ferocious that even the bravest of men would have trembled before him, but Marisoll stood her ground and yelled, “control yourself and shift back! Now!” He ignored her and managed to reach around and bite Cynthia’s leg, she screamed out in pain and the blood only sent him into an even more frenzied bloodlust. Mystic Zerena ran in and blasted him with a knockout spell, he crashed to the floor unconscious and I dragged him out of the way so that she and Marisoll could tend to Cynthia’s injured leg. Blood was everywhere, he had hurt her pretty bad, and I thought it best to get him out of the house and away from the strong scent of blood and fear. I had no idea what state he would be in when he awoke, a ravenous beast, or himself again? I stood guard while the ladies helped Cynthia, Esther I noticed was not anywhere to be seen, she must have run off afraid of the chaos that had ensued. I was going to go in search of her when Cairn began to stir, my body tensed ready for a fight, he woke up groggily, shook his head and then stood up on shaky paws. I watched as he shook his body of any last sleepiness, and then he looked at me with eyes so intelligent I knew he was Cairn again, his humanity was back in there. He padded off somewhere and when he returned he was in human form and naked, very naked. “For the love of the gods could you at least come out with some underwear on,” I muttered. Marisoll had laid his clothes out on the side for him, ready for his return to us, with narrowed eyes at me, he sneered, “my apologies, if I had known there was a princess here I would have made more of an effort.” “Grow up Cairn.” He stepped into my personal space and snarled, “no, you grow the f.uck up, you have no idea how excruciating it is to change forms, it is nothing like how it is for Marisoll, if I wear clothes they would get twisted up with my insides, could even stop me mid-change leaving me stuck like that and kill me, so man to man you are going to have to deal with me being naked at times, you have a d.ick it is not like it should be a shock to see one.” I understood what he was saying, but I hated his damn attitude. “Did you eat enough raw meat? You still seem to be in a foul mood.” “Nah I’m great, the wolf isn’t the problem, you are.” He shouldered past me and walked into the house. My hands itched to stab him in the back, but I refrained from doing so, stabbing the man in the back unawares was both cowardly and petty, but if he kept up with the hostile attitude I could see this turning into one of our many fights. I followed him inside and mystic Zerena asked, “where is Esther?” “S.hit,” Cairn mumbled, I turned to go find her, but he s.lapped his arm and hand against my chest and said, “I’ll find her, it was my mess I will clean it up.” I walked over beside mystic Zerena and looked at Cynthia’s leg, it looked like Cairn had bitten down to the bone, she had big gashes and each time mystic Zerena wiped away the blood more spilled down her leg, looking more closely I noticed that whenever the cloth was dabbed gently over the wounds the light pressure caused more blood to pour out. Mystic Zerena cleaned her up as best she could and then she asked Marisoll to grab her some thread and a needle from Cynthia’s sewing cupboard. She rushed to get them and quickly handed them to mystic Zerena who got to work on stitching up Cynthia’s wounds. Cynthia winced and cried out in pain, her fingers digging into the stool she was sitting on. Mystic Zerena called over her shoulder, “Ezekiel, come be a gentleman and hold the poor lady’s hand, give her what comfort you can from the pain.” I went over and held one of Cynthia’s hands, and she almost shredded mine and crushed it. When mystic Zerena was finished she had Cynthia go lie down to rest, and I cornered her when she took the items to the kitchen. “Will she turn, become like Cairn?” I asked. She shook her head, “no, I gave her a special brew to stop the infection spreading, it should be drawn out of her system by morning or mid-day tomorrow at the latest.” “How is that possible?” “They are rare ingredients to find, but I always like to be prepared, as long as someone drinks it before their first change then it can be reversed, if they change forms before taking the brew, then it is too late, no cure.” It was a scary thought to think how much power Cairn could have over your life, that in a split second one bite, and he could change your life forever. Marisoll was standing outside looking up at the sun, I went and stood beside her sliding my arm around her waist and pulling in close to my side. “I still can’t believe it,” she whispered. I looked up too, it was a glorious sight to see it again. “I wonder how much of the curse was lifted, the beasts are still here and the sirens still seem the same too.” She turned to look at me, “I do not know, perhaps they cannot be helped, perhaps they will be the last of the darkness.” “One can only hope,” I murmured. “Cairn came back from the dead like usual, how do we fix that?” She asked. Mystic Zerena stepped outside and said, “we need to destroy her ring.” When we both looked at her, she explained, “all the gods each have a ring connected to them and their essence, it is powerful, if the stories are true, then she hid her ring somewhere in the ocean where no one could get to it.” “Why?” I asked. She walked over to the river and I followed her along and watched as she bent down to wash her hands. “Well, if memory serves, it was a backup plan if she was ever defeated, with the ring out there her essence and her curse will still be active, not as strong but still there, still alive.” She turned to look up at me and said, “we destroy that ring we finally get our world back, the darkness gone forever.” “Her hatred towards us runs so deeply she would still have us suffer even after her death?” “It would seem so,” she replied and stood up, shaking water from her hands. A few droplets landed on her chest and my eyes followed as they slid down between her big creamy b.reasts, I liked the dresses she wore, the way they showed off her big cleavage. I quickly turned my head away when I thought that, Cairn was right, I was still attracted to mystic Zerena and it was both inappropriate and disrespectful to Marisoll. I turned to Marisoll and saw she had already caught me looking, she narrowed her eyes at me and s.lapped the back of my head. Her slaps felt more like punches and I rubbed the back of my head while mystic Zerena laughed. Good job Cairn was not here to add fuel to the fire, he’d never let me live it down. “Sorry,” I whispered to Marisoll, she slipped her hand into mine and said, “it’s ok, I was only being half serious, I know you had feelings for her before you met me and I can hardly complain when I have Cairn and expect you to share me.” “That was a choice I made as well as Cairn, we agreed to this arrangement.” “But we did not discuss about you men also having other women in your life.” I stopped us from walking and let mystic Zerena go on ahead before looking at Marisoll and asking, “and how would you feel if we wanted to be with other women?” I saw the look of hurt in her eyes before she ever spoke. Smiling softly at her, I stroked her curls away from her face and said, “I do not want anyone else, I chose you and I knew what I was getting myself into, I do not mind sharing you with Cairn, but I would not accept you being with anyone else, is that fair?” “That is so much more than fair,” she smiled. I pulled her into a hug, and she clung to me, it was so hard to remember just how vulnerable and sweet Marisoll was, only during quiet moments like these did I get to see this side of her. She reached up and kissed me on the lips, I deepened the kiss, dancing my tongue over hers softly, intimately, felt myself growing hard, she felt it too and laughed against my lips, “down boy.” “Mm, I think Cairn is the one who you should say that too,” I mumbled against her lips, laughing she replied, “ssh, don’t let him hear you say that.” I grabbed her a.ss and pulled her in against my body, pressing myself against her. “I really wish these clothes weren’t in the way right now.” She let me undo some of the buttons on her top, without her armour in the way I got to enjoy seeing her b.reasts spill out on display for me, her black skin shimmered lightly with sweat, her n.ipples hard and her b.reasts looking round and perfect I wanted nothing more than to run my tongue over them, to taste her black skin, the sweet saltiness of her sweat, I wanted to suck and lightly bite her n.ipples so I could hear her moan for me, but mystic Zerena ruined the moment by calling out, “can you two come help with dinner!” Sighing in defeat I stepped back while Marisoll did her buttons back up, laughing at my expression. “I shall make it up to you later,” she grinned and pulled me by the hand to go help prepare dinner. Cairn still was not back yet, but I didn’t worry too much, he had senses keener than any of us, he would find Esther there was no doubt about that, I just hoped he found her before she landed into any trouble. I looked over at the cot where Cynthia was and saw she was asleep, the events of today, as well as her injuries had clearly exhausted her.
