ELENA’S POV

That was the most liberated I had felt in a very long time, the sky was so beautiful and so was the moon. I wished I could stay up there a little longer and I wished tye fire moon could last longer than one night, because then I would be able to stay in the sky for as long as I wanted to. But all good things always come to an end and my time outside had also come to an end and I had to head back home.

After I had returned to my human form I felt stronger, and something was a little different about me today. I felt like I had developed a new set of powers and I was feeling fantastic. I felt like I now had a little more control over my powers.When I flew up high I felt like I was on top of the world and I also felt very strong, stronger than I had ever felt during the fire moon day. I got dressed wondering if I felt like that because I had met my mate or simply because I had matured after all today was my first birthday.

I happily ran home, excited to tell my father what I had experienced and that I had met my mate and I hoped he would share my happiness.

After I put on my clothes I rubbed my hands together because I was now feeling a little cold, for some reason smoke started coming out of them and flames followed soon after. What was happening to me? Panicked, I ran to the lake that was nearby and dipped my hands in it and the fire went out. That had never happened to me before so I was very scared when it happened, I had never been able to produce flames with my hands while in human form and I feared what this meant. My father havalways warned me that too much power could corrupta person And I feared the truth in that statement.

I immediately ran home where my father was already waiting for me and he didn’t look pleased at all. That’s when I realized that I was late, I was supposed to get here before dawn and the sun was already up.

“Father you won’t believe what happened?” I said as I ran to him ignoring the frown on his face

“Elena! I hope whatever it is that happened is an explanation of why you are back so late” he whispered as he stormed towards the palace and I ran after him, in fear of the scolding I was about to endure but still excited to share my great news with him when the hopes that hearing ehat happened tould calm him down.

“I just lost track of time, I am sorry. But I have to tell you something important” I said excitedly

“I also have something important to say to you, but let’s do that inside the palace. I don’t want anyone to overhear our conversation” he said and I noticed how serious and scary his tone was, I started thinking back to what I could have done to make him this mad at me and I just couldn’t figure it out. But then again I had done a Lot of things that had gone against my father's rules the previous night

I followed him until we got inside the palace and until we were safely in my room. I was now scared of whatever he had to tell me. What if he had seen we with Neil

“What the hell were you thinking last night?” he demanded

“What did I do?” I asked still confused of which part of last night he was talking about because as far as i knew he eidnt know about me meeting Neil.

“I am talking about you flying so close to the moon, a moon that all wolf of nation was watching. If I could see what you were then everybody else could too” he said and I dropped my head in shame realising that hvyad seen me, but what had I expected?. I had never disobeyed my father because I never wanted to hurt him in any way.

“I am sorry dad I got carried away” I said

“Do you know how many panicked wolves I have had to deal with today and all because of your recklessness?” he asked

“I am so sorry dad it won’t happen again” I said

“Of course it won’t” he said and I was even afraid to ask him what he meant by that "next time I will go with you like I used to when you were a child" he added

"But I am not a child anymore" I cried and he ignored me

“Your phoenix has grown in size and that means you have matured. So it’s time for you to learn how to control your powers” he said

“That’s what I wanted to tell you father, I had fire coming out of my hands,” I said excitedly jumping up and down

“Thats to be expected because you are a full grown Phoenix now, did the fire stop on its own?” he asked

“No, I used water” I said and he nodded

“Now it’s time for you to know what you truly are and what it means,” he said and I got scared because that meant there were some parts of who I was that I didn’t know

NEIL’S POV

“Did you see that Phoenix last night?” Chris asked

“I did see it, I was horrified. I thought that those creatures were legends and they didn’t exist” I said

“well they say that only one exists in a life time, a creature with power like that will be a threat to the wolf nation” he said

“I don’t know man, I mean it looked like it was minding its own business and it was enjoying the fire moon like the rest of us,” I said and then my father walked in.

My father was literally the greatest Alpha I knew and I looked up to him. I hoped that when I became the Alpha I would be half the man he was. It was just sad that he lost my mum when I was still young, I still remembered a little bit about her. but her image bin my head sort of got a little clouded and blurred by all the years that I hadn’t see her.

“Boys, what are you talking about” he said taking his seat opposite us in the living room, my father was nosey and he always wanted to know what I got up to with my friends.

“We are talking about the phoenix Alpha Antonio" Chris said with respect, you would swear he was the most respectful wolf in the pack when you heard him talking to my father.

“Oh I heard about that, did you see it Neil?” he asked me

“Yeah I did but I don’t see what the big deal is” I said

“Well the big deal is that we are all in danger if indeed there is a phoenix out there and King Michael should do something about it, I always knew he was too stupid and useless to solve the problems that this Kingdom faces. All that power he has at his disposal and all he can think of doing is to keep his daughter hidden” he said and I remembered Elena

“I actually think I met her yesterday” I said instantly catching my father’s attention

“And where did you meet her?” he asked with a sudden spike in interest

“In the forest, she is kind of my mate” I said and I saw my father’s eyes light up and he jumped for joy as he made his way to me and took me in his arms spinning me around like I was some little boy even though I was 20.

“Dad put me down” I demanded.

“Do you know what this means son, this means that we are one step close to being in the palace and taking over...our dreams are finally coming true” he said and I sat down with a raised eyebrow, I had never realized that my own father was a power hungry bastard. In fact I had never thought of my dad as a bastard neither did I ever think I would think of him as one, but at this moment he was acting like one.

“No dad, this means I have finally found my mate and I can finally be fulfilled. This is about me and not us or the pack or your dream of taking over tha palace" I corrected him trying to hide my irritation with him.

“You are wrong son, this is about the whole pack. We were meant to rule the fire moon kingdom and with a phoenix on the loose we can now get the power we need to do that. But first we will infiltrate the Palace using your mate” he said and I could literally see the wheels turning in his head

“No way dad, I am not using my mate to fulfill your ill fantasies. If you want to overthrow the Alpha king then you are on your own” I said as I stood up and walked off. There was no way that I was going to allow my dad to turn me into the asshole he was. I loved Elena and I had no intention of using her for anything even if that meant disobeying and going against my father.
