Chapter 25

2669 Words

Jareth Pov     I looked at Nicki, startled that she wanted to ride next to me. Out of everyone, I was the least likely person she’d pick. I figured she’d rather annoy Thais before she came to ride next to me. It was funny, the thing with me and Nicki. There was a time that she was really close to me. For a few weeks after she was found in the woods, she came to live with us. Dad was out on a mission with his assassins, and she had been found as a little toddler, just walking around innocently unsure what was going on. She was so little, so cute, and I told my mom I wanted to keep her. I called Nicki my little doll. She didn’t talk because of whatever shock she went through, but she didn’t need to talk with me. We were both kids, and I guess in a way I understood her without needing words.
