Chapter 6 - The Pheromone

1750 Words
Vlarius’ POV That day, I went home just to grab my stuff from the apartment and decided to stay over Marvin’s house. I didn’t want to stay in the apartment and be alone with Aoi for a while—not because I hate him but because there’s something that’s bothering me. After what happened to me and Aoi in the school, everything just became really awkward for me. I mean, I’m not used to these things, it’s all new to me. Plus, I’m in love with Marvin. I can’t let myself to give in to Aoi’s scent every time I smell it. That’s just not right. It’s not Aoi’s fault that he’s an Omega and he releases a scent that would make me go crazy, it’s just that I’m torn. I couldn’t choose. My mind is telling me that I love Marvin but my body wants Aoi. Fuck this Omega, Alpha or whatever this s**t is. This s**t is screwing with my head and my body and I hate it!                                                                                                                                                                                   I sighed and rubbed the temples of my head. “On this day, Scientists found out that the disease is actually not a disease but a part of a human evolution. The evolution’s cause is still unknown but there are a lot of theories about it but this one is the most popular—the human body evolved to save the long-time-issue of the declining rate of the human population.” I heard Marvin reading an article on his phone while sitting beside me. I looked at him and the corner of my lips instantly curved up. Ah…. I knew it, after all, Marvin’s still my best safe haven. His existence alone is enough to make me calm. I smiled. I looked at him and smiled. Marvin slowly looked at me. He had this confused look on his face. He then squinted his eyes and my eyes widened when he suddenly moved forward until our faces were inches away from touching each other. I gulped. Marvin just looked at me for a while. I was about to close my eyes when he suddenly looked away. “There was something on your face.” He said and immediately went back to scrolling on his phone. My eyebrows furrowed and I immediately opened my phone’s camera to look at myself. I raised my brow in confusion when I didn’t see anything on my face. “Hey! You said that there was something on my face!” I said to Marvin. He looked at me. “There is!” he said. “What? I can’t see anything.” I said to him again. He stood up and pointed at my face. “There.” My eyebrows furrowed and before I could even ask what is was again, he spoke. “Ugliness.” He said and then chuckled. I face palmed and just like him, I chuckled also. It’s normal for us to joke like that—I don’t get offended or anything. I smiled. We continued on hanging out together when we heard the someone knocking on the door. Marvin stood up and went to get the door and I followed him—which I regret in an instant because the moment he opened the door, a woman entered the room and hugged Marvin. The woman was crying and hugging Marvin very tight. I bit my lower lip and immediately looked away. I returned inside the room and grabbed my things because I know that I couldn’t stay here any longer or else it would be a very awkward situation. I sighed. Marvin looked at me with an apologetic look on his face. I sighed again and just smiled. I know that I couldn’t do anything anymore. I just gave him an assuring look and smiled before leaving his place. --- I was standing in front of the door of my apartment for ten minutes already because I couldn’t decide if I should enter or not. I couldn’t go anywhere because my parents live far away from me and I have no friends other than Marvin. I sighed. It’s already late and from what I’ve observed, Aoi sleeps very early—for sure he’s asleep by now right? I mean, it’s not that I don’t want to see Aoi. It’s just that, things are very awkward between us right now. Damn, I can’t believe I ran away from him like that earlier. It’s obvious that he’s going into his heat. Nothing happened to him right? Ah, damn it. I’m going in. I took out my keys from my bag and opened the door. It was dark inside but I know that Aoi’s here because his bag is on the table. I sighed and gulped and then slowly closed the door behind me. I could see Aoi on his bed but I couldn’t see his face clearly because of the darkness and also, his body was fully covered with his sheet. I think it’s good for me too, I could ignore him with that. I immediately went to my bed. I didn’t bother to clean myself up anymore because I already washed up in Marvin’s house. As I laid on my bed, I couldn’t help but to look at Aoi’s direction. Our beds are only a few meters away. Without my knowledge, my hands stretched to him as if I’m reaching for him. When I realized what I was doing, I immediately pulled away faced the other way. Just like him, I covered up myself with my sheets. I was about to close my eyes to fall asleep when a familiar scent filled the room. My eyes slightly widened and I looked at Aoi’s direction again. His face were still covered with the sheet. I stood up and was about to approach him when he suddenly groaned and turned the other way. My eyebrows furrowed. I sighed and laid on my bed again and faced to his face. He’s asleep but he can release that familiar scent? Does the heat work that way also? But this one’s different though, the scent doesn’t seduce me or make me go crazy. The scent that he’s giving off right now smells different. It smells sweeter… --- Aoi’s POV I was biting my lips very hard. I’m underneath my sheets and just a few meters away from me is Vlarius. Even in the dark, I can feel his piercing blue eyes looking at my back. God f*****g damn it. Why did he have to go home now? I thought he was staying with friend Mari or something. The heck, and why was he trying to reach me earlier? What was that?! I bit my lower lip and gasped when I tasted the blood in my mouth. Oh s**t, I think I bit my lip too hard. I sucked in air. I should really calm down. I can’t let Vlarius get into me because he’s nothing but a jerk. He left me alone in the school earlier. I had to leave at night because there was still a lot of students around. I definitely should ignore Vlarius again just like how I did before. I can’t let him make me feel these annoying feelings. There’s nothing going on between us, we just f****d because of the evolution. Nothing more than that. I sighed. And after having some arguments with my very own thoughts, I was finally able to fall asleep. --- Today is the day that I’ve decided to ignore Vlarius just like how I did before this human f*****g evolution happened. In the apartment, I made sure to wake up very early. In that way, I wouldn’t be able to interact with him. At school, I was lucky enough because we weren’t classmates and our buildings are far away from each other—though, we only share one canteen. That’s my only problem. I’ll just have to make sure that we wouldn’t cross paths no matter what happens. Then again, I realized that I would have to skip my lunch because of that. I sighed as I felt my stomach grumbling. Damn, I forgot to eat my breakfast earlier because I didn’t want to wake him up. I immediately shook my head. I need to focus! I must avoid him at all costs! --- Vlarius’ POV “Vlarius, are you okay? Earth to Vlarius?” Marvin said and waved his hands in front of me to get my attention. I blinked a couple of times before looking at Marvin’s face. He looked confused. “What?” I asked him. Marvin’s eyebrows furrowed. “Oh, turns out that I was talking to myself for fifteen minutes straight already. What’s happening with you?” He said to me. Did I just space out? “I-I’m sorry.” I apologized to Marvin. “Anyway! I’m talking about this shop that sells the best tea! Wanna go with me?” “Yeah, sure.” I and Marvin just kept on talking while walking inside the campus. When we reached the canteen, my eyes instantly landed on a familiar spot and my eyebrows furrowed when I didn’t see that person there. “What are you going to eat?” Marvin asked me. “The usual.” I answered without looking at him. --- Aoi’s POV “Damn, I’m hungry.” I whispered to myself. I’m currently spending my lunchbreak on the rooftop alone. Good thing that lunch break’s almost over and the students already left the rooftop. I sighed. I guess I’ll have to skip my next class just to have my lunch. I laid on the ground and looked up to the sky. I sighed again and then closed my eyes when I felt something cold touching my cheek. I slowly opened my eyes and there I saw Vlarius sitting beside me while looking at me. I immediately sat up and moved a few inches away from him. I gulped. What is he doing here?! My eyes slightly widened when he handed me a bag of food. “W-What’s this for?” “You didn’t eat your lunch.” He said to me. I gulped and looked away from him. For a few seconds, we just sat there in silence. I bit my lower lip and was about to leave the place when he suddenly spoke. “You know, you didn’t have to skip your lunch or wake up early just to avoid me.” He said in a calm manner. I slowly looked at him. “I know you’re mad at me for taking off like that. I know it was a very jerk move and I apologize for that.” he said and looked at me and when our eyes met, I felt my heart started to beat so fast when that happened.  “Vlarius—” I was about to talk to him when he suddenly turned his back away from me. “Don’t skip your next class.” That’s the last thing he said before he left the place. --- NOCTURNALBEAST
