Preparation for the Ball

1153 Words
I’m having troubles with forcing my powers to retreat. They desperately aim to recover my body.   “Yara,” William whispers while nobility walk to the main hall. Sophia smiles brightly and sincerely, but she leaves with her father as well. The last look which she directs to William is however cold, envious and hateful.   I still have the knife stung in my thigh. When the adrenalin leaves my body, I feel how the pain is trying to master my body.   “Yara,” William whispers in my direction.   We are here alone. I stare at him admiring his hair and lips. His two blue orbs are hooked on me.   “Follow me,” he orders me and I surprisingly don’t protest. He leads me to the infirmary. For the first time, I see it completely empty.   Where are everyone?   “Take off your pants,” he announces and I smirk at his command. “It has to be taken care of, cleaned and bandaged,” he explains. “You can go behind the curtain, take it off and grab a sheet to cover yourself if you like,” he says softly.   I do what he says. When I get rid of the knife, my wound starts to bleed and I hiss. William rushes to me without hesitation.   “It’s nothing,” I object and I grab a sheet.   “I’ll help you,” he suggests and when I don’t complain or protest, he starts unzipping my pants. I don’t feel pain any more, it’s getting hot in here all of the sudden.   He undresses me and when he sees my bare legs and ankles, I can feel he holds his breath. He doesn’t look into my eyes he just examines my wound. I hold my sheet tight to my body.   “Sit down,” he suggests softly and then he grabs some jar. When he opens it, I smell herbs and oil. He takes a little on his finger and then he layers the herbal ointment around my wound. It cools and I smell mint. Then he says some words and my wound heals just like that.   I’m amazed. I would never think that the Pure Blood Prince would care about somebody as unimportant as Yara.   “Don’t tell anybody about what I’ve done,” he almost pleads while bandaging my thigh gently.   “Don’t worry, I won’t,” I promise and for a short moment he smiles at me.   He’s done. It seems he wants to tell me something, but we’re interrupted.   “William,” it’s Sophia. “You should prepare for the ball,” she’s clearly annoyed she must tell him that.   William looks at me and then he leaves me with Sophia.   “Well done. Yara,” Sophia congratulates me sincerely, but she is simultaneously not satisfied and honest with me. “You’ll be my personal guard from now on,” she states with excitement though. “You’ll accompany me to the ball tonight.   “I thought that the ball has already started,” I voice my thoughts out loud.   “Oh no, you silly, my father had to meet the nobility and discuss some business and royal matters,” she explains thoroughly. “What is it between you and William?” she demands sternly with hostility all of the sudden and I’m taken back by the change in her voice.   “It’s nothing,” I almost whisper wanting to add an explanation, but she interrupts me.   “Well, let it stay this way then,” she twitters friendly. “We need to find a fitting dress for you!” She’s excited, but I turn her down.   “That’s very thoughtful, but I have already managed to find a gown myself,” I lie, because I want to be left alone. The truth is I don’t possess any gown, jewels, broches, necklace or slippers for tonight.   She eyes me suspiciously, but then she smiles and announces that we shall meet at the ball at eight o’clock.   When I’m back in my room I sit on the bed. I sigh very loudly, because it’s already six in the evening. I suddenly hear a light knocking on my door. I open the door and I see a big white box. I look in the corridor, but there’s no one to be found, not even guards or servants. I take the box inside and I open it.   I would never believe in what I see. There’s the gown which I was wearing during my last night in my previous life.   It’s still as gorgeous and magnificent as I remember. The robe is absolutely stunning. It does still look fashionable, light and elegant, but also modern and regal. The gown is worthy the queen.   I take it from the box. I admire it while looking at the mirror. All races had donated a small treasure or a part of the dress and it’s all in the box. Angels have provided the silver fabric as light as the air. Fae donated their special magic flowers which are always bright and never lose their silver shining while eternally looking as freshly picked up. Mermaids have given me the slippers made of thousands pearl scales. Demons have created long gloves made of darkness with thousands of shining fallen stars. Werewolves have made a special sheath for the special dagger which could be easily hidden in the back of the dress. Ghouls have created a silver belt which could be also used as a magical weapon. Vampires have created a matching necklace, earrings and bracelet which were red as blood and dark as night. And the witches have donated the bewitched mask specially designed for the pure female royal blood to protect the one who wears it. Not only did all of them create a masterpiece, but they have also given me hope.   I stand in front of the mirror admiring the stunning magnificence.   I don’t have to hide myself any more. I realize that now is the time. I release my powers for they have been waiting for that for a very long time.   I stare at myself at the mirror. My body slowly changes. My limbs grow stronger. I can feel every muscle changing in my body. My hair appears to be darker and longer, my eyes are bluer with silver shining flashes. My fat disappears, but I’m still very curvy and seductive. My skin is glowing a little. I don’t look like Yara anymore nor do I resemble to Selene.   I dress myself and I do my hair with magic. I finish the last touches and then I decide it’s already the time. I take the mirror dagger and the knives William gave me and hide it in the sheath at the back of my dress and under my dress.   I put on the mask and then I decide to finally meet my destiny.
