02: Mine

GIA: One thing I loved about Beta Hector was that he was full of confidence. He walked with full confidence, and I learned that it may be the reason why he had achieved so much in life. If I was to be asked, he deserved to be the alpha position, and not the beta only. The alpha was always nowhere to be found and said that he was already busy with his women, that he no longer bothered about the pack. The pack members wanted Beta Hector more than Alpha Alexander. Beta Hector stopped in front of me and smiled warmly at me. So handsome and hot… How I wished he was mine. I held my breath when he leaned in and whispered something in my ears. "May I have the honor to do this dance to a beautiful lady?" A shiver ran down my spine. Beautiful? He called me beautiful? Did he really not know I was the cleaner who always visited his room? How about my scent? How would he know your scent if you masked it with some potion you asked from a witch? Beta Hector and I always met in the hallway while I was cleaning then and sometimes, I would be the one assigned to clean his room, but he never spared a glance at me. He was always glued to his phone and never glanced at me. Is this even real? Am I really talking to the beta whom I had been infatuated with for a long time? Suddenly, there was again the feeling that I was being watched. Who? I looked around, but the other people had already paired and danced on the dance floor. No. The feeling must be because of my guilt that Beta Hector would know I was an omega of the pack. "Ow. You're turning down my proposal? Am I not your type?" he asked. I blinked a couple of times and remembered I had to accept his hand. His hands were those of a warrior who was constantly using his hands for sword and gun practices. He smiled and I almost fainted from happiness. I could die happily now. Beta Hector smelled so much like his room. Back then, I was only comforted by sniffing his pillows and blanket, but now, I have got to smell him real this time. I would definitely keep this dress for safekeeping, and I will not wash my hands until tomorrow. I do believe this was my lucky day. I had to get him now. Make sure he will not forget me. "You’re being fast, Beta Hector. I’m not like the others who would easily fall on any random men," I retorted. “Oh. Did I disappoint you? I’m sorry if I am too fast. I don’t usually see the woman who catches my attention is snatched by someone else. When I want someone, I will get her with all the means.” Did he mean I caught his attention? Was this the start of the reality of my dreams? “Oh. You’re quite straightforward, unlike the other men I met.” He showed me his pearly white teeth. "Care to dance with me?” A dance? I was glad I had prepared for this moment. “I..I don’t really know how to dance.” “Don’t worry. I don’t know either.” I grinned at him. “Liar. You were quite skilled earlier.” “You saw it?” I nodded. “With your girlfriend.” “She’s not my girlfriend,” he corrected. “Let’s not talk about her. May I know the name of this beautiful lady whom I am dancing with?" he asked as we made our way to the dance floor. The music shifted into something sweet. I almost jumped when his hands were on its way to my waist. Beta Hector smiled at me. "Your hands are cold. Are you nervous?" Nervous about confessing to you? Yes. But this night would not end if I weren't able to tell you my feelings, I said to myself. My wolf disagreed. "It's because of the snow outside, Beta," I politely answered. Our body had a mind of its own and moved to the beat of the music. I was glad I watched a few dance steps on some streaming platforms. If I was not wise enough, I would embarrassed myself in front of Beta Hector. "Oh. It snowed today. How did you know? It was not there early in the morning." How would I not have known when his father asked me to look for some herbs in the forest? I was glad that I was able to get it. If not, I would be shivering in the cold right now and might not be able to come here. "I am near the window," I lied. “I also loved watching the weather outside.” "You can wrap your arms around my neck," he ordered. "You don't have to be shy around me. You can treat me as your friend," he urged. My heart summersaults. Beta Hector was really kind. And I have already witnessed a lot of his good deeds. Especially towards stray animals. With my hands shivering, I did as I was told and put my arms around his neck. "Better. May I know the name of the woman I am dancing with?" "G-Gia.” I bit my lower lip when I remembered I was not supposed to tell him my name. He would be able to trace me. But there was a lot of Gia in this pack, right? That was my only consolation. “Gia. Beautiful name for someone like you. How come I haven't seen you here?" That was partly not true. I always see him whenever he steps out of the room. "I...I always stayed in my room," I said, which was somewhat true. When I was done with my omega duties, I stood in my room not wanting the others to pick on me. "Oh. A homebody. I like it." "I like you too. I mean...I like it too." He threw back his head in the air and laughed out loud. Everyone stopped what they were doing and was now watching the beta laugh. I just wanted the ground to swallow me. I did not want to have this kind of attention, not wanting them to be able to familiarize me that this was me. Their omega. I wonder if the beta will run away if he finds out that it was me? Would he get mad at me and tell me that I fooled him? 'You did not. It's not your fault that he is dumb and never gets to see the real you. You have been serving this pack for more than twenty years, and he has not familiar with you? What kind of bullshit is that?' my wolf exclaimed. 'He is not dumb. Stop saying mean things to him. You did not know him, yet.' 'I have my eyes, Gia. I can sense a bad person from a good man and this man is no good. Leave him.' 'I won't,' I answered, shut her off, and focused my attention on the beta. I focused my attention on Beta Hector, who was watching me with an amused expression on his face. "You are funny. You know that?" "I can be the clown to you. I consider myself a gift since I did not bring anything." You did not bring anything because you didn't have one. He smirked. "Why don't we go somewhere quiet?" he asked, and before I could respond, he dragged me in to anywhere else. Just as we were about to stay away from the crowd, someone called the beta’s name. And when we both looked around, my eyes widened when it was Alpha Alexander, whom I never met for quite some time. And the way he looked at me seemed like he was going to kill me. ‘Mine!’ my wolf cried.
