While I was in the other world I took out a spell book based all on healing, and I just flipped through it before finding one that was for after surgery and to heal all the internal things. I gasped as I woke up and sat up after wincing. "You shouldn't be sitting u-" "Just shut up." I shouted when Valentino came closer to me only to put his hand on my shoulder and tried to push me back. "Stop." I pushed his hands away and sighed before taking a deep breath in and out before chanting the spell and feeling so much better. Soon enough I sat back and sighed happily. "Can you step out." I said, and he just looked worried, but I waited patiently. Once he was out the door, I pulled out my catheters and flexed my legs and murmured the spell again when I felt a little soreness. I stood up and sighed happily again. I got towards the clothes that Devin had brought for me. It was supposed to be when I could feel more comfortable. I pulled the pants on and then the shirt after taking the awful hospital gown off. I pushed open my door and walked out. "What are you doi-" "I healed myself. I pulled out my own catheters because I am trained to do so, and not a moment too soon." I said waving him off. I still remembered his words of having to leave and I just kept walking. "So, you aren't cursed anymore?" "No, there is no magic in the world that can stop a curse, I just rapidly healed my insides from the surgery. I'm still going to die." "No, you aren't." He called after me as I kept walking. I followed my instincts before finding the cafeteria. "How long was I asleep?" I asked, and he just walked after me before looking at his big watch. "Half an hour." "And half the kitchen has been eaten." I said seeing my sister Devin still scarfing down a sandwich with pickles oozing out of all the sides. "What are you doing walking around! You shouldn't be. Where are your catheters?!" Aurora shocked me by asking all of those and then Devin started choking and Mark was helping her right away. "Wow, what kind of witch would I be if I didn't find out how to cure my healing needs. I am still cursed but I know how to heal myself after any other surgeries now." I said holding my hands up when they came closer and I just let them both hug me. "So, you're still cursed?" "Yes." I nodded into Devin's neck and walked towards their table with them. "Do you want some?" Devin offered me the other sandwich with way too much pickles and I made a face. "Oh, come on you can pick them all off." "You don't like pickles?" Dean asked me, and I made a face just looking at Devin take another bite not being able to answer. "She hates them, she got sick off of them when we were helping our mom in the kitchen. She was eating all the pickle chunks and slices and then daddy came home and twirled her around and she got pickle all over him." I turned to glare at A when she finished the story. "That's one of the only memories I have of being in the kitchen with mom." Devin said with her mouth full and then sighed when she stopped chewing. I knew as well as A that she started feeling like she should have been around mom more. "We all should have, but you know how she was. She used to ask us to go out and play while she surprised us with dinner. She didn't want our help. Not like that anyways. She did always put us on dishes and clean up duty unless she was making pot roast or on Thanksgiving and Christmas." I smiled at A this time and nodded. "I wish I would have taken time to be a kid-" "Don't do that to yourself Dev, it won't make you feel any better." I stopped her, and she leaned in on Marks shoulder. "Here, I got you some of the soup they were serving." I jumped when I heard Valentino's voice and he scooted into the chair next to me, then pushing the cardboard bowl with cream of broccoli inside and then set a spoon into it. "I thought you would be gone." I murmured and started eating. "Gone? Where would he go?" Dean asked, and I sighed and looked down at my soup. "I have some serious prior engagements that I need to attend." "While your mate is in the hospital? How old are you again?" Mark sized him up and looked at him with narrowed eyes. "The things aren't in our world, it's in the human world. If I say I can't go because my g girlfriend is in the hospital, they are going to check in on it, going to follow up. Human's don't trust each other like we do." He said it like he was desperate for everyone to listen and understand. "Then why are you still here?" Aurora asked narrowing her eyes and I just kept eating my soup. "Because I don't have to be there for another three days." He said, and I just grabbed one of the cracker packets from in front of him and he moved his arm to touch the back of my neck. I flicked his hand off me and I just kept eating and soaking the cracker in the white soup. "Tell them the other thing too." I waved him on and took another bite. "I can't have a serious relationship right now, especially since Ivory is sick like this. There is no explanation if humans get wind of all of this, and we can't have them poking their nose around in it." He said it so different I just had to roll my eyes and look around for the pepper. "Are you serious? Is he serious?" Devin looked to me, and then him, and then to the men, and then back to him before looking and locking eyes with Aurora. "I think he is, hey babe, can you excuse me, and Mark the same for Devin." I knew what was happening and I just cringed. "You, pretty boy, come on." "Mate... don't call him that before taking him out of my sight." Dean called after her when her and Devin got up. They both held onto each side of his arms and A winked back at her mate before they went out the door. It was mostly glass window on either side of the door. I heard it close before hearing a thud and then a groan and then another thud. "Should Devin be doing that?" Dean asked as we all saw her push Valentino's face into the window. I just stood up and walked closer. "He does need to think straight. I know your sisters don't want to hear it, but you know the truth, you might not live, and you are his mate Ivory. He needs to man up, wolf up, and take care of business. So, what if he has done something for the humans, he is a wolf first. He should have never made himself known and now he is going to have to disappear from that world soon. Especially if you do die." He said standing up and making me stop walking to stop my sisters from trying to hurt him. "Why would me dying matter?" I asked knowing already he just wanted a mate, not me. "Coming from someone who lost a mate before Ivory, I could barely survive without my first mate. The only reason I didn't take my own life was because the moon goddess told me she would send me back, because I needed to be here for your sister when the time was right.” "Sorry, I guess I wasn't thinking-" "It's fine. I got over the death, but the ache inside, all the things that we did together invaded my mind each time I was alone. And that is knowing and spending years with my mate. If I know Tino like I think I know him, then he will be even worse dwelling on all the things on what he could have done with you. What he should have done. Maybe your sisters will make him see this." Dean told me, and I just swallowed before turning back around and walking towards where I had been sitting before and finished the soup. "At least he knows you like that soup." Mark said, and I just laughed. "We went to camp together down in Baton Rouge for a couple weeks, and it was raining for a couple of the days we were there, and I got a small chill, like I always do, and it was either this or chicken noodle soup. I told him this because chicken was for those who were getting sick. And he got the same thing." I shrugged remembering that and I looked down at the little green specks in the white and took another bite. I was almost done before the three of them came back in. Valentino was rubbing his neck and moving his shoulder like it was sore and I just finished up my soup when they came back to sit down. I tipped the bowl and had every bit of it before Aurora cleared her throat before cracking her knuckles. "We're going to go get you some warmer clothes okay?" "When can we go home?" I asked them and they all sort of paused. "You can't just go home Ivy, you're sick." "No, I am cursed, there is a difference. Besides, you said there was a pack not too far from the city." I said looking to Mark and he nodded. "Then if I need another transplant we will go there." I said and shrugged. "Besides, I have residency starting up soon." I said and stood with them. "But I don't know where you live." "You're leaving anyways so it won't matter." I said towards Valentino and went to throw away my bowl. "I am going to go take a shower, do you think you can get some clothes from the place you have been staying in the next half hour?" I asked knowing I really needed a shower, a long hot one. "Yeah, I'll just go get your bag." Aurora said and stood up and wrapped one arm around me. "He's going to come with us, he is going to cancel everything. And he is going to stay with us. So, when you start feeling bad about him sleeping on the couch, maybe you can also share your bed with your mate." She told me with a wink when we got farther away from the rest of them. "You're up? You heal fast." I heard Ophelia and I smiled at her. A kissed my cheek and walked out the door quickly and I focused back on Ophelia. "Yeah, being a witch with powers does that... do you by any chance have any soap or shampoo so I can take a shower?" I asked and pushed my lips together. "Oh, yeah, it's in the back of the supply closet, I'll go get you some." She said, and I smiled before looking around for paper. I wrote down the little ingredients that just seemed to appear in front of my eyes, and then looked at them in a row before smiling. It was a potion and most of it was something I could whip up under a fire. She brought back the shampoo and towels before telling me there should be a couple bars of soap under the sink in the bathroom already. "Thank you." I said and gripped her hand. I walked away and into the room and dropped the things onto the chair near the door and then moved to Valentino's stuff looking for all the right things. He had them all and I just put a burner on and then a poured all of the stuff in there getting a couple puffs of smoke here and there. "What are you doing with my stuff?" Valentino's voice drifted over me and I added the last two drops into the potion before turning up the flames under the glass beaker. "Just making something, it's almost done." I said and waited as the color changed. "What is it?" He asked, and I turned off the flame. "It's going to get someone pregnant." I said as a matter of fact. "What the hell... I just said I would cancel everything and you want to make sure I-" "First of all, do I look like I even want you around me right now, second of all, I don't want kids right now. Or for a long time, I have my own career to think about. And third, it's for the receptionist that asked me if I knew anything about infertility." I said stopping him right away and glaring at him. "Now, if you will excuse me." I said and pushed him out of my way and walked towards the door. "Oh, did you not find the soap?" "No, I just- you asked me before about a certain problem, and I just wanted to give you this. It's a potion that you take after you have s*x with your mate. You have to take it within the hour of unprotected sex." I handed over the beaker and she took it with trembling hands. "Just one dose and you should have a baby in 9 months." I said and winked at her. "Good luck." "Thank you so much!" She said, and I heard the crack in her voice as I waved one last time over my shoulder to her. "Get out, I am about to take a shower." I said seeing Valentino sitting near where I had been working. "What did you just make her and how do you know it will work?" He asked picking up a few of the vials and I rolled my eyes. "Do I ask you that? No, so as I said, I have to take a shower, so please leave." "We're taking a private jet to New York, just wanted to let you know that." He told me and sat down. "Are you serious?" I asked totally exasperated. "What never been on one before?" He asked somewhat cocky and I glared at him. "Oh, I have, a couple of times, and if you are trying to impress me try harder. I don't know what happened to you over the years, but I liked you as a kid a lot more." I said and moved to get the towel and shampoo from the chair by the door before going towards the bathroom. I didn't want to lock the door just in case A came back and just put my suitcase in here. I started showering and humming noticing my stitches were also gone. I just stayed under the hot water for as long as possible. I walked out and dried off leaving my hair down and dripping before peeking out of the door. I saw no one so I walked out to make sure and saw my bag on the bed. I walked forwards and got out some underwear and shorts and pulled those one first before finding a clean bra and then slipping it on before someone knocked on the door. "Just a minute." I shouted before finding a button up and buttoning the most essential parts before walking towards the door. "What?" I asked seeing Valentino. "Just making sure you were okay." He said after inhaling deeply. "Are you okay?" I asked giving him a weird look. "It's just, when I got here you still smelled like alcohol and sterilizer but now that you showered-" "Okay... I just have to get my shoes on and I will be ready to go." I said and walked back in and he followed almost numb like. "We're driving together. Mark took your sisters back to the place they have been staying and they are just going to meet us at the air field." He said, and I just nodded and slipped on my mixed matched socks. I moved around my clothes to fine my converse and pulled them out. "Still love teal huh?" He asked me as I slipped them on and tied them up. "Why would my color preferences change?" I asked him as I slipped on my other one. I stood when I was done and closed my bag before hefting it off and onto the floor. I pulled out the handle and dragged it behind me. "I got it." He said before pulling it from my grasp. He walked ahead of me and I smiled and waved at Ophelia who looked so happy. "Thank you again." "Don't even worry about it." I said and walked out the door Valentino was holding open for me. I saw an Audi and a Van outside, and I walked towards the Audi as the trunk popped open when he pulled out his keys. I waited by the door as he put my bag in the back and I just looked to my right before jumping when he cleared his throat next to me. He opened my door and waved me in. I slid in and buckled up as he closed my door and then moved around the front quickly. He got in and started the car that barely made any noise at all. We drove through the woodsy area taking turns smoothly and I fiddled with my hands. It was an awkward quiet and I hated it. But I didn't know what to say. Or if I wanted to say anything to him. "Where are you going to be doing your residency?" He asked me, and I looked over at him. "In the OBGYN offices." I said and looked away. "Which hospital?" "NYU Downtown." I said and looked around. "Pretty sure you don't know where that is." I said after a while and then saw a huge field with a plane on the edge of the clearing and he turned into it. "How are you going to get this car back?" I asked when we stopped. "Dean said he still has his motor cycle and he is going to take this back for me and drive to his place before joining us in New York." "What did my sisters tell you to make you come with us?" I asked, and he just cleared his throat. "The truth." He said and opened his door. I narrowed my eyes at his empty chair and then opened my own door as he opened the trunk. "I got these, go get a seat." He told me waving me off and I just went towards the open door on the plane and nodded to Mark's usual pilot. He got the bags on board and took the seat right next to me and my sisters arrived. It was going to be a long flight. Even if the pilot said it would only be 2 and a half hours.
