Chapter 6

Rocco drove the Mercedes to the Palace hotel and took them to the suit.

“Miss Stewart, if there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know.” He said very politely.

“Thank you, Rocco, we are good, Steve is here and as my assistant, he is very capable of handling my affairs, so you need not worry. Thank you for dropping us.” Dakota smiled at him.

“Okay.” He bowed courteously and left.

“Oh my God, Dakota are we going to get our space living here? To me, it looks like Mr. Marquis is not going to leave you alone. I am not sure but I think he has a crush on you.” Steve teased her.

Dakota blushed.

“All right stop making a fuss out of it, even if he is interested in me, I don’t care. He just a stepping ladder to get what I want. And don’t forget the reason we are here. So be focused, Steve. Now go and rest, I will meet you for dinner. Let’s have an early dinner so that I will get over my jet lag.” She said and went inside her room. While Steve went out to the adjoining room.

After taking a shower Steve took out his laptop and started browsing the local news of the city so that they could be up to date.

After some time he closed his eyes and thought about the reason they had come to Palermo. After the event in New York, Jeremy Marquis had met Andre and signed a business deal with him. He was renovating all his old hotels and wanted Dakota to redesign them. Jeremy had flown to New York especially to hire a world-renowned architect to redesign it. And when Dakota won the award he wanted to hire her immediately.

But he knew she would object as she had nothing to lose she worked as a freelance architect across different countries and MAR Architecture was just a place where she worked part-time, so he had contacted her employer and given them a hundred million projects. He knew Andre wouldn’t reject as he was a very ambitious man. And he had investigated both of them very thoroughly and came to know that Andre and Amber were best friends. So Amber would definitely take the project for him.

Steve knew all these because one of his men had followed Jeremy’s assistant and came to know that he was investigating Dakota and Andre.

After they had returned back to London, Andre had coaxed Dakota and she finally agreed then it was decided she would fly to Palermo with Steve and start works as early as possible.

But apart from this Steve knew the main reason why she did not reject the project. She had already investigated Marquis and came to know about his background and so she played it safe and let Marquis find her and yes he did find her and gave the proposal.

She was very beautiful and elegant in her own way and easily attracted male attention, so Steve had already guessed that Jeremy was bowled over by her beauty but in Dakota’s eyes he was just a pawn to catch the people who had framed her father and punish them.

Although she was a little reluctant to leave her mother alone in London, Andre promised her he would visit her regularly.

 Steve was browsing through the internet when he received a call and saw that it was a strange number. He picked it up.

"Hello." 

"Hi, assistant Steve, I am Romeo. I have been told by the boss to assist you while you are here in Palermo. Please tell me what can I do for you?" Romeo said from the other end.

Steve smiled for a moment then spoke very sternly and gave him instructions about what he wanted him to do.

"I want all the details in twenty-four hours so you better be quick, no matter how much it costs try to get each and every detail about the case and find few men to guard Amber Stewart all the time. Don't let them show themselves to her and keep a safe distance from her. I will call you in the evening and let you know where to meet." He said and ended the call.
