Always three days earlier minus a few hours July 16––––––––
KATE SPENT A COUPLE of hours in the garden and then returned inside to take a shower. She had to get ready for work and needed to hurry if she didn’t want to be late.
Kate resigned to be a little sluggish that day. She hadn’t slept enough, and her mind had kept turning around various ideas, although she hadn’t reached any conclusion. That upset her. She also needed to compensate for her lack of sleep, so she drank more coffee.
Kate turned on the shower tap, and the warm water stroked her skin. It felt heavenly, and she forgot about getting on with her day. She didn't turn off the tap until she had felt icy water on her skin.
