Testing the Waters

Kaden's POV

I was on my way to my vehicle when my father stops me to talk. I told him last night that Waverly might be my mate and we talked about how if she was really my mate I would be the next King. We had both liked the sound of that.

I had enough time to place my bag in the car when my father asks, " So what is your plan to snag her?"

I smirk, " I am going to talk to the headmaster about getting all my classes to line up with hers so she is always within my sight. Im gonna see if I can get her alone later today and try to push the mating bond on her."

My father smiles at my idea, " Good. I will make up some reason for us to go to their Pack Land as much as we can. Do you think she will accept you?"

I bust out laughing, " Really Dad? When have I ever had an issue with getting a female in my bed?'

My father laughs at what I say then walks away when Dean exits the hoiuse and makes his way to my car. I stop him, "Hold up there brother I am gonna need you to take your Harley today."

I watch him huff but he nods then goes to his bike.

I jump in the car and take off.

*20 MINUTES LATER*

I pull into my usual spot and look around to find Waverly. I spot her standing by a tree when I hear my brother's bike pull up and he parks right next to where she is standing. He pulls his helmet off and I notice they are smiling at each other.

Why the f**k are they smiling at each other?

I huff a little and fight the urge to go over there and go on off on my brother till I feel a hand caress my back. I look behind me and there is Sage. She stands up on her toes and kisses my cheek, " Hey there good looking. What ya looking at?"

I smirk, " Watching my brother make a fool of himself over Waverly."

Sage scuffs, " You mean the Princess? You know you can do so much better than her. She is a bitch."

I laugh a little, "Little Princess might be my mate so watch what you say!"

Sage takes a step back, " Well she might be your mate but does she know that?"

She points over to where Dean and Waverly are standing. I look and they are standing extremely close. I watch as Dean tucks a stray hair behind her ear and she blushes.

I growl and before I could stop myself I am pulling Dean by his hair away from Waverly. Through clenched teeth I say, " GET THE f**k AWAY FROM MY MATE!"

Dean's POV

I growl back at Kaden, " LET ME GO NOW!"

Kaden lets go of but keeps his eyes on Waverly who looks like she is ready to run away but instead she punches Kaden.

Kaden turns his head back and I see that Waverly had spilt his lip. Kaden touches he spilt lip with his tongue, " My mate has fire in her."

Waverly growls, " I am not your mate. Stay the f**k away from me."

I watch as Waverly stumps her in way into the school building. I grab my bag off my bike laughing at Kaden, "Well Kaden what are you gonna do now that your mate basically rejected you?"

Kaden keeps his eyes on the way Waverly just went, " She didn't use the right words to reject me so she still is my mate. I will just have to convince her. By the way BROTHER stay away from her!!"

I look at Kaden, " Is that an order?"

Kaden gives me a deadly look, " She is mine, not yours."

Kaden makes his way into the building with me trailing behind him.

I smirk and think, " No she aint mine but he will never be yours."

Waverly's POV

I had only been at school for 10 minutes and that mutt Kaden has already declared I am his mate and somehow people are starring at me more than normal. I am grabbing books out of my locker when a figure pops up next to the door. I jump a little but soon calm down when I see that it is Keaton. I scream with happiness and throw my arms around him, " KEATON!!! What are you doing here?"

He hugs me back, " Well Thorn and I agreed that some one should be here to protect you."

I let go of him, " Why didn't he tell me?"

Keaton grabs my books from me, " We wanted to surprise you. I got all my classes to match yours."

I laugh and shake my head. I loop my arm around his, " To homeroom we go."

We made our way to the classroom. Keaton grabs the desk next to mine as Kaden enters the room. I watch as he sends a death glare in Keaton's direction. Keaton sends him an air kis and looks at me, " So that is that is my nephew the maybe mate?"

I nod at him. Kaden takes the seat in front of me the turns to look at Keaton. I watch as they are having a starring war. The teacher claps her hands to get everyone's attention which ends the starring contest. The teacher states, " For the second day in a row we have a new student."

Keaton stands up and everyone in the room drop from their desks to bow. Keaton laughs, "Oh come now get up."

I laugh when they all sit back down. Keaton makes his way to the front of the room, " Now my loves, my name is Keaton. Yes I am King Thorn's mate and Consort but please don't feel like you need to bow to me. Treat me as a normal student."

Keaton sends me a wink then comes back and sits next to me. I mindlink to him, 'Really Keaton? You know they ain't gonna treat you like a normal person. Hell they don't even treat me as normal.'

Keaton looks at me and wiggles his eyebrows causing me to giggle.

The bell rings and we head to our next class. I hear footsteps behind us and turn to see Kaden behind me. I look up at his smiling face, " What do you want?"

Kade smiles even more, "I just want to talk."

I look at Keaton who grabs my books from me again and says, " Talk with the boy. I will meet you in class."

I watch as Keaton walks to the classroom. I turn back and look at Kaden, " Talk."

Kaden steps beside me and we walk toward the classroom. Kaden finally speaks, " I apologize for this morning. I don't know what is going on with me. Everytime I get around you my body gets all goosebumpy and my Wolf Spirit takes over. What about you?"

I gulp, " I feel tingles."

He stops walking, " So we are mates?"

I shrug, " I think so. I don't know."

He smiles, " There is a way to find out."

Before I could ask how we could find out Kaden has his lips on mine.

Oh Goddess his lips felt heavenly on mine. I wrappeed my arms around his neck and kiss him back deeply. I don't know if it was him or me who growled but I know I don't want this kiss to end.

I felt my Wolf Spirit howl MATE! It caused me to pull away from him and gasps for air. My eyes found his as he smiles.

He moves to kiss me again but the bell rings and I take off running into the classroom for safety.

I slump down in my desk and mindliink to Keaton, Mom and Uncle Thorn, ' It is confirmed. Kaden Stanosa is my mate.'

Uncle Thorn responds in a growl, ' Did the mutt mark you precious?'

Keaton answers, ' There is no mark on her neck, but from the look of Sugar Dumpling's lips they were smooching. BIG TIME!'

I hear my mother laugh, 'So they allowing kissing at this school?'

I finally answer, 'It was a kiss nothing more. What am I gonna do?'

Uncle Thorn answer, 'Keaton baby keep an eye on our Sugar Dumpling. Don't allow the Scooby around her. Or so help me I will send in the Guard or show up myself!'

Keaton mouths to me SORRY. I give him a quirky smile and nod. We cut the mindlink and focus on the teacher.

Well I try but my mind keeps replaying the kiss. I glance over at Kaden who already has his eyes on me and is smiing. I bite my lip a little and I see pleasure and desire. I look away as fast as I can.

I look at Keaton who gives me a smile letting me know he just saw what happened.

I slump even deeper into my desk. Yep I am in big trouble.
