“Hey, Lizzie,” he said. “How are you doing tonight?” She pressed her lips together, not sure how she was doing.   “I’m okay,” she said after a long pause.   There was another long pause.   Then Deon asked, “Look, I’m sorry about the way I acted earlier. I didn’t mean to come across as so overbearing. Like I said, there’s something about Luke that rubs me the wrong way.”  “I get it,” Lizzie said. “I don’t like that you acted like that toward someone I consider a friend, but as long as you don’t do it again, we’re cool.”  “I won’t,” Deon told her, sounding relieved.  Then he paused for a moment and asked, “So, we’re good?”  “We’re good,” she told him.   “Thank goodness,” he said. “I was scared I’d lost you as a friend… and maybe more.”  She pressed her lips together for a moment,
