That night, I end up running toward my own castle, run up the stairs, and lock myself in my room. My heart pounds with heavy breathing as I keep hearing the demon whispering in my head like little children, ‘You’re jealous. You’re jealous of your war general!’
“Shut up!” I huff at the demon. I shake my head in an attempt to banish the demon’s mocking whispers. “Shut up. Shut up!”
‘Aw, come on now, stop fighting it. You know what she is to you the moment you saw her for the first time,’ the demon keeps taunting me, ‘And when she kissed that general, you felt it burning right in your sternum.’
“That can’t be true!” My feet pace by themselves in the room. Without knowing it, my head looks up to the ceiling, where a painting of the Goddess looks back at me from above. Blon
