Witches have always been known as allies of werewolves. Essentially all of them are not good. But the ones which are decided to help the pack of the town. They are bound to that one pack so that they don't leak information. It has been a universal rule since ages and everyone have accepted it since then.
Romano pack was no different. They had a long history of maintaining a witch to safeguard their pack. Most of the time witches saw the future and warned them about the dangers. It always depends on the moon so there's nothing supernatural about it.
Carter worked his lips in between his teeth. He was having a strange feeling in his stomach that something was happening. Something he was not aware of. Why would his family allow the witch in the packhouse all of a sudden? It's not like she was a highly prioritised guest. Most of the times she bought bad news.
From the corner of his eyes, he noticed that his mother was on edge. She was not able to sit still for even a minute since morning. He was curious to ask her what was going on but when he noticed his father doing the same he stayed quiet. It was a wise decision to stay away from their affairs.
Amelia was sleeping atleast that's what the doctor said. After talking to her for a while he was asked to leave the room so that the omega can rest. He thought of spending the rest of the day by going into the market but as a witch was going to be there in the packhouse he decided to stay back.
"Will you get that?!" His mother's angry voice made his ears ring. He threw the newspaper away and noticed that she was yelling at some omega.
"It's a town witch mother not Queen of England. You need to calm down" He sighed and heard his father snort from where he stood. Carter narrowed his eyes and noticed a bowl in his father's hand. Why was he helping at all?
The Luna scoffed, her hands on her hip, "She's just as important as the Queen. Now stop worrying us and go back to your room"
Carter made a face, "But I was just-"
His father cleared his throat, interrupting him, "Carter you heard your mother."
"I did but all I'm saying-"
"Room" His father simply said while taking the bowl towards the backyard.
"Come back in an hour to welcome her" His mother yelled as he threw the paper on the table and stood up. It was like he was a teenager again. They treated him like one for sure. Carter peeked inside the kitchen on his way out and let out a breath noticing all the herbs arranged on the table. It definitely meant that the witch was going to do a reading.

Carter decided to go see Amelia instead. The omega worried him and bought the urge of protectiveness in him. He didn't like that one bit because it was so unfamiliar to him, that emotion. When he noticed that the door was slightly ajar, panic gripped his chest. Who could have entered the room?
He had training for being ready to attack so it wasn't difficult for him to walk on his toes. In that way, he would not make any noise. Pushing open the door completely he leaned against the wall, his eyes scanning the room.
"What are you doing?" The omega's voice startled him, his eyes widening. He stepped inside the room and noticed that she was sitting on the bed, her back pressed against the headrest and a tray table on her lap.
"Carter" She called out and he blinked his eyes, his eyes averting when he realised that he was staring at her.
"Huh sorry"
Amelia raised her eyebrow, "For being a creep outside my room?"
He shook his head, his lips twitching in almost a smile. It surprised him how she easily managed to make him want to smile. Carter had a reputation for being strict after all he was in the military. His juniors were intimidated by the way he always had a straight face. Be it good news or bad news. He blamed it on all those years of training and having to endure losing his friends in a battle. Nothing made him feel expressive anymore.
"No! No...for zoning out on you"
Amelia clicked her tongue, crossing his arms against her chest, "Oh"
"Did you have good sleep?"
"Yeah I slept fine" She mumbled, her lips twisting.
"Why are you here?"
"Just checking up on you," Carter said in a quiet voice. He didn't want to admit that but also he had no reason to lie. Absolutely couldn't think of anything.
As his feet carried him towards her room he thought that the doctor would be there and with that excuse he would be able to check on Amelia. Now that he scanned the room no one was there.
Amelia parted her lips in shock like she wasn't expecting him to say that. His eyes were trained on her as she shyly hummed, her head bent down. The Alpha's eyes turned dark in lust as he imagined her being submissive for him. All soft and naked just-
Carter cleared his throat loudly. What was happening to him? He never had those kinds of thoughts before. Well, that was a lie. The Alpha wasn't entirely a saint he did think about omegas during the rut. Had most of the omegas in a town obsessed with him.
"Where is the doctor?"
"Oh, she went out for a smoke" Amelia shrugged and pushed the table away from her lap. He noticed that she had left some of the breakfast on her plate.
"Is that why the door was ajar?"
She hummed, awkwardly twisting her fingers in her lap. Did he make her uncomfortable? Carter thought. Nervous maybe? That's why she was avoiding him but there's something about her that he can't stay away. No matter how much he tried.
"Do you need anything? Or someone to keep you company?"
She lifted her head and he felt awestruck for a while. He never judged the physical appearance of a person but Amelia surely had features of the goddess. Maybe it was just the light or him losing his mind but she seemed flawless. Her skin was glowing, cheekbones defined and lips firm and pouty. All that sleep must have agreed with her. There was no doubt in his mind about it that she was unreal.
"Actually I'm fine. Trying to read this book" She raised the book on her side, her voice meek and groggy. It must be all that sleeping. He noticed that it was a poem book. Was she interested in poetry then?
"Okay, I'll see you later" He lowly whispered, about to push at the door behind him but her voice held him back.
Carter poked his head inside, "Do you want something?"
"You," Amelia coughed and quickly said, "You can sit here, stay till the doctor comes back"
"Are you sure?" He asked, his eyes narrowing at the book in her hand. She told him that she would rather read than talk with him which stung.
"I wouldn't have asked otherwise"
He nodded his head and closed the door behind him. Instead of sitting on the empty couch, he sat on the recliner chair near the bed. Amelia's eyes narrowed at that but she didn't say anything.
"What are you so nervous about?"
Her question made him blink several times. His head snapped in her direction and noticed that she was already staring at him. How did she know?
"How do you know?"
She eyed his feet, "You keep tapping your feet"
He reddened at that and stopped tapping his feet against the floor. The Alpha didn't realise that he was working his feet.
"You're too perceptive"
"Isn't that a good thing?" She smirked, raising her eyebrows. Carter knew that she was teasing him from her tone. But he thought that she hated him for some reason.
He decided to play along
"Maybe"
"Oh come on!"
"What?"
"Does it hurt if you just accept it?" She fumed, her nose scrunched up.
"Accept what?" He played innocent. The omega huffed and picked the book, instead of answering him. His mouth parted in shock. They were having such a nice conversation!
"Are you cross with me now?"
She peeked from above her book, "I can't hear you"
"Real mature"
"Takes one to know one"
He sighed. How did he lose that? It was going his way. Carter was a sore loser. He never accepted defeat but at that moment something took over him and he did the unthinkable.
"Fine I'm sorry" He clenched his jaw.
She froze. Keeping her book down she made a show of blinking her eyes repeatedly.
"What was that?"
"I know you heard it" He glared at her.
She shook her head and pointed at the book, "It was in the way"
He crossed his arms, "You're evil"
"I don't think that's what you said"
"I said I'm sorry"
"You should be" Her face changed suddenly to which the Alpha frowned.
"Huh?"
"Nothing. I said nothing"
