CHAPTER 25: PLAYING HOUSE
“Are there any grocery stores still open at this hour?” Kelsi asked as she waited for Aki to unlock his car. They had just left the house and Kelsi had put on a light jacket over her tank top to protect her from the night chill. “Yeah, there’s one nearby,” Aki replied in a perky voice. “You sound excited.” She peered at him as she was putting on her seatbelt. “I guess I am. This is something new,” he said as the car pulled out of the driveway. He gave her a wink. “Home-cooked meals, let’s go!” She rolled her eyes and smiled to herself. The grocery store was a plain red-orange building several minutes away from the Helix neighborhood, but she could tell that they weren’t downtown yet. “Do you even know what we’re buying?” Aki asked when they stepped inside.
