“What?!” Kelsi exclaimed. “The police are alerted? Are you serious?” “Yeah,” Liam answered calmly. “That cop’s probably free from his restraints by now, too.” Kelsi turned her head to look through the rear windshield, and sure enough, as Liam took a turn away from the main road, she glimpsed the police car, which was a tiny speck from how far they were, back out of the convenience store’s front parking lot just as the unmistakable sounds of a police siren started up in the distance. “He’s onto us,” Kelsi yelped.
