Skylar’s pov

Tia may have not known anything aboutconstruction when she first started here, but two weeks into the job and shehad learned everything. Maria was no longer needed that’s how good Tia was ather job. She was just what this company needed. She had everything soorganized. Thanks to her I never miss an appointment.

Everything has been going smoothlynow that I have fired the trouble maker. Everyone else has fallen in lineknowing that if they mess up their job will be on the line. They aren’tfriendly to her but don’t say anything mean either. They just pretty muchignore her.

The guys knew I would come to herrescue every time. I heard rumors that the only reason I hired her is because Iwanted to get in her pants. I hope she doesn’t hear these things. That is notwhy I hired her. I did want the chance to see her more, but now that she wasworking her, I wouldn’t make a move. I stuck up for her because I didn’t liketo hear any woman be called the names she was being called. I would do that foranyone.

I don’t get how anyone could call hernames. Did they not see how beautiful she was? Her body was the thing ofdreams. I guess they were just shallow jerks that couldn’t handle a woman withcurves. That was fine by me. I didn’t want any of them making a move on her.

Sadly, with him being her boss thatmeant she was off limits to him. He couldn’t cross that line no matter howtempted he was. He just needed to try and avoid her as much as possible. Themore time he spent with her the more he wanted her. She just had this way abouther. He felt a strong pull to her.

She was always going above and beyondher job. Always taking care of me. Making sure I always had everything Ineeded. She would even force me to take a lunch. I really liked that about her.She would make the perfect girl for any guy. She was dedicated and hardworking.

He wondered if she was even single.The thought of her being with someone other than me didn’t feel too good. Ihated feeling jealous. I didn’t like this side of me. I have never been likethis before. I wasn’t going to start acting all jealous now. I have no right tofeel this way. She isn’t mine. She can’t be mine. Or could she?

Could we go there? I needed to know.I wanted her. I just needed to see if we could have everything I have beendreaming of since they day I had met her. She could very well be the girl forme. Would she even go for that? Was I just being crazy? I mean she has neverbatted an eye at me or attempted to flirt. She was very professional every timewe were near each other.

I just needed to keep myself busybefore I did something stupid. I was working non-stop with no breaks. I barelycame into my office. I know my crew could sense something was up. I’m sure Tiawondered what was going on as well. I heard one of the guys say he thoughtabout asking her out and I lost it. I told him if he did, he would be fired. Iwas acting crazy. I really needed to get a grip on things before I ruinedeverything my father worked so hard to achieve.

I got a call saying I was needed backat the office. I hated leaving the job I was doing but it sounded important.When I pulled up to the office I saw my mom’s car parked in the parking lot.She never comes here so something had to be wrong. I walked in to see my momand Tia talking like they were old friends. I wondered what was so wrong that Ihad to get called away from a job.

“Mom what are you doing here? Why wasI called to come here?”

Tia looked at my mom and then lookeddown. They looked guilty about something. I was started to get mad becauseneither of them was speaking up. I had work to get back to. Plus, being thisclose to Tia after not seeing her in so long was doing things to me. I neededto leave.

“Is someone going to tell me what’sgoing on or do I need to leave so I can get back to doing my job.”

I didn’t mean to sound so harsh. Tialooked up at me in shock. My mom looked at me and shook her hand like she wasdisappointed in me. Man, now I felt like a complete ass. You know you messed upif your mom is disappointed in how your acting.

“I came here and had Tia call youbecause something is going on with you. All you do is work, and everyone isworried about you.”

I looked over at Tia and saw concernin her eyes. I was staying away so I didn’t mess things up with her and her shewas worrying about me. She was such an amazing person. I wondered if she hadgotten a hold of my mom.

“I’m sorry I worried everyone, but Iam fine. I just took on too many jobs, but we are caught up now and I promise Iwill slow down some.”

“Well good thing your day hassuddenly opened up now get in my car and don’t even think about arguing. Tia, Iwill see you tonight for dinner at my house. You can close up and take the restof the day for yourself.” My mom said.

I didn’t even argue because I knew itwas pointless. I saw the look my mom gave Tia I knew what she was up to. Shewas trying to play matchmaker. When did she even meet Tia? How did they seem toknow each other really well? I was trying to avoid this girl and her my mom wasinviting her over to her house for a meal. Tonight, was going to be veryinteresting.
