Chapter 6 - New Place

1297 Words
Susie We packed up and we were ready to leave. Despite the uncertainty of going to the same place my sister was, I felt determined to live my life to the fullest, especially when Alan was there too. I sighed, Alan, I had missed him like crazy, and I couldn't wait to see him again. I have been in love with him since I gave him a tour of our high school two years ago. He has been amazing to me. Last time we talked he said we would go out to have dinner as soon as I got there. A bunch of butterflies revolted inside my stomach just with that mere thought. Maggie, Mike, and Di loaded my car with their luggage. We will travel by car. It is a ten-hour drive, and we will make a stop in the middle of the road to rest, spend the night there, and then resume our trip to Highlands Pack. “Are we ready?” Mike said and I nodded. Mike and I enjoyed driving, so we decided to split the driving time, so we could be safer. We were on our way to university, so our decisions should be mature enough to know that we should not be on the road tired. “I brought some snacks… Maybe we can drive straight…” Maggie said and Mike chuckled. They were cousins, and perhaps they were right. If we didn't stop, we might be able to arrive at Highlands Pack today. “We will see… you should not drink too much soda, because if you want to make it on time, we won't be making as many potty stops as you can drink…” Diana, joked while Mike pouted. They climbed into the car, and my father and mother stepped out of the packhouse. “Drive safely,” My father said, and then he pulled me into a tight hug, “I am going to miss you, sweetie…” he whispered in my ear, making tears brim my eyes. “I love you, daddy…” I whispered back. He kissed my temple, then releasing me I looked at my mother. “Goodbye, Susie… call us when you get back…” he said with a sweet voice. My mother was a nice woman, it was just that she was more in tune with Gracie, and Gracie and I are like water and oil. We said goodbye, and soon we were hitting the road. Mike played his hip-hop playlist and we started singing along. The road trip was fun, especially when I was about to meet Alan back, and I was on this new adventure with my best friends. “So, did you know that the future King attends Highlands U? They say he is weird…” Maggie, the ever-gossipy girl said. “Weird, how? Does he have two d***s?” Mike said in a joking manner. “You i***t…” Diana and I burst out laughing. “Well, he is way too down-to-earth to be a Royal. They say his cousin is more of a royal than him… He is also not a party animal, and he likes to keep to himself, not that much of a social butterfly, or a friendly guy…” Mike informed him while Maggie nodded at every statement. “See? Weird… It is weird for an Alpha to be this guarded.” Maggie finished, while I shrugged my shoulders. “You two should invest your time in better things…” I said and they giggled… “Like what? Looking for our own personal ´Alan´?” Mike, air quoted his name, making me bluish. “Maybe? I mean, it is best to have someone you can rely on, someone to talk to, someone you love…” I said and Diana chuckled, “And I thought you could always rely on us…” She said, making me pout. They were my family, and I knew they had my back, as well as I had theirs. In the end, we decided to stop at dinner and then continue our way straight to Highlands Pack. We arrived around 10 pm and headed to the apartment my father had provided for our stay. We entered the place, and it was a dream come true. A four-bedroom apartment, with an open floor plan. It was cozy and modern and the best feature of the entire thing was that each bedroom had its own en-suite bathroom. That way we didn't have to share accommodations. “You take the master bedroom…” Mike said and I slowly nodded. “Alright, let's settle down…” I said, and they all ran towards the bedrooms and picked one. I slumped into my bed and sighed. The building was close to the university. It was modern, and on our floor, there were only two doors. One was ours, and the other one I guess we had a neighbor. I picked up my phone and typed a quick text to my father letting him know that we had arrived safely and that we had made it to the university in one go. He was not happy about it, but he was also happy that we made it safely. The second text I typed was to Alan. “Hey, Al! We made it!” Quickly after, the three dots flashed, “Great, Hun!... dinner is still on tomorrow… right?” He asked and I chuckled. How can someone be this charming and caring? This is love… for sure… I giggled like an i***t, “Of course…” I texted back. “Sweet dreams, Hun… I will see you tomorrow…” He texted back and then added a kissing face emoji, making my heart flutter. I can't wait for tomorrow. So far, coming to Highlands University is going to be an adventure… that is for sure! Ajax POV George and I arrived at our place. The penthouse we had used for the last two years was located in a high-end building near the university. Our floor only had two apartments, the one across from ours had been empty for our entire stay, until recently they had been remodeling it, and I am sure next year we will be having neighbors. I don't know how to feel about it. I just hope they are not noisy or loud. It was late at night, and a lingering scent caught my attention… it was faint and familiar… Jasmin and lemongrass... and my wolf stirred inside me. I was in my world, I couldn't be this lucky, the scent I smelled two years ago was there... stronger than ever, and more enticing than anything I had smelled in my entire life. George grabbed my shoulder and stiffened next to me, bringing me back to reality. “What is wrong with you?” I looked at him, while he stood in front of the locked door of our neighbors. “My mate is in there…” he said, and I looked at him. Gio was one of those laid-back guys who were not a rush to meet their mates… and surprisingly, he had found his mate and was unable to move from the door. “Let's go… it is late, and I am sure I'm not letting you stand here like a creep…” I said, and he nodded. “Can we greet them first thing tomorrow?” He said with anxiety. “Sure…” I dismissed him, “As soon as we wake up, we can come here… I won't leave you alone…” I patted his back, and he slowly nodded. We were friends, and I was certain I would be his wing-man if needed. Also, I need to find out who this scent belongs to… my mate.
