Chapter 29 - Stay

Ajax She f*****g kissed me. It took me by surprise, the most amazing surprise I could have imagined. Her inexperienced lips landed on mine, and I couldn't help but stand up, towering over her; one of my hands caressed her cheek, holding her in place. My other hand wrapped around her waist and brought her closer to me. She gasped, parting ways. She was panting, and when her eyes locked with mine, I could only see her. She had a lot of doubts, but she had discovered something with this kiss, and I couldn't wait for her to find so many more things. She bit her lower lip. "Ajax…" She paused, and I shook my head. I didn't want to hear her rejection or her regrets. "I know you are in a committed relationship… So I won't tell anyone…" I said, and she sighed, "That's the whole thing… I have no idea why I said yes to that…" She exclaimed, and then covered her mouth, realizing she was just revealing she didn't want to be with Alan, "Ever since you kissed me the first time, I haven't been able to get you out of my mind… out of my heart." She lowered her gaze, blushing. I placed my fingers under her chin and lifted her eyes to meet mine. "I haven't been able to get you out of my mind either…" I confessed, and she bit her lower lip. "And stop biting that lip because I am willing to help you with the task…" I said, and she blushed again, releasing the offending lip from her teeth. Wow, this day keeps getting better and better. When I decide to fight for her, she is also willing to fight for me, or at least she is willing to acknowledge her feelings for me. "Let's eat and work… because I am sure we will have many interruptions…" I said, and she scrunched her eyebrows, "What kind of interruptions?" My naive mate asked, and I looked at her, "Good Goddess, the things I want to do with you…" I sighed, and she bit her lower lip. I took a deep breath, "Let's concentrate on finishing this project, shall we?" I said, and she nodded. "Thanks for dinner…" She stood up, walking impossibly close to me, then picked up the plates and went into the kitchen to start rinsing and loading the dishwasher. "You don't have to…" I said behind her. I felt her shiver, "But I want to, Ajax…" She said, and I nodded. I took a deep breath, inhaling her scent, and then I closed my eyes. She is amazing. "I am going to start," I said, and she nodded. If I didn't move out of there, I would pin her against the counter. Kissing her or even more. I sat before my laptop and started throwing out ideas about products and strategies. I was good at it, so I decided to rush this s**t out of the way. Minutes later, she entered the dining room, "What are you writing?" She leaned forward and looked over my shoulder. Damn it! I wanted to kiss her. "I already shared the document with you, so you can work on it…" I said, and she nodded. She sat across from me and opened her laptop. She already had my place's Wi-Fi password, so she immediately opened the file and started writing. I could see what she was writing, and I was mesmerized by the way her mind worked. She completely complimented my ideas and even found others that were amazing. "So, we should develop this product…" She said, and I lifted my eyebrows. "Which one?" I asked. We had three options. The first one was a nutrition bar for students in the rush. The second one was a special mattress covered with breathable materials that kept the mattress cool on summer nights despite our elevated body heat, ensuring better rested nights and better performance for workers and students. The third idea was a natural energy drink without processed drugs or additives. It will be flavorful and will be done using natural energy-enhanced herbs. Without the addictive effects of caffeine, nor the high blood sugar peaks and drops… "The drink… I think that if we manage to pull it off, we will have a top-of-the-chain product." She said, and I agreed. It would be appealing to people who check all the ingredients and who care what they are eating, it would be appealing to those who want a high-performance energy drink, and it would be appealing to those who are used to the regular crap but want something fun and flavorful. "Excellent. We should hire a development lab and start product development," I said, and she nodded. "But for this first installment, we need to do a bit of research about energy enhancement herbs and natural substances, their uses and effects…" she said, and I nodded. "I can take care of it," I said, and she nodded, "Alright, I will research the top-selling flavors among students and our other niches…" She sighed, "I will try to reduce them to 4 to 5 flavors. I will cross-check between markets, so we will launch a product appealing to all." She finished, and I nodded. "OK, should we check within an hour?" I asked, and she nodded. Her smile reached her eyes. I sighed and tried to concentrate on the task at hand. Once we had the product, the first development stages and research were easy tasks. We were behind on our times, but it would have been completely doable if we had dedicated the extra time needed. An hour later, she sighed, "How are you doing, Ajax?" She asked, her eyes looking at me above her screen. I lifted my gaze, and she looked adorable, wearing a pair of blue light blocker reading lenses. "Last time, you didn't wear those…" I pointed out, and she lifted her hand to remove them, but I shook my head, "You look cute…" I said, and she blushed. "I only use them when I am working." She muttered, and I nodded. "You don't have to explain; I find you beautiful with or without them…" I said nonchalantly. She bit her lower lip, and I sighed. "Susie…" I said, trying to restrain myself from jumping across the table and kissing her. "Sorry?" She muttered. "Anyway, how far are you on your research?" She sighed and stretched her arms, and moved her neck. Her top lifting exposed a bit of her soft middle skin. Damn it! She is beautiful, and her skin called me like a siren's call to a sailor. "Almost done…" I said, trying to move my eyes from her exquisite body. "How about you?" I asked, and she nodded, "Same…" She said, and I lifted my gaze. "How about a break?" I suggested, and she shook her head. "I would rather finish first…" she said, and I nodded. I wished she had said yes because I was dying to kiss her. "Want something to drink?" I asked her, and she nodded. I stood up. "Coke Zero, right?" I asked, and she nodded again. "An iced glass with ice…" I confirmed, and she nodded. "Alright, I will get it…" I said, making my way to the kitchen to prepare our drinks. I had observed the way she had always ordered her drinks, and I knew how she liked her Coke. "Here…" I said, leaning close to her while placing the glass beside her. She turned her face to look at me, and I sighed. "Damn it, woman…" I said, kissing her forehead. She sighed, and when I moved away from her, she gave me a soft smile. One that reached her eyes and exposed her soul. Goddess, I am in free fall for her. “Thanks… let's finish…” She said brightly, or as brightly as one could be at one in the morning. Half an hour later she yawned, and rolled her neck, trying to keep her eyes open. “Susie… you are tired…” I pointed out, and she shook her head, covering her mouth and making a yawn. "We need to finish…" She said, and I shook my head. "You won't be getting anything else done… You are tired." I pointed it out, and she nodded. She closed her laptop and stood up, cleaning the table of all the scattered paper. "I will see you tomorrow," she yawned while taking her things. When she turned around to leave my place, I grabbed her wrist… "Stay…"
