The sound of trumpets alerted me to our new guests. I, for one wasn’t permitted to go and welcome them due to the orders from the King and Queen, but that did not mean I couldn’t watch from my chambers.
Making sure to stay out of sight, I observed the arrival of the foreign envoy with his entourage. I counted a total of thirty people and wondered just what were they going to do here. Their leader was obviously here to forge an alliance, but what about the rest of them? Were they here just to see to the envoy’s needs?
Obviously. He is representing his Kingdom, and they need to express their power.
My eyes landed on Prince Arkin who was there to welcome the envoy. Of course, the King and Queen would not welcome the envoy as he was not the ruler. They might not choose to meet him at all
