The court ladies guarding me did their best to ignore my presence. They communicated between themselves in that silent manner of theirs. Even though I had my face covered they still refused to look at me. But I knew that were aware of where I was. It was their job to keep a close watch on me. When supper arrived, I stood up from my perch on the chair by the window, giving permission to the court ladies to put the food on the table.
